That sounds like very good counsel. Thank you for sharing with me. All of the posts seem to have a similar vein, yet each one is unique. I love hearing when things are repeated by different vets. It means I really need to follow that piece of advice! Thank you everyone PS Keep Posting Please. -

Any DC Metro/NoVA/MD folks
lovedXJesus replied to Amyllf2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to have Dr. Schweitzer do my surgery also. I am not sure about the sleeve, but I am having bypass surgery and they scheduled my surgery for 6-7 weeks after the insurance company approved me. It was disappointing to say the least. But I trust that things will work out like they are supposed to. I am sure it will work out for you also. -

Hi Datuh! I am having my surgery at Johns Hopkins as well. I was approved for surgery last month. Unfortunately, it did not come soon enough and my insurance is due to change on December 1. So now I will have to wait until my new insurance company gives the approval before I will get a new surgery date. Who is your surgeon? -
Has anyone else used the Core Power Protein drinks? I have tried the chocolate one and it is really very good. But I was wondering if it is an acceptable way to get your protein post-op. :/ It has 26 grams of protein, 28 carbs and 3.5 grams of fat. Is that a lot of carbs? I have not had surgery yet and was looking for some decent tasting drinks.

That's great! I am happy for you. It's nail biting sometimes with all the waiting! You are on your way!

Does anyone know what will happen if you switch you insurance right before your surgery is scheduled? I was approved for surgery by my insurance company. They told me I was when I called a few days ago (but my doctor has not called to tell me yet.)They said that the surgery was approved for December 2-9. Unfortunately, because of the new healthcare laws we need to change our policy, although it will be still be with Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield. Our current policy ends the last day in November. Anyone know the answer?

question for all you insurance savvy people.........
lovedXJesus replied to lovedXJesus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The doctor that I go to is already booking his surgeries into December. Maybe even January by now! Anyhow, his office has not even called yet to tell me that I was approved. I found out as an aside when I called the insurance company about a question concerning my daughters physical. That was a week ago. I am not too worried about it I guess. If its going to happen, it will. I was really just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen and how it had worked out. Thank you for taking the time to answer my post though. I appreciate it. -

I had someone say to me that Thanksgiving was just a day. You can have your family over any day of the year and serve traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner foods. Their point was, that I did not have to feel the urge to over indulge in the meal on Thanksgiving because I could make and serve the same foods anytime I liked. I think that is very encouraging and I try to use that philosophy at other times when I am tempted to eat something just because it is available and I don't want to miss out.

Hi Everyone, I was just curious...... Are there any other born again Christians out there who have had WLS? I have not had my surgery yet but was wondering if there were others out there who share my faith. How they might have wrestled with having the surgery in the first place? That kind of thing. Thanks for your input

Any Born Again Christians?
lovedXJesus replied to lovedXJesus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shortcake31 and Tshine01, Thank you for your insight. I have definitely been praying about it and have asked God to make it really hard for me to have it done if it's outside of His will. I really want it to be His will and not my own. Of course, I really want it done too! LOL I was surprised that when I presented it to my husband he did not object. He is a pretty straight forward kind of guy and I thought he would have said that it was not something I should do because I should trust God. THAT was my first "sign" that surgery might be ok. Tshine01: I would keep praying about it like Shortcake did and ask God to show you what to do. God Bless -

Thank you to everyone out there for their input. I think what I feel is that I would be able to do this without surgery if I had enough faith. I struggle with that. I really want to have the surgery, but like Waitingtoexhale, I only want to do what the Lord blesses. Thank you for your prayers. -
polly2107: hang in there! I can not imagine how hard this is for you. but never give up hope. the weight we are does not define who we are. you are so much more than extra pounds. I have not had any surgery yet. I am still waiting for my initial appointment, which they rescheduled to a later date!! I don't know what your options are but it seems that you might find a doctor that could do a revision. maybe a doctor that is at a teaching hospital close to you. don't lose heart. "for you are fearfully an wonderfully made"

Thank you so much for your honesty and your authenticity. It is exactly what I have been seeking on some of the boards. I really needed to know the truth of what I am getting into (still waiting for a surgery date). I want to know about long term weight management and being able to keep the weight successfully. I feel like this is such a huge step. Like it is my last chance to lose this weight and keep it off. I don't want to fail. You have made it real. I hope you will keep us updated on your success! -
Period Problems!
lovedXJesus replied to Norah Mitchel's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not gone through that personally. But my sister had RNY surgery about 6 years ago and it put her into menopause. She was 45 at the time. I believe that surgery can do that to a woman's body. Any surgery, not just WLS. Still, you might want to check in with your GYN just to make sure everything is ok. -
