    August Sleevers Check In

My goodness that is a lot of meds tanglesia! I only had an Rx for acid and a liquid narcotic pain medicine. Were the rest of yours as a result of the surgery, or some already you were taking? I hope that's not too personal a question, I just was shocked when I saw how much you have to take. Do others who have been sleeved also have to take this much medicine post op?

    August Sleevers Check In

My doc didn't require a particular pre-op diet, but recommended losing at least 10 pounds to help the liver shrink so it would be easier to access the stomach and rescue the chances of having to do an open procedure. I asked him if a shake for breakfast and lunch and a lite dinner was okay, and he said it was a good plan. He said 2 weeks of liquids only (which he didn't necessarily recommend) can shrink your liver up to 20%. I lost 12 pounds on the 2 meal replacements and the doc said my surgery went perfectly on Monday! Good luck with insurance approval whatever you decide to do for pre-op diet!
  3. Had my sleeve done on Monday, the 4th, and will be discharged from the hospital in a couple hours. For me, the gas pains and nausea have been the worst of it. The PCA pain medicine made me very nauseated, almost to the point of vomiting, but my nurses have been a wonderful support and help. Switched to a liquid narcotic painkiller and that did the trick with the nausea. Gas is still inside me, and that's been a struggle to get rid of, but doc said it should go away in the next day or so. Fingers crossed! My surgeon was wonderful and has come to check on me frequently after the procedure. So glad I did this, and the procedure is finally done. Now looking forward to the weeks/months ahead. Happy to answer any specific questions for anyone with upcoming dates. Will be posting my progress along the way as well.

    August Sleevers Check In

Surgery on Monday! Trying to get everything taken care of this weekend to come home to a clean, prepared home. Congrats to all yesterday, and best wishes to everyone with approaching dates!
  5. ...I'm starting to get a little nervous. I took a lot of time and weighed all my options before finally deciding to undergo the sleeve. I know this is the right choice for me. I'm not worried about the surgery. This is more about how I will deal with how quickly I will (or won't) lose the weight, how obsessed I have always been with the scale (I weigh myself no fewer than three times a day), and whether I'll be satisfied with my progress. I have every reason to believe this is the very best thing for me. And I'm excited. I just hope I don't let my head interfere. I've been quietly reading the forums for several months now. Seems like a supportive group of people, I look forward to this journey...and will look her for wisdom along the way.
