  1. I haven't told him because I don't want to hurt his feelings but this is one of my goals for my husband! We are both having VSG. We carry our weight very different, his belly is huge and the rest of him "normal". When he loses enough gut I want to go to an amusement park! He has stuffed himself in the rides at our local fair this summer but there would be no way he would make it next year if we kept the same habits . . . looking forward to next summer. BTW, I didn't have to stuff myself in the rides because I was "holding the baby".

  2. Smiling Panda, I like your screen name! Everyone at my job knows and I feel like I will be under a microscope when I return. Most have been supportive, no one has been out right negative but I feel like when I return after surgery that everyone will be watching what I am eating or if I am losing anything . . . I'll just have to deal with it and try to use it as encouragement. Good luck!

My date is Oct 20th. I have not talked to many about this part of my life. At my work only a few people even know. I worry i'll fail at this too.

  3. I understand completely! I want to do this so badly but I have a tiny fear of leaving my kids without a mother. :(

Oh the usual ... Not coming through the anaesthetic , sleeve will leak , scared of regretting , but deep down I know I have to take the risk and go for it . Hopefully I will say it's the best decision I have made eeeeeeek

  4. Livelaughlove2014, I hope this surgery leads you to a healthy pregnancy! I have PCOS too and I was one of the "lucky" ones to over come it with 2 babies. It was a long battle with many meds and surgeries spanning over 6 years. I know of a fantastic trying to conceive with PCOS forum if you're interested. Best wishes!

Hello all - im new here and will have my surgery on Monday, October 13th in Tijuana Mexico. Im flying in from Alaska. I dread the pre-op diet, leak test and removal of the drain. I turn 38 on October 8th and this is my gift to myself. The reason for my decision is help with my pcos as i have had 3 failed ivf's already. Wishing us all a successful surgery and fast recovery. God bless you all!

  5. I so hope that I will be a part of this group, so I am keeping the faith and jumping in. My last step was the psych eval and I did that last week. She said it will take 2 weeks for her to write her report and then I have to read and approve it and she will send it to my surgeon. After that the surgeon's office can submit to insurance!

  6. Sleevydreams, I love your screen name. I have BCBS of OK, my plan does cover bariatric surgery and I am going to Dr. Kureshi at MCSO in Durant. Dr. Kureshi has been doing WLS at TMC in Denison and is now coming to Oklahoma one day a week. We have met our family deductible so insurance will cover 90% of the cost. My surgeon says that our portion of his fee will be 298.00. Getting someone to tell us the hospital fee is a different story. But insurance did tell us that if we could meet our "out of pocket cost" then they will cover 100%. *Edited to add- I just saw your post that you insurance does not cover WLS. Sorry.

Hi everyone. I'm in the research phase :) I was looking into going to Mexico but now that I've read all of the posts here I'm really considering weight wise. I live in Southeast oklahoma & would love to not have to travel to Mexico if at all possible. Obviously finding a good surgeon is the most important but cost is definitely a close second for me. My question for you all is, I have BCBS of OK. Anyone else here have them? Do they cover any part of this process? If so, could you give me just a ballpark estimate of what to expect out of pocket? Thanks in advance. It's so exciting to read everyone's stories. Good luck to all of you no matter what stage you're in. :)
