The best surgeon on Hampton Roads, Va is: Dr. Terracina
dacarter replied to mswisdom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I know this is an older post, but just in case someone is searching I'd like to add my opinion. I interviewed the few options I had in the Hampton Roads area as well as several doctors Central Florida while I lived there. Dr. Terracina far surpasses any expectations I would have for someone I wanted beside me on this journey. I've never met someone so caring and genuinely passionate about helping others reclaim their lives. I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks and there is not one bit of doubt or fear in my mind about his capabilities. His office has been incredibly attentive to my insane amount of questions, never once making me feel like I was a bother. It is a rare thing. Just my opinion - The other surgeons I met with seems to be their for business only. I wasn't comfortable with that. -
Hampton Roads, VA -- soon to be navy wife -- no kids -- 32 -- LF someone similar!
dacarter replied to Susanomic's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good to see people near me. 28 - army wife here (Ft Eustis). I live in Gloucester - waiting for my last nutritionist appointment and hoping to have my bypass in October. I've been considering this surgery for quite a few years so it's a little surreal that it could be here so soon. -
So here is my big dilemma. I am super embarrassed that I have not been able to lose the weight on my own. I truly feel like the biggest failure. I've decided to do bypass and confident in my decision, however I'm not sure what I'll say to those who ask about the weight loss? I've been very private and don't want anyone to know I'm doing the surgery for fear of condescending opinions I guess. I don't know. Anyone else dealing with this?

Getting nervous about Tricare North
dacarter replied to Bring It On's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon had me fill out a sheet of everything I've tried and dates. Also I included what happened. I was nervous so I also included receipts of all the times I ordered medifast and other programs. The scheduler says they've seen just the question and answer sheet faxed and accepted. Standard north seems to be easy in regards to getting approved versus my experience on prime. It's actually why I switched. -
Thanks everyone! I think I'll keep the details private depending on who the audience is. It's been hard getting my mom on board until she actually went to an appt. I know she's worried about the surgery part. My husband is incredibly supportive so that helps. People just don't understand. I spent the last year eating 1200 cals a day and working out to only achieve a 20lb loss. It's ridiculous to do all that hard work and realize you aren't even close to the 120lbs you really need to get rid of. The day I'm able to play with my kids and not be in pain is what I'm looking forward too. You all are awesome!

Getting nervous about Tricare North
dacarter replied to Bring It On's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't it interesting? I started my journey in the south region which requires several labs a three month diet as well as NUT and psych. I moved to Tricare north with standard and I'm only required 2 NUT visits and documented weight loss attempts. My surgeon the required the psych eval which was nothing. Easy approval.
