yes as said our bands are just a tool......your biggest friend is always going to be will power....our bands dont stop u from making bad choices.....maybe try and stick to the 80/20 rule.....if you eat healthy 80% of the time then the remaining 20% you can have a treat this works well for a lot of people...i still have treats.....but as the word implies its a treat....and only a small one... this isnt an easy road at all....and it never will be....our triggers that made us comfort eat etc they are still with us....we have to find the skills to either turn off these triggers or find other coping options rather than food.....it isnt easy....just do the best you can Leeanne:lol: -
are we talking about suppositries for the obvious reasons or are we talking for medication purposes.... if for the obvious....as long as your taking in some fibre of some sort and lots of Water then you should be ok...lots of bandits have a few going to the loo problems....and find many ways around this before suppositries.... if they are medication then take oral meds.....yes many analgaesics come in suppositry form...rofl I havent known any bandits to have the need to use them:crying: Leeanne:lol:

yes thats the way to do it.....just blend the meal you have cooked the family for their dinner...maybe add extra sauce/gravy it really is up to you there is a lot of choice....all vegies with gravies, sauces....casseroles....roasts n veg.....souffle's....curries..... make things to your taste to be appetising and good fresh food is very nutricious and this stage will be over soon Leeanne

i dont think losing the weight initially is the problem for most of us its keeping it off i too have done jenny, WW, atkins, diet pills, Lite n easy you name it I have tried it....always lost weight....but always went off it and then back it came with friends so its a decision only you can make i was banded 13 months ago and have lost well and yes its hard work....this isnt a magic cure....but if you follow the rules and have will power and when you can manage get some exercise too then you will be succesful sure most of us have a few bad days on the way....but they are soon forgotten when you start to look and feel so much better and also if your band is working well and you find good restriction you wont have too much hunger either.... so only you can decide good luck Leeanne -
yes good luck Damo take the pain killers make sure you sip sip sip the fluids gentle walking after op and the heat packs all hep with the gas pains most of us get take care and see you on the other side Leeanne:thumbup:

dont be hesitant to go and get another fill it can take quite a few before your hunger diminishes until then its sheer will power and even once you have good restriction you still need the will power to not munch on stuff...not from hunger but for head hunger good luck Leeanne

Daily Calories
cuddles_01au replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Im an aussie and banded 13 mths when i was first banded and recovered i put myself on 1,500 cals per day for the first 2 mths then after my first fill i went down to 1200 cals per day then after I had lost quite a bit I dropped it down to 900-1,000 cals per day and thats what i am doing now we need at least that much to remain healthy, have enough energy for all daily tasks and for good loss of weight and like most I do try to have Protein first though I feely admit to my love of a potatoe most evenings with my dinner but its usually very small about the size of an egg wishing everyone heaps of luck on their journies Leeanne:thumbup: -
well thank you hehehehe but remember my golden rule...dont compare yourself to anyone else's weight loss yours is amazing too fanny and emma yours will be too we all lose at our own rate and its different for all of us we are ALL doing well  **hugs** Leeanne
-
thank you hun I have been banded exactly 13 months:thumbup:
-
also remember if your over the age of 30yrs and havent had private ins before then you also pay a 2% loading on top of the fee mine is 42% loading which makes my health insurance costly.....but i still keep it up and it pays to stay in it incase of any band problems that may occur down the track

No i dont think ur being dramatic hun cause it isnt any use to you when you die now if you go over to the yahoo lapband msg board you will find a thread all about APRA the letter from your GP and surgeon must be worded in a specific way for them to release the money so i suggest you go over and have a look it will be a good thread for you to read to get all the info you need I would have done that too if i had the super but as i didnt i had to go the private health route Leeanne -

hun it can get confusing but medicare do not contribute to private hospital fee's in any way at all the stay in the private hospital and the use of the theatre is where the bulk of the cost comes from medicare only contribute to item numbers of the surgery eg: surgeon, anaethetist, the actual band, blood tests, xrays, barium meal after the op and the like ofcourse if you or your partner have superanuation then it is possible to access the funds that way...a lot of people chose to do that Leeanne -

who is your health fund it isnt actually if medicare will pay medicare will pay on all item numbers there isnt a wait for them but they dont pay very much its just a pittance the health insurance is needed for the private hospital thats where the waiting time is involved and that isnt anything to do with medicare hun unless you go on a public waiting list to go through a public hospital medicare only pay a small percentage to your surgeon and a percentage for the actual silicone band and a percentage for the anaethetist hope that helps Leeanne -

yes give them a call be direct and simply say it like it is.... the last thing you want is to go ahead and be given a massive hospital bill in the thousands because there was a misunderstanding the normal rule is any obesity or weight loss surgery is a pre-existing condition and subject to the waiting period with health fund my out of pocket expense was $4,000 plus the cost of insurance which i have kept just incase i need it but without ins then anywhere between $10,000-$18,000 depending where you live, what state, and really what your surgeon decides to charge I was lucky my surgeon allows it to be paid off and im still paying him rofl but i wouldnt change it as my life has changed for the good Leeanne -

cuddles_01au replied to FalloutGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yes sadly thats correct....this is a pre-existing condition not a medical condition that has suddenly occured so its the 12 mths wait for the health fund but in the mean time get your referal and see the surgeon and get all pre-op things done i was banded 4 days after my 12mths health fund kicked in so you can get ready and then save time and good luck Leeanne -
your not likely to experience a p/b as you have no restriction the only restriction will be from the remaining swelling do follow your doc's routine it is only for a short time till your insides have fully healed and the sutures adhered completely go back to fluids/mushies as directed...your new tummy isnt ready at this time for the added weight of ordinary foods its easy to go of track but just continue following the rules and you should be fine Leeanne

What does restriction feel like?
cuddles_01au replied to ricky t's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
isnt it odd how some get the burps or hiccups and others dont.....doesnt happen to me....but i agree with the being careful....and also the bit about you soon learn when you have eaten enough....sometimes if i think ohhh just one more bite....yes I will p/b....pays to learn your own signals for when your tummy has had enough its all a learning curve for most of us but you do learn and its all good:thumbup: -
What does restriction feel like?
cuddles_01au replied to ricky t's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hello....i have seen restriction described in a few ways so maybe its different for all of us....im banded 13 mths have lost 62kgs and i have good restriction.....it means for me be extremely careful when i eat....have to have tiny bites and chew the life out of stuff.... it means to me there are quite a lot of foods i can no longer eat, whereas before this last fill i could eat most things....for me im rarely hungry now....i eat way less than a cup of food but over half a cup....i never feel full but very saitified. hope that helps a bit Leeanne -
Hello you will be fine if you choose to be banded i admit i felt like i had been run over by a bus for a few days but it soon passes and no it isnt a magic quick fix....it takes lots of hard work and will power but the end results are worth every bit of the work many of us are not educated enough in this and often think ohhh i have a band now and this will be easy.....hehehehe.....well not so but it sure does help good luck Leeanne

sorry it has taken me a while to answer Please note I have copied this from another lapband site and it is not my posting....just information I have read Dr Hainul Ahmad has ZERO gap if you have the surgery at SGOGM. the only trick to it all is to make sure you book your surgery on a date he is using an anethetist that your insurer has an agreement with that way you will have zero out of pocket expenses unless you have that hospital gap some people do of $200 etc with some hospital covers. Dr Ahnad uses anethetists who are covered by both HBF and HIF that I know of and probably others as well. If you go to your GP and ask for a care plan you will get your dietician and sports physcio for free as well.
