Band was a huge mistake?
GummyTummy replied to Rebeccaabrooks86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If he won't help you, find someone that will. It is not normal or healthy to be spitting up stomach contents constantly. From everything I have read, band is not the answer to long term weight issues and often results in serious complications. Good luck. You deserve to be happy and healthy. -
Hi Emily Almost everyone =) search the topic on here, you will find plenty of lamenting and some in depth explanations about why it occurs. Usually lasts for about 7-10 days but can be longer Good luck girly

Great work. I have had the unfortunate pattern of lose for two to three weeks then stall for 8 to 10 days almost my entire post op experience. When I lose its a decent amount however. My body is reluctant to let go of... itself errr its extra luggage. We can do this. -
Very normal to experience sensations in nerves that have been severed because you have been having them your whole life. Additionally, a couple of things mimic hunger, the foremost being acid in your tummy. It's a great idea to take a PPI for the first six months after surgery to calm this feeling down but I still get very hungry myself, I just eat way less when I do. I was kind of hoping to never be hungry physically but we all have to negotiate between what is physical hunger and what is psychological or head hunger. Make sure you don't think you are hungry as opposed to feeling hungry.

How is a stall even possible?
GummyTummy replied to Jill7768's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your body is designed to survive and when starvation occurs, it will convert stores of fat to energy yes, but even more, it will start doing things like converting starch to sugar. That is right, when you starve yourself which is what consuming 500 calories is, your body responds by slowing your metabolism and conserving energy. That also means you will eventually enjoy things such as hair loss and fatigue. Your initial weight loss is related to the loss of hospital fluids and the glycogen stores your body normally keeps in muscles for short term energy. When you lose that glycogen, you lose the Water that keeps it Fluid in your muscles. Your body will eventually rebuild the stores plus the water it takes to store it, hence a stall. Some people even gain weight during this time. Make sure to consume Protein and start upping your calories as directed. -
Ask your doctor about GENEPRO Protein, I tried a sample from them of their ultra refined powder and mixed it in with everything from hot tea and coffee to Peanut Butter and cream cheese on a cracker. It literally has no taste and doesn't mess with the consistency of things, but I have a hard time buying that its protein content is as high as it claims. I haven't asked my doc about it yet but will see him in late December so if you see yours first, go for it. Try it out too, you can get a little sample pack from them for like 1.50 on amazon it has a lot of great reviews and only one or two not so great.

5 days post surgery and I still dont have that full feeling?
GummyTummy replied to chanze26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two things are happening right now. One, your stomach is a funnel for most liquids, including the thicker ones. Two, all the nerves that used to tell you when you were full, were just cut. So adhere to the guidelines set forth for you. The next few weeks will likely be difficult for you and you will experience hunger again. You wont get to feel real restriction until you are in coarse purees or soft foods so treat your new tummy well. =)
