  1. Hi everyone. I had my surgery on 10/22/07. I've had some ups and downs this week with blood sugar problems, but overall feel I'm doing well and am planning to go back to work tomorrow. My dietician recommended the Syntrax Nectar protein powder, which I'm using. While the taste isn't too bad, the smell of it is awful (at least to me). Anyone have suggestions for another brand to try?
  2. Lonestar, part of my postop clear liquid diet includes a whey protein isolate powder that I mix with 8 ounces of water and drink 3 times a day. Each serving has 23 grams of protein. Ask your surgeon or dietician about it. My dietician didn't tell me about the protein supplement until my final visit with her prior to surgery.
  3. Hi Lonestar5212. I was banded on Monday, 10/22, and am also diabetic. I had no problems with the preop dieting. I did fine the day of surgery - it fact my blood sugar was high all day. Tuesday morning, though, mMy blood sugar dropped to 56. Since my doctor had said no fruit juice because of the acid, I tried some milk (skim milk does have sugar in it). When I rechecked 15 minutes later, I was at 51, and the surgeon said to go ahead and try orange juice. The juice caused some stomach upset and didn't sit too well, but it did work. The surgeon made some adjustments in my medication, and I'm checking my glucose levels frequently at home. I think you just have to be vigilant and monitor very closely. Have you talked to your doctors?
  4. My surgery is tomorrow, 10/22/07! I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited and very determined. Good luck to everyone, and I look forward to sharing as we move forward.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Hi everyone. I'm from Illinois and will be getting my band on 10/22. A little nervous, but anxious to move ahead. I've learned a lot from lapbandtalk.com and I'm glad I found this thread. After 23 wonderful years of being married, I'm single now - it's been 4 long tough years, and I am ready to move on. I've only told a few people (my son, two very good friends - one of whom will be my anesthetist for my surgery, and of course, now all of you) that I'm being banded. From what I've seen here, I know I'm going to have a lot of support. Looking forward to being part of this group!

Hi. I'm in Springfield and new to this. My surgery is scheduled for 10/22/07. A little nervous (...maybe more than a little...) but anxious to move forward.
