7 months out- hit a big wall. Not losing at all
kkent8704 replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My journey has been stall, lose, stall, lose. I just broke a six week stall where I was up and down between 3lbs. I really thought I was done with weight loss, but then the scale moved! Whew!! I know I'll stall again soon, but I know I need to be patient and the weight will come off -
Need advice with non-existent/slow weightloss after RNY
kkent8704 replied to Annek2014's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was extremely frustrated with my weight loss too - then I realized that for me, it would be a stair step process - stall, then lose a couple of pounds, then stall again. The first month after surgery I only lost 18 lbs, and I remember seeing people on here losing upwards of 30 and 40lbs and was grumpy that wasn't me. My longest stall lasted 6 weeks, and I thought then I was done losing weight completely. However, I finally broke that stall two weeks ago and have lost 6lbs since then. Just keep with the program and you will lose - today I thought for the first time that I might actually meet MY personal goal. That was HUGE for me!! Stick with it - you can do this!! -
My oldest are 14 months apart, but I've always had a hang-y "pouch". It looks a lot better after surgery (I'm 7 months out), it's really deflated, but it still hangs. Yuck!! Wish I could tell you surgery was the cure, but it wasn't for me.

Anyone having RNY near 220 lbs or less?
kkent8704 replied to blackonynx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery weight was 225 and I am 5'3" (on a tall day) (I'm 32 years old). Surgery date was July 9 and I'm holding steady at 161 and have been for about a month. It was a pretty slow loss with a lot of short stalls, but SO worth it Off all of my diabetes meds and feel really good! Would like to lose another 15-20lbs, but we'll see. -
I'm in the exact same boat! Surgery July 9, started at 231lbs, day of surgery was 225.2. I've been stuck between 161.8 and 163 for all of December I'd like to lose another 15lbs and think I'm going to really need to work at it. I agree, protein and water, protein and water. I really need some motivation to exercise, I know I need to, but I just can't make myself do it. It's funny, I can eat some sugar some times and other times it makes me sick. Keep us in the loop and let me know what works to jump start your loss!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a plastic surgeon in the Buffalo/Rochester area? I'm 6 months out of gastric bypass, have lost almost 70lbs and am looking to have plastics this summer (something with my tummy and a breast lift/augmentation) - I'm a teacher, so the timing is ideal! Anyone out there have good or bad experiences in my area? Thanks!!! Kelly

Body Shapers ( Spanx)
kkent8704 replied to Homecie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just bought some of the camis that you can wear your own bra with - the Maidenform brand and I LOVE them!! Seriously am wondering why I haven't been wearing them my whole life. I wear a size large in clothes but had to get a 2x in the shaper. Works great to tighten and smooth. Yes, the straps slip down, but the shaper doesn't roll up or squeeze too tightly. Good luck!! -
For me, I get super sweaty and short of breath, nauseous, clammy, my heart races. Lasts about 15-20 minutes, and it is NOT pleasant!! Twice I've had severe cramps to go along with it...

Me!!! I'm from the Olean/Allegany area - had my bypass done in Rochester

Am making this for dinner tonight so... Cut lengthwise and scrape out middle. Combine a mixture of cream cheese, shredded chicken breast, spices to your liking, and jalapenos (more or less depending on what you like). Fill the hollow with cream cheese mixture and top with reduced fat shredded cheese. Bake in oven til tender and cheese is bubbly... Sounds sooo yummy!!

In this forum because I am ALWAYS here!!! Yet another stupid stall... grrr... I'm doing everything I'm supposed to, and yet, once again, I'm stuck. Totally frustrating!!! Patience is NOT one of my virtues -

LumpySpacePrincess, wow!! That is amazing!! Any tips or tricks to get to that kind of a loss? What are you doing that helped?? -

July 9th for me!! I'm down a total of 29 lbs and had no problems before or after surgery. I have found things that make me throw up though (ground beef, fish, carrots, overeating, eating too fast) and had one experience with dumping syndrome that I never plan to repeat! I stall quite a bit for a couple of days at a time then lose about a pound. I thought for sure I would lose faster than I am and get annoyed/frustrated that I'm not. I also find that I'm still just really tired all the time, but I am able to get all my Water in - I mix with a Vitamin Water Zero or Powerade Zero. Hoping to get my energy back soon. Glad to hear from others!!

Thanks everyone! Logically I know I need to chill, but I am so freakin' impatient!!! Arrggg!!! I do need to focus on the NSV, like when my husband tells me I'm wasting away I just really really want to make sure that I'm not done losing yet... that is my biggest fear and why I'm chained to the scale. Every time the number doesn't move or it goes up, I freak out a little. I will just keep on keeping on. -
I also think 39 lbs is awesome - I'm stuck at 30 and have been for a week Having a hard time fitting in all three (exercise, Water, protein) and usually manage to hit two out of three. Keep up the great work - I'm trying not to get discouraged too!!
-
So, I'm totally a newbie on here - had my bypass on July 9 - feel great, but am only down 22 lbs... and have been stuck for a week!! Is this normal? Should I be worried that I've lost all I'm gonna lose??? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks Kelly

Esskay77, I'm on meds for that... but after I had my kiddos, the dr. recommended drinking warm apple juice and it really helped. Maybe try a low sugar version of apple juice??

I stalled for a little over a week and then weight started to slowly come off again! A two month stall would be horrible!!!
-
I got past the stall!! Woo hoo!! I did just have to patient after all... the weight definitely isn't falling off, but it's coming off, so I'll take it!
-
Thanks everyone!! I needed to hear that... the stall is freaking me out. Logically I know I'm not done losing weight, but that fear is still there that I won't get where I need to be. Will *try* not to weigh myself so much - but it's hard not to!!! Thanks for the tips and encouragement
