Hi my name is Nancy.
I am a respiratory therapist who works a DME company. I have been married to a wonderful man for almost 41 years. We have 2 grown sons and a beautiful daughter-in-law. Plus, 2 awesome grandchildren!
I have been struggling with my weight most of my adult life. Probably since puberty!
I wasn't a heavy child or anything like that, however, I was teased even by my own mother! I remember when I was in 8th grade, she had my twin sister and I on Weight Watchers. At that time, we were probably 20-30 pounds overweight. Before our menstrual cycle started, my twin and I were wearing petite size 2 and 3.
At one point, when we were about 14 years old, we went out with our cousin (she was at least 6 years older than us), she took us for sub sandwiches. These sandwiches were not on WW diet back in the 1960's. We were punished when we got home!
I have had a love/hate relationship with the scale! About 7 years ago, I had look into bariatric surgery, but did not pursue it. I have done WW, LA weight loss, hypnosis, Adipex, you name it, I've probably been on it!
It wasn't until my son decided to have the bariatric sleeve in April of this year that I took it more seriously. In May 2014, I went to a seminar regarding the different types of surgery that I decided surgery was right for me. With fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, asthma, back issues and a BMI of 41 - makes me a perfect candidate.
I had my initial consultation July 3 with the surgeon. Pschy evaluation this coming Friday. I've already had appointments with a nutritionist, physical therapist, social worker and cardio-pulmonary nurse. I've been keep a food diary since the July 3rd appt. keeping my calories to a range of 1200 - 1500. Eating loads of vegetables and protein. Little fruit due to the sugar and breads. I haven't weighed myself, but have noticed changes in my face and the way my clothing fits!
I am great dieter and a VERY poor maintainer! I am hoping this site will help me in my journey before and after the weight loss surgery.
I wish everyone continued success during the WL journey!
Take care!
