This surgery feels like a big mistake.
bpbqueen replied to Anthony DeCastro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the worse time of it for the first 4 - 5 weeks. I was so frustrated and upset. Nothing tasted good, nothing sat right on my stomach and everything made me sick. I too started regretting the surgery and thinking that I had made a mistake. I could barely eat 350 calories a day. And then my doctor added back in my Zofran and a ppi and slowly but surely I was a able to eat a wider variety of food. Now at 6 months out things are so much better for me. I still only eat between 900 and 1,000 calories a day but I'm satisfied with what I do eat. It really does get better. Give it time. -
I eat them every day. I just tried the s'mores and loved it!

Has my body smell changed?
bpbqueen replied to Annek2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, it passes fairly quickly. -
I'm training for a 10k walk and usually do walks every weekend. I'd love to get together with people and walk. I'm not the fastest person but I can go miles and miles.

There are so many things that I wish the doctor would have said about what is happening to our bodies that I could write a book! -

It's a normal process in the beginning while dropping weight so fast. I believe it's cause by Ketosis. There's not much you can do about it but it does resolve in time. Just remember that it's a good thing because your body is doing what it should right now. Make sure to get all your fluids in. That's important. -
OMG, this sounds so good!!

Hello All you August Losers! I am new to the boards and just got my surgery date - August 13th! I am so excited I could just pee myself. LOL! I'm having my surgery at Kaiser in Fremont, CA with Dr. Sanjoy Dutta, the head of the department. Because they require us to lose 10% before they will even schedule surgery I don't have to do the 2 week liquid diet before, just a 24 hour thing before surgery. I'm so ready for this surgery having worked for it for over a year to get to this point between all the appointments and the weight loss. I'm ready for the next phase of my life to begin!

9 days out and wondering why I don't feel any different?
bpbqueen replied to Melanieada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for this post! I was almost afraid to post about how easy it's been for me so far with the surgery and recover because I didn't want to be all humble-bragging. But, it's the truth for me. I've had very little pain,, very little to no nausea (in fact, none at all today) and I'm dropping 2 lbs a day since my surgery on August 13th. I'm not even tired. I walk 3,000 steps a day, I get in 60 - 70 gm of protein on the stage I liquids I'm on and I get at least 64 oz of liquids in a day. I can't believe how easy it's been. I keep waiting for it to go horribly wrong or something. -

Surgery was yesterday at 11 a.m. and went really well. I had my tubes tied as well since they were already in there. The hardest part was right after surgery when I was so incredibly nauseous from the anesthesia. Once that wore off (about 2 hours) I was fine. No gas pain, very little incision pain. I've been up walking, I've peed, and I was able to take my nighttime meds last night (huge pills, no issues). Today they will give me "breakfast" and as long as there are no issues with nausea then I can go home this afternoon!! One thing that is really annoying is the fact that all the IV fluid makes me have to pee all the damn time. At least I'm not dehydrated.

That sounds great! We can all support each other!! -
I have seriously been nesting here. I've scrubbed my house from top to bottom; cleaned out every room, including the garage; and, even done 3 dump runs. I'm just about to go through all the cabinets in the kitchen to rearrange and organize them, donating old items that we never use. I feel like I'm totally nesting here and I think I may be driving my husband insane. I cannot relax to save my life these days before surgery. I'm so anxious for this surgery and I still am having nightmares that they're going to tell me I can't have the surgery. Anyone else going through this?

Please share your lessons learned from counseling
bpbqueen replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Depending on your insurance, this could be as simple as sitting down and having a one of one with a therapist where they ask you some questions on what you've done or are doing to prepare for the changes that are coming up or it could be as involved as a series of questionnaires that you have to answer and be evaluated on. Do let it intimidate you. Just go into it and answer the questions honestly and be willing to work on areas that may need to be worked on.
