I'm also one week post op as of today and am taking Celebrate calcium plus and Celebrate b-12 quick dissolve vitamins along with Flintstone complete vitamins. But I agree with Blashlee, your doctor will advise you of all that.

slight rant with a huge dose of disappointment

I know the feeling. I was supposed to have my surgery in January but ended up having my surgery 4/8. Hang in there your surgery is coming! -
I had mine on the 8th. It does get better
-
Hello fellow RNYs, I had my surgery 4/8 and so far so good. No complications. Surgery day I checked in at 10:30am, had to do the whole pre op thing, surgery was supposed to begin @ 12:30p but I didn't actually go back to the OR until 1pm. As soon as I got to the OR I through up everywhere. My surgeon asked "Are you throwing up?" and embarrassingly I said yes and apologized. Everyone in the OR was so understanding and advised me that it's not the first time that happened. I think the only reason why I vomited was because of nerves and also the fact that I hadn't ate anything since they day before and they are popping me full of meds. But after that I was put under and woke up in recovery feeling like a new person. No regrets so far, but still mentally crave food I can't have. So it's a work in progress.

Wow you look so awesome.

I am 5 days post op and on day 3 they started me on soft foods while still in the hospital. They tried me on scrambled eggs, and I had to place a portion of the eggs in a 1oz cup. I couldn't even finish the cup before getting full. But I didn't feel any pain or nausea and they are okay with me and soft high protein foods for my first month. My advice to you is to stick with your dr diet for you and when you do begin soft foods, the secret is to chew chew chew and take your time and break before bites. That's what's been working for me.

Praying for your recovery. Hope you get better soon. "In Jesus name, Amen!"

Thanks everyone for their prayers and well wishes. I'm doing okay. Just a little sore. Trying hard to get my fluids in. I'm currently at the stage "what have I done to myself? "

How long from first consult to surg date?
leag78 replied to doyouhear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first consult was 7/24/14 and my surgery date is April 8th. Originally was in Jan but my protein was too low for them to operate. I'm good to go now. -
Congrats on your date. My date is April 8th. Nervous and excited all at the same time.

I'm so excited I finally got my surgery date. I can't believe that I'm finally gonna make it to the losers club. I waited 8 long months for this, and I'm more nervous than excited. I just have to take a pre-op class. Can anyone tell me what to expect during this class?? Any advice is welcome.

Friendships and Gastric bypass surgery
leag78 replied to leag78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@blashlee thanks for your input, and I am beginning to realize that she isn't really a friend. At least not any friend I want to have. I guess I'm out growing her, because I don't think I've ever liked her personality, and now I'm just fed up with it now. -
@@nicern99, thank you for sharing your story. I was really upset yesterday because this is something I want really bad and to be told that something like protein is the only thing stopping me right now is really hurtful. I'm gonna go to my doctor tomorrow if the snow isn't too bad and try to figure out what's going on with my protein.

Well for those that don't know, I started this process back in July 2014 and because I have Optima Family Care ( medicaid) there is a 6 months waiting period filled with pre op testing, psych evals, nutrition and surgeon visits. We'll I completed my lab work back in Dec and found out that my Protein was too low to operate and my goal was to increase my protein to normal in order to have the surgery. I had to also wait an additional 30 days before I can get tested again. Fast forward to 30 days later and not only did my protein remain below the norm but it in fact dropped some more. Keep in mind I started drinking Protein shakes, I have eggs for Breakfast every morning. I bought a huge container of peanuts from Sam's Club and I eat a lot of chicken and fish, so how could this be, right? Now I have to go back to nutritionist Monday to get me on a high protein diet. Now I have to wait another month to be tested again. If my protein is still too low I have to go back to PCP to determine if there is an underlying problem that is affecting my protein. This is the best part, I received a letter from medicaid stating that my medical coverage will be expiring effective 1/31, because according to them they never received my renewal form that they claimed to have mailed out that I never received. Unfortunately there was no way for me to stop them from cancelling my insurance coverage so I had to re apply by phone yesterday for like an hour. So now my insurance have to be reinstated before I can have my blood drawn again. And according to medicaid policy, it takes up to 45 days to process an application. I'm starting to feel that I'm not meant to have this surgery. Please someone help me keep my sanity and stay focus because I'm this close to saying nevermind.

Well again protein not normal for surgery so now I have to go back to my PCP so he can determine why my body isn't getting enough protein. I'm really starting to feel like this surgery isn't going to happen for me. I literally cried for 2 hrs once I found out. Please pray for me, because I'm on the verge of saying forget it and accept the fact that I am meant to be fat.

Yes they know I'm not supposed to be smoking but they don't really try to stop me from smoking. I agree being in the bingo hall is my trigger and I may need to take a break from going just till I can control this nicotine demon. I realized that I also believe that if I get an actual surgery date that it will also motivate me even more to quit.
