3 weeks out and struggling - need advice
leag78 replied to titan05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unfortunately you are going through the 3 week stall. Your body is going through a resting phase. I guarantee that one day you'll get on the scale and you'll drop like 5 lbs, because that's what happened to me. I hate stalls, but I guarantee you're losing inches though, even if the scale isn't moving. Hang in there your doing great. 19 lbs is awesome! -

Believe me when I say I appreciate all of your advice. If I didn't I would never post. I'm only 3 mos post op so of course there is a lot to learn. But please keep in mind that we all come here to vent. We all struggle from time to time. That is why I get offended when some say that this is the easy way out, because it is far from easy. Just like alcoholics still attend meetings to overcome their addiction, I come here for reassurance. I have no doubt in my mind that I can do this, hell, I believe we all can if we work hard enough for it. As I stated many times this is where I get all of my support from. The reason I'm saying this is to remind everyone here that we look for support not to be shamed or brow beaten. We all know the consequences of our actions, and posting here helps me cope. That is all!

No I'm not offended by what you're telling me. Half of the time, when I post, I'm just venting as we all do. I know that soda and liquor is bad, and haven't cheated with either of those. That's why I asked for alternatives to Water. I was never told about sparkling water, so I asked you all what you thought. Trust me when I tell you that I didn't come this way for nothing. I'm taking this very seriously, but I'm also only human too. I became obese because of the bad choices I made regarding food and beverages. So occasionally my mind slips back into old habits, thus, craving the forbidden. As you all have stated many times, we didn't get this way over night, so just because we had this surgery it doesn't mean that poof all of your impure thoughts on junk food are magically cured. This is just my way of working through all of that by venting to you all.

Water gets boring, and my brother had the sleeve 5 mos ago, and he started drinking wine within the 1st month of being sleeved, and I'm 3 mos post op bypass, and just want a little carbonation, and I figure he does wine, so why I can't have some sparkling water?

I finally lost my first 50 lbs. I'm 3 mos post op. It was a struggle because I kept stalling left and right. I hope the next 50 lbs comes off easier than the first 50 lbs. Still gotta lose 112 lbs to reach my surgeons goal for me, and 132 lbs to get to my own personal goal. sw 342, cw 292, gw (surgeon) 180, my gw 160, height 5'8

I never thought about cerebrating my 50 lbs lost, but that is a good idea for every 50 lbs I'm gonna treat myself to a mani/pedi. Thanks for the tip!!!

How long did it take you to lose the 93lbs?? U look amazing congrats!!!! I've lost 80lbs in 3.5 mo and 93lbs from my heaviest. And thank you! I feel so much better now! What is your secret? Because I'm 3 mos post op and only lost 50 lbs. I would love to know what you did so I can speed my weight loss up like that. Help a sista out...lol

Thanks Chrystee, I'm enjoying the lost, but it just seemed like a lot to get here.

Stay away from the scale!

I can't help but wonder how it's going for you! I am right where you are weight wise. I can't wait for 299. I finally broke free of the 300s, and I'm now down to 294.8... It will happen for you soon enough...now can't wait to get out of the 200s, but obviously I got a long way to go for that. Thanks for checking on me, and good luck to you on your journey. -
I'm officially going to put my scale up, because I'm getting frustrated when it doesn't move. I think if I just focus on my fluids and diet I believe the weight will fall. I'm just going to have my weight checked during follow up visits and judge how my clothes fit. The scale is only discouraging me. That is all!

I hate the fact that I can't even close my legs. Its like gravity keeps pulling them apart.

Get out of here that is a picture of your 16 years old daughter...just kidding...you look absolutely amazing. Hope my transformation is like yours when my surgiversary comes. -
I say we all agree that we don't let that damn scale discourage us from reaching our goals.

Well you have all of our support. Wishing you a quick recovery and welcome to the losers bench

leag78 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love to hear stories like this because I can't wait to experience this myself. My main reason for surgery was my health, but also that I'm ready to be noticed by the opposite sex again. I'm 36 yrs. old and sick of being alone. I'm always ignored like I'm not even there and I then got so used to it that I always expect it now. So congrats and thanks for sharing. -
CW 295.6, GW for this challenge 280 again...

Depressed because of weight gain
leag78 replied to Tess White's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are only 4 weeks out, and your body is still healing. Your weight will fluctuate in the beginning because your body is still trying to recover. I think by your sixth week, you will be fine. Just try to focus on protein and water, as they will be your best friend in this journey and your weight will fall. You're just going through the healing process unfortunately right now. -
Didn't make it to goal, stuck at 296. Hopefully I'll make labor day goal.

Former smokers. where ya at?
leag78 replied to kbingo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking 1 month prior to my surgery. I'm currently almost 3 months post op, 4 months smoke free. Every day is still a struggle because I still think about smoking from time to time. But the thing is, I'm okay with that, because I come out on top, and I applaud myself on being able to not give into temptation. The point is whether you are 1 day smoke free to 10 years smoke free, just being able to put the pack down and never looking back is an amazing accomplishment because some people have told me that they'll die with the cigarette in their mouth because they feel they can't quit, and to me that's the saddest thing I ever heard. So I chose to not let the cigs rule my life like that. -
Hello you mentioned you were a slow loser. So am I...I was wondering if you mind sharing your numbers (HW and CW) and if you reached goal?
-
I'm in...thanks
-
This is really a struggle for me because I'm a smoker. I have cut down a lot because the only time I smoke is when I go out and that's once a week, usually Friday night. I know that your surgeon will not operate on you if you are a smoker but I don't really consider myself a smoker because I maybe smoke about 2 - 3 cigs a week. I've even gone 30 days without smoking. What do you think. Also if you have any tips on how I can quit it would be appreciated because obviously cold turkey does not work.

296.4 Yay under 300 lbs...unfortunately I don't think I'm gonna reach challenge goal by Saturday...????
-
Girl I wish I was moving that fast. But I was told that the more you weigh, the faster you lose, but if that's the case I should be losing as fast as you because my weight at surgery was 342 lbs, 4/8/15, and 10.5 weeks only lost 45 lbs. Current weight 297 lbs. Not complaining but unfortunately I think I might be a slow loser.
