    Popcorn Question....

    Never had any problem with popcorn; my doctor even said it was fine no problems; His comment was: how could you go to the movies and not eat popcorn?" it's like chips, they break down easily and go down like chocolate!!!! Also 8 lapbanders in my office drink soda and have for over 4 years; not a problem
  3. I am probably going to switch lap band doctors as I have not been happy at all; i have been a bander for 2 years; lost 80 lbs but have gained 30 back; i got overfilled in September; called my doctor in middle of night and he was not concerned; i was throwing up every 20 minutes my own vial; he said, come in the morning and we will take some out; after throwing up all the way in; he wasn't in that day; a "presumed" nurse released some and said the dr " " is known to overfill, being too aggressive; it took 3 fills to get enough out so i could drink a liquid again; then since then it has taken forever to get in and when you do get in it's like a 3 hour wait, it's become a waiting room machine and the care is gone. Doctor is thinking more money than care. In addition, this doctor is no longer taking united healthcare. So what happens when you have a medical problem/or need surgery. Who pays for it now??? In addition, I have gained back these 30 lbs as I can eat everything and anything in any bite size i want. Doctor doesn't seem to care? My question is: i have no pain, no problems, do i have a leak or what is wrong with me?????????????? In Plano,, TX (suberb of Dallas, TX ) any suggestions for doctors
  4. Always check with your normal doctor; overweight women especially between 40+ and some if diabetic, very common to have frozen shoulder; go in and google frozen shoulder; i have had both shoulders done since i had the lap band; So check it out

    It's real now

    Yes protein drinks are fine, up to 2 a day; slim fast carb sense is also good; you don't want a lot of sugar; we had to have liquids/ for pre op no food; we had popsicles, soup broths, protein drinks; no sodas etc; my doctor is #1 in the u.s. over 1500 surgeries done; i trust him more than half these doctors i hear about; stick to a liquid diet for the week before; the idea is to get your liver small before surgery; you will do fine;

    It's real now

    don't eat bread, not good along with rice and pasta; just quit eating them; i order cheeseburgers without the bun with grilled onions and mushrooms; fajitas without the tortillas, put sour cream and cheese on top and enjoy; i ate 7 days after my surgery; i eat regular 48 hours after my fill; all is good; rice, pasta are way too high in sugar and carbs; i eat baked potatoes a lot with lots of cheeese and sour cream to make it kind of mushy or soft; Judy Ann glad you got rid of those hose; yes sore around the port stays a while but that is normal; i don't know about the cottage cheese and yogurt but i eat that alone alot; get your walking and exercise in; i highly recommend water aerobics after 6 weeks of surgery, it's great, really great

    It's real now

    who in the heck told you to wear surgical hose; never heard of such a thing; i was banded 1/16 and hve lost 40 lbs and got my 4th fill today to a 8.2 cc and she told me now i will see the weight come off as i normally could eat a whole hamburger and she said now i will be able to eat a fourth of it; it's a good jump start; did you guys have the large band or small band? i have the large band yes liquids for the week before and after each fill; see if you can find labrada protein drink, tastes like chocolate milk and it's already pre mixed and has 30 grams of protein; also smoothie king has the gladiator, strawberries/bananas or raspberr/strawberry and it has 45 grams of protein and so yummy;

    mucus blockage ????

    Rena, I had dr. jaysaleen too; i had a fill 1 1 /2 weeks ago and i can eat everything and anything (my 4th fill to 7cc's) so i am going back in tomorrow for another fill because i have been eating rice krispy bars, taco salads, fried chicken; everything goes down with me;

    mucus blockage ????

    i have a friend who has the same problem; her band is 4 cc and she was filled to 2cc's and they removed some; make sure you are careful after the fill; now me no problem, i have the larger band and filled 7 cc's out of 14cc's and i can eat a horse; sinus drainage can also cause a problem; talk to your doctor; i'm in texas, where are you at and who was your doctor

    it's the best thing you can do; i was banded in dallas on 1/16/06; lost 40 lbs; 3 fills; foods are easy, real easy; enjoy sugar free pudding; chocolate kisses/hershey bars melt down easily in you; i eat a lot of fajitas, chicken wings, fish, chips and queso; eggs; protein bars; i have just started water aerobics; the surgery goes by fast; since i have done it, 6 of my friends have done it and are doing well; Julie

    Dr. Jayaseelan?

    txkrause i called in after 1 1/2 week as after the liquids i found i could eat everything, including the cheeseburger, but i didn't eat the bun; i haven't eaten bread per say; some cereal, pasta, candy you name it i could eat it like normal with normal helpings and speed; so i called in and i am going to have a 2nd fill this saturday (like that about dr. jay, can do them on saturday in their beautiful new offices); so hopefully my 2nd fill will do something ; i have the large band and the first cc was 3 cc's; my friend one week ahead of me has small band and she got 1.4 cc and she can eat very little; i'm munching on chex mix right now; no problem; i'm holding my weight, taking water aerobics which is helping me. Need more restriction

    Dr. Jayaseelan?

    txkrause I'm curious on how you are doing with your weight loss; I was the same as you felt like you had to be on liquids and that it was the only way to lose; i was banded 1/16/06 and had my first fill on 3/9/06. I have lost 30 lbs to date but it seems like I lose most of my weight also when on the liquid portion. I was filled a week ago and I am eating cheeseburger, chicken wings, salads, so gaining after you can go on "real" food again is my concern too. What is going on with you

    I've been wondering about all this; i was banded a week ago with 4cc on my first fill; after 5 days of liquids; i have eaten chicken wings, chips, cheeseburger; and i can eat a lot of it and i don't feel the band stopping me; i do walk 2 miles a day and I am truly trying to stay to a lot of protein to lose weight; I think this is slower than what i thought too i had my band done on 1/16, so i am eight weeks and lost 30 lbs todate
  17. wow 4 weeks of liquid, no way; after my first fill, it was 7 days and i went 5 days and ate chicken wings (very small bites and chewed well); i ate carrots, celery, omletes (1 egg, mushrooms, cheese); protein drinks, smoothie king--gladiator 45 grams of protein; after my surgeryi started mushies about 5 days ahead of what doctor told me; wow the weight you must have lost on liquids

    Has anyone tried Xenical for weight loss?

    worthless, never did a thing; i am shocked a nurse would talk you out of the lapband, it's healthy, it's easy and it's doctor cared for; go for it

    Where are you from? I would highly recommend seeing another doctor and get back on track; if not losing for a long time you have to ask why and also look at what you are eating? I had my first fill on 3/9 and have lost 10 more lbs, total 30 lbs and i got a 4.0 cc fill with the large band; i actually am able to still eat a lot too; i am walking 2 miles a day; get to a new doctor

    Just Banded 01/19/2005

    yep, we are definitely on the same path; i have my first fill the 9th and with dr. jay it's liquids for a week; now i have 10 people in my office who have been banded from 2-4 years and they say they only do liquids 48 hours; I am anxious to find out, how much after one fill can you eat? 1/2 cup at meal time, 2 cups or what; everyone says you have to try and see what is right for you, well goin to work, I don't want to be puking all the time that is for sure; my friend who had her lapband 3 days before, she goes on monday the 27th so i will know more from her; i have lost 22 now and holding also as i eat anything i want but i am walking a good mile or so every day so i think that is helping.

    Dr. Jayaseelan?

    i don't know who your insurance is with, but most are pretty good as 1. your BMI is high enough and you have other things, so i wouldn't worry about it; His staff will answer any question, for the first 2 weeks, I called daily, they are wonderful to work with. Dr. Jay is a great doctor, very kind; There would be no doubt in my mind to just go with him and be done with it. Do not chicken out; it's the great thing to do for anyone with health issues. Go for it girl
