  1. You are all absolutely right, but when I went to see my nutritionist last week she told me by 6 weeks I should have lost at least 30% of my excess weight, which she calculated that I should have lost between 45-48 lbs. Before she said that I thought I was doing good, and when I read some of you alls success stories, some of you started where I started, and have already lost a significant amount of weight. So I thought I was missing something.

    4th of July Challenge

Current weight: 310 Challenge Goal weight: 280
  3. I was told I could use deodorant. That was one of the first questions I asked during my pre op class.
  4. That's why its a requirement for you to speak with a psychologist before you even get approved for surgery so that they can determine if you are mentally prepared for the changes that will occur post op. When I first saw the psychologist she had me take a personality test and follow up with her for results. Assuming I answered correctly because I'm almost 2 mos post op...lol!!!
  5. Does anybody use this stuff post op? If so, did it seem to increase the amount of your weight loss? Also, does it have a lot of protein?

    Slim fast

Thanks for the insight, everyone, so I'm just gonna sum it up by saying that slim fast is a no go. I had the bypass and was trying to find ways to get my protein in and increase my weight loss since I was told by my nutritionist that I was below the weight loss expectations.
  7. Thanks for the ideas, will definitely try them. So you don't think I stretched my pouch?

    Here is my TV Commercial--update

    Way to go...awesome...thanks for sharing!!!
  9. I can't stand the taste of the protein shakes. I'm trying new whey protein drink, fruit punch. It has 42 grams of protein per tube. But its really sweet so I have to dilute it with water. So I'm gonna do at least one of those a day.

    New Clothes?

About a month and a half out and down 1 size. Tried on a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear for about 4 years and I was able to put them on Friday and pull them up and button them. They were still a little tight but I was happy. So I said every Friday I'm gonna try them on to continue to see how loose they continue to feel.
  11. Does anyone ever feel like they are not gonna lose the weight? I sometimes feel like that. Like what if I'm the one person that is meant to be fat and no amount of surgery can change that. Even though I'm down 30 lbs since my surgery 4/8/15, I'm like what if that's it? Does anyone else have those fears? And if so, how do you cope?
  12. Everyone looks so amazing. Can't wait to get to this part of my journey.
  13. Surgery date 4/8/15, hw 342, sw 340, cw 312. BMI started at 52, now BMI 47.
  14. My final straw was being diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure last June. I already knew I was big, but I thought I was a healthy obese individual, but that wasn't the case so that's when I decided its time to get healthy and lose this weight.

    April bypass buddies.

Surgery date was 4/8/15, and I lost 29 lbs so far.
  16. Someone please help! I've tried to do the protein shakes but they are gross. I can't stand milk. I've never liked any kind of milk, so of course it makes the protein shakes even worse. I bought a whole case of premier protein shakes and I try to force myself to drink it but because I hate it so much the very thought of it makes me nauseous. Is there any advice you can give this 2 weeks post op chick?
  17. I'm sorry for your horrible experience and I'm glad you're recovering. You are truly blessed to have gone through such a scary situation and recover. Its one thing to forget and lock your keys in the car but its another thing to forget to attach the esophagus to your patient's stomach which could potentially cost them their life. That is so unforgivable.

    Weight loss

Your doing fine. You're on the right track. I started out the same way, then hit the 3 week stall and was stuck until week 4. Don't focus too much on numbers because it will drive you crazy. You are also losing inches too. Keep up the good work.

    Final count down!

Congrats and praying for you a quick and uncomplicated recovery. See you at the losers bench.

Dr. Glenn Moore - Chesapeake VA?

@@changingme5, I had the bypass. Originally chose the sleeve but was told that since I was a diabetic and had high blood pressure the bypass would be my best option.
  21. I'm over 4 weeks post op and I'm struggling with protein. I'm unable to drink the shakes because they make me nauseous so I try to get my protein in with the food I eat. I really miss hamburgers, french fries, pizza and sweets. But I have learned that the only good thing about that food was the taste because it was far from healthy for me. I also struggle with exercising, because I'm lazy. Trying my best to get better.

Dr. Glenn Moore - Chesapeake VA?

I also had Dr. Spencer. I've heard excellent things about Dr. Moore though. I'm 1 month post op and down 21 lbs. I'm absolutely happy that I went with this group, and I love that they have the SET program as well. You're gonna find them to be like your second family.
  23. My starting weight was 342 lbs, and I'm 1 month post op and down 21 lbs. I've been bouncing from 321-322 for a little over 2 weeks. How exactly did you break your stall? Like you I haven't been under 300 lbs in years. I would love to see 299, but first I got to get out the 320s...lol. Advice would be appreciated.
  24. 4 weeks post op and have lost 21 lbs so far. SW 342 lbs, CW 321 lbs, GW 180 lbs. Still have a long way to go.
