  1. I had the same issue years ago. My own fault however. I didn't take care of myself at first and by year two of neglect ,I had given myself a hernia. My band was placed in '06 and I had a hernia in '08. What I learned was I had an early version of the band at the time. My doctor repaired the hernia and gave me a new band. I was told the newer band had more leeway and flexibility. Therefore, even if you over eat you are not as likely to cause severe damage as with the old version. I never had an issue again after the revision. To be honest, I often still drink to fast and sometimes still over eat. Still my band is alright.

  2. Thankyou, I needed that pep talk, especially first thing this morning :). I get so frustrated with myself, and I need to remind myself that I have came this far.....I do not want to go back! One step in from of the other....

Your very welcome! That what were here for! Let's face it, us Bariatric types are a different breed. We all go through similar troubles I think. We should start a colony, Protein Shakes for all!

  3. I'm sorry you are stuggling. I think we all go through periods where we are simply not being healthy. For me, lack of motivation lasts weeks at times even months. My advice is not to rely on friends. I know it's a common strategy but ultimately, your weight loss is yours alone. My recombination is to start walking. Even if it's 15 minutes daily and increase steadily. As for food, quit cold turkey. Get all the junk out of the house. Sugar craves sugar. Once your on track and feel confident again have your treats.

  4. Melted cheese did stick for a long time, but not so much now. I am however eight years post. I will say you gave to be able to listen to your band. Some days your band will not tolerate even the simplest things. Mine for example acts up when I'm under severe stress. My doctor says stress will tighten up your muscles, I vouch for that.

  5. I admit I eat pizza as a treat. When I do I cram it with veggies. I have a large salad and one slice of veggie pizza. Or one pizza and three or so wings and celery. For me it's best to eat in moderation instead of omitting certain foods. I also incorporate fruit or veggies in ALL meals even treat meals. I also follow 80% -20% rule. I eat clean Breakfast, lunch and Snacks and eat carbs with dinner or swap it around as needed. For example Sunday mornings I make the kids a big breakfast. I will make pancakes and add fresh blueberries. Then lunch is salad dinner is tuna & veggies. In maintanance it's important to balance regular life too.

  6. I'm glad you had that settled. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but never hesitate to go to the doctor when something doesn't feel right. Some foods will always stick, what that food is can be differnt for everyone. I have friends who can't eat eggs. I can eat just about everything but grapes. Other foods will cause upset stomach . So your back on solids take your time and introduce things slowly to learn what works for you.

  7. You may still have some internal swelling then. Otherwise your too tight. I've learned through the years some things slide down easier. I've had times where I was too tight and was able to drink tea and coffie but not Water, by the time I went to the doctor to check it out I had esophagus swelling. Check with your doctor to be safe. Hope it works out
