    So many questions

My doc is all about bariatric advantage. I didn't get the vitamins yet and went with a horrid chewable at gnc. I did, however, try the caramel calcium chew, and it was delicious. So far as the shakes go, i got some vanilla body fortress super advanced whey isolate at walmart because it was cheap. Make sure you get the one that is way low sugar. It tastes decent on its own the first time, but wears on you quickly. I discovered that mixing it with root beer extract or cocoa powder or pineapple and coconut extract helped tremendously. Mix it with 6 oz water and a couple oz ice cubes and blend. None of them qualify as good, but just powrr through. Good luck!

  5. I had mine removed because of Gerd as well. I had mine removed and revised to bypass at one time. Ten days out, and i feel great. The recovery has been 100% easier than with the band. Just power through the nerves and do it! Oh, and hop off the hospital bed and start moving immediately. I walked the floor about 8 times a day for 5 rounds. I thoroughly belive that walking is the reason it's been so easy for me. You can do it!
  6. Oh.. honestly, my recovery time has been short. I went back to work as a teacher 7 days later. Physically, i had no problems but mentally, i wasn't as sharp. I'll go back to work again Monday and imagine all will be well. Physically, i was up and down stairs 5 to 6 times a day within 3 days. I hope this helps!
  7. My surgeon has a team that meets for recommendations. In my case, I already had the band and developed bad reflux, so they recommended a revision to rny. I had my surgery November 18, 2014. Thus far, i haven't figured out what hungry feels like. If you have reflux, go with rny.

    GERD Help - Water

While on my weight loss journey, I've been learning to drink water. I discovered that I really liked higher alkaline water, so I kept drinking it and started wondering if there was a reason I preferred it. Then, I read this article http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22844861. Now, that I think about it, my GERD isn't nearly as bad when I'm drinking pH8+ water. Has anyone experienced this? Also, maybe it might help someone having lapband GERD issues. That's the reason I'm having revision surgery.

How long until you went back to work?

I teach, too, so thank you for your story, Amy.

How long until you went back to work?

I feel your pain, Sreeves, I ended up getting docked days last year for all my gastric (lap band caused) problems. And, I've been worried because I don't want to do that again this year. But, I've decided that as long as I can find a ride and I'm not high on pain meds, I can be uncomfortable at work (teacher) just as well as at home. So far as your questions go, I took 2 weeks off when they did the lap band and all was well by the time I went back to work. I'm way curious about the experiences of others (who've had bypass), though. The two people I know who had it say the recovery was hard, but one had never had a baby and the other had never had a kidney stone, so I didn't have an accurate pain scale, lol.

August 6th lap band to gastric bypass surgery

I call her every two days and leave a message, Bing. If I don't receive a call back by Monday, I'll just call both advocates, my nutritionist, the receptionist (who loves me because I bake cakes for her), and let them know I'll be there Tuesday afternoon if I don't get a response by then. I don't really want to be "that patient," but I will if I have to.
  13. No worries, Jenn. I call and leave a message every two days. If she hasnt called me back by next Monday, I'm just going to make a random appointment with my surgeon and complain directly to him.
  14. I had the band 4 years ago. After 3 years, I ended up developing what I can only describe as "GERD from hell." I went to a new surgeon and was told a revision would be my best bet. When we talked about what to do, he told me that the sleeve was not an option for me because of the GERD, and the sleeve makes GERD worse. So, I opted for the bypass.
  15. I got approved for revision a week ago Monday. I still havent heard from anyone at the doc's office to set up surgery.
