Hey WTE, I had the same idea....it's kind of crazy how many different sizes I have! I'm scheduled for the 16th ~ nervous but excited. So far doing ok with the liquid diet. ????

Hi there, I pretty close, too. Surg on 16th. Started my 2 wk liquid diet today-so far, so good! Meet with my surgeon again on the 12th & have leg scan (I assume for clots). Nervous but excitedat the same time. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M FINALLY DOING THIS!

Hi Georgette, I'm in the same boat as you...my surg date is 9/16, so liquid diet starts on 9/2. I'm worried about being able to stick with it, too. I guess we'll both manage, it's only 2 weeks. Not that long in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm still about a month from surg date, so I'm trying out various shakes now to find some I like for the 2 wk pre op liquid diet and then post op for protein. Glad to see so many options and ways to get creative with them :-)

I haven't told too many people...gotten mixed reactions from the few I have. Negativity is exactly what I DON'T need. They're trying to be supportive, but... Maybe I'm just being hyper-sensitive. Told my boss because I had to explain why I'll be out for at least a few weeks. Knowing how people talk in my office, I'm sure everyone will know soon enough.

Well, considering that I'm more preoccupied with how much excess skin I'll have and worrying about how I'm going to pay for the plastic surgery than I am with possible complications from major abdominal surgery, I guess the answer to your question is Yes, my narcissism is a big reason for doing this, lol. (My surgery is tentatively scheduled for next month) . :-)

Hi Karen & Sherri, I'm Janis in NJ...I turned 50 this year too. Tentative surg date is sept 16. Would love to have sleeve friends to go through this process with me! Really excited but keep hearing that nasty little inner voice that's asking "are you sure you can do this? There's no going back once it's done!" Anyone else freaking out? LOL

Not positive, but I believe the new healthcare law bans ins companies from putting a cap on coverage as of Jan 1, 2014. I don't think they're legally allowed to do that any more. You should probably call them and ask to speak to a mgr or supervisor for a written explanation (or have your surgeon's office speak to them).

Hi Nicole, my VSG is scheduled for Sept 16...i know how you feel...excited, scared, nervous, worried if I can do this, etc, etc,etc. I'll take all the support I can get! :-)

Hi there, so glad to hear you were ok alone. My mom is insisting on coming to stay with me, but I'm a little worried because she has health issues of her own so I don't know how much she can help me, much as I appreciate her offer. Hopefully I'll be mostly ok so she doesn't have to do too much!

Hi NYgirl! I'm a Jersey girl, myself...lol. I hear you, so sick of the diet roller coaster. However, I'm really looking forward to the day I can ride an ACTUAL roller coaster again if I feel like it! ????

Thanks for your post. I've had all those same thoughts and it was that kind of thinking, that I was "weak" for not being able to succeed in losing and maintaining the "natural way ", that kept me from going ahead with WLS. I had almost done it twice before, but convinced myself that I could do it on my own. Not only did I not, I managed to gain 80 more pounds. I could kick myself for wasting all of this time! But, maybe I needed to go through this in order to finally take the plunge. Tentative surgery date for VSG is Sept.16th!

Hi there, I'm new here too. Tentative surg date is Sept 16...freaking a little as it gets closer! I'm nervous about the 2 week pre op liquid diet. Anyone have any fav protein shakes? I had to wait 6 mos. too-finished all pre op tests, just 2 more nutritionist visits. YIKES!
