  1. Does anybody else go through mood swings since they had weight loss surgery? I don't know what's wrong with me sometimes. I take care of my elderly grandparents. I do the cooking, laundry, and help out with doctor appointments. When I cook I have to cook my food separately because since surgery a lot of things they still eat I can't eat right now. So I was advising my grandfather that he may need to order take out for him and my grandma because the spaghetti didn't turn out right and he begins to jump down my throat. Now I'm doing my best and it seems like I get no appreciation for it. So I snapped, and explained to them that I'm doing my best and it doesn't help that they are jumping down my throat like its my job to do this. Maybe I'm wrong for getting upset, but when someone is trying to help you and the only one out of the 5 grand kids to help them then they should be more appreciative. Sorry just needed to vent.

    Mood swings

Yes it is terrible. I get really angry over things I usually don't get mad about. It sucks!!!

  4. I'm taking my vitamins, but sometimes I forget.
  5. At what point did you all stop crushing your pills?

    ER Visit - TMI

I'm going to start doing that because I get backed up and when I finally do have to go it is painful.
  7. In the ER. For the past couple of days I've been experiencing abdominal cramps so severe I feel it up to my chest. I've already had my period 2 weeks ago, but the cramps sort of feel like that or if you were to have diarrhea, but bowel movements seem to be fine. The longest I've gone was a week without a BM, and after that I had my BM Thursday and again on Sunday. I'm nervous because when I research online I found out that it could be an ulcer or gallstones and I pray that its neither one of them. Prayers and advice is welcome.
  8. I know how you feel, I will be 2 mos post op Monday, and it seems like the only weight I'm losing is in my legs. My belly still makes me look like I'm pregnant, and I still have my double chin. So discouraging when your grandmother tells you that you look like you've gotten bigger...lol...have to laugh to keep from crying sometimes.
  9. I feel that since I've had surgery I think about food more than ever. I watch cooking shows, I'm buying more snacks just to see my daughter eat them. My daughter is actually at a normal weight, 5'10 @ 129 lbs. She's one of the lucky ones who can eat what she wants and never gain any weight. Just sharing so you all don't think I'm over feeding my daughter. There are 24 hrs in a day and I think about food 12 hrs of that. I guess its because I'm not doing anything else. I'm an unemployed single parent with a lot of time on my hands.
  10. The reason I believe its hunger is because I know the feeling and its familiar. Stomach growling, headache, and nervousness. Things I used to feel before surgery. But I can agree that my body fibs at times because no sooner do I take my first bite I'm full. I just shake my head and say really, I was just starving and now I can't even eat anymore after 1 or 2 bites. So I can agree to a certain extent.
  11. I'm single and have been for almost 15 years. My daughter is going on 14 and the last person I was with was her dead beat father who has nothing to do with her. I guess that played a big part on why I let my weight get out of control. My mom seemed to think that I went into a depression because I just stopped caring about my appearance and I just felt unattractive. When I'm around men I don't show any interest because I automatically assume that they wouldn't want to have anything to do with someone like me. I felt disgusted, and often thought that no man would ever want someone as big as me. I was a 342 lbs of hot mess. I'm down 34 lbs since surgery 7 weeks ago tomorrow, but obviously still have a long way to go. I miss having someone in my life. My question is, how long did it take for you to be noticed by the opposite sex? Did anyone of you give yourselves makeovers? I know I still have a long ways before I can have the confidence in myself. I mean if I make eye contact with a man I automatically look away because I assume that's what he's gonna do. Any thoughts?

From the 3s to the 2s

About to make my 2 mos mark on 6/8, and still need to lose 9 lbs to get below 300 lbs. I doubt it will happen for me by then. SW 342, CW 308.4
  13. Thanks Alex for motivating me to stop obsessing over the scale and shift that focus more on the diet plan. I was one of the ones that felt like I wasn't losing fast enough, but that had a lot to do with my nutritionist telling me that as well. In 6 weeks I lost a total of 31 pounds at the time I saw her last week and she advised me that by 6 weeks I should have already lost between 45-48 lbs. Talk about a real downer...You're excited about any weight loss only for your nutritionist to say, "Sorry, you're losing weight too slow." Maybe I'm not the only one here who has a nutritionist who has criticized their weight loss. But after speaking to all of you I'm not concerned anymore. I'll lose at my own pace and remembering that this is not a competition.

    Damn scale!

Yeah I like to use Mrs. Dash instead of salt. At first I was a salt fanatic, so it took a little getting use to, but now I don't even think about it anymore.

    Damn scale!

I know how you feel struggling to get out of the 300s myself. I'm down to 308, so if I don't stall, again, I should be under 3 by next week or so. Hang in there.
  16. The pain will get better. Try and force yourself to walk even if its 5 mins a day and gradually increase it to 10, 15, 20, and so on. That's the key to recovering quickly.
  17. She said that I was below the amount of weight loss they were expecting me to lose at 6 weeks post op. I've only lost 31 lbs and should have lost at least 45 - 48 lbs by now. I'm getting my water in but I admit I'm falling short on protein. I should be getting at least 60 grams a day but barely getting 20 grams if that in a day. I need to be increasing my exercises also. My goal is to get from 310 to 299. This goal will be set for 2 weeks. Then I'll set another goal, and so on.
  18. I'm trying different protein shakes and powders just to find one I can tolerate. I'm using myfitnesspal to log my food journals.
  19. Awe @@TEXASLADY52, I love the way you put that into a better perspective for me. You're right I'll get to my goal when I get there and have to learn that patience and hard work will get me there. This is not a competition and we are all striving to get to the goal line. This is my journey and mine alone. Thanks everyone for making me look at this in a more positive light. I'm thankful I found this site and I'm truly thankful for all of you.
  20. How were some of you able to lose so much weight in so little time? For example 3 mos post op and have already lost almost 50-80 lbs. What are ya'll secrets? Because I'm 6 weeks and only have lost 32 lbs. I'm far from losing almost 80 by the time my 3 month surgiversary arrives. Help me please!!!

    ER Visit - TMI

@@Martene81, you're right! I have to remember that I had surgery and a lot of the things I used to like my stomach may not agree with it anymore. Which is a way to keep me in check. I'm being careful now.

    ER Visit - TMI

Awe thanks, they did a CT scan and blood work and didn't find anything. Which I'm glad because I thought it was an ulcer or gallstones. I really believe its a bowel thing, maybe I'm backed up or something. Because I'm still having these cramps.

    4th of July Challenge

My weight today is 308.8 At this rate I'll probably get out of the 3s by next week....AWESOME!!!
  24. @@JamieLogical, I eat fish and chicken all day every day. But according to my nutritionist I don't even enough everyday to get my protein from food.
  25. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I know that this takes time and work I just thought I was doing something wrong because I keep stalling.
