Hi There, I Am Only 5 Days Post Op And I Am Already Really Hungry And Find That Soup Just Doesnt Cut It, I Dont Know How I Will Get Through Til Normal Food. I Cant Sleep At Night Because Of The Hunger Pains. I Am Ashamed To Admitt That Earlier Today I Ate Some Burger Rings (chips), I Sucked On Them Until They Were Soft And Then Chewed And Chewed And Slowly Swallowed. I Didnt Have Any Trouble Getting It Down.. I Am So Confused And Down On Myself, I Feel Like Such A Failure. Thinking Maybe I Shouldnt Have Been Banded.

I am in the optifast stage 12 days before surgery and i am really struggling. I am so hungry, i can not get to sleep at night due to hungry pains and the head hunger certainly doesnt help. my sugeon had told me to try the optifast for 3 weeks before surgery but when i spoke to the dietian last week she thought 2 weeks should be enough so i ate normally again until it was 2 weeks before the op. I wanted to know how others got on and if they managed to to stick to just the optifast. I cheated last night and ate toast, i am starting to wonder if i should have the op at all, if i cant stick to the diet now!! please help, im feeling very desperate. By the way,my weight is about 115kg and the reason the surgeon suggested an extra week on optifast is because I know that i have a slightly fatty liver due to an x-ray i had done a few months ago. Also does anyone have trouble cutting out the alcohol in their diet?<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Hi everyone, I am booked in to get my lap band in about 7 weeks, so in a month I will be on optifast. I am nervous that I will be constantly starving until I recieve my first few fills. I am over weight because I eat alot and am often hungry so I dont know how I will get through, especially the optifast stage. I have tried those food replacement shakes before with no success, if we could follow those diets we wouldn't need the lap band! How did you get through? I am concerned that I will pay all this money for this operation but wont be able to follow the rules. Thanks for listening, I would love to hear about your experiences coping with these matters.:help:

I have to be on optifast for three weeks, not because of my insurance, my surgeon gets all his patients to do optifast.

Thank-you for your replies. For the record I have a BMI of about 40. I weigh just under 115kg and am about 168cm.

I do have a problem with my liver being slightly enlarged due to fatty tissue. That is why I am so concerned about the optifast stage, I need to do it successfully so that I can have the operation done by keyhole surgery. I do not want to be completely cut open.
