  4. I'm sure that any one of us posting on this web-site has horror stories on what growing up fat did to them. He should read through the postings and tool around the internet for "fat support" groups. Only those who have been obese can truely understand the pain and horror we've experienced - well, maybe other shunned groups of people like those with leprosy...
  5. I think the most we can do is share our own stories to convince him. I am 46 and have been overweight ALL of my life. If I would have had the chance to have had the band at age 16, I would venture to say that my life could have been quite different. To have grown up without the ridecule, self doubt, no self esteem, so large that people think you are the mom and not the kid, not being able to go to the beach growing up because the other girls were so much prettier and slimmer that you were affraid someone would try and burry you as a beached whale...so on and so on...I'm sure many of us share the same stories and feelings. To have had the chance at 16 to change all of that - YES IN A HEART BEAT!:faint:

    Sorry You Did it?

I was sore for a while but back to work 5 days after the surgery. Don't force it. I wouldn't drink more than 4 oz at a time - maybe every 2 hrs or so. Hang in there. It is the best thing I have ever done. Myra

    Sorry You Did it?

I had my banding 7/25/2006. Not one day has gone by where I ever felt regret...even when I had eaten something that got stuck and had to get rid of it again. I miss being able to drink soda with all the carbonation but wouldn't give up my lap band unless my left depended on giving it up. I consider it my new birth date. the weight is coming off slowly - I've taken off 120 lbs in a bit over a year but as long as it's going down it's going in the right direction. :clap2:
  8. I was banded almost 2 years ago. My doc puts in very little every time. I've goe for 6 fills and the 6th one was the charm. I was loosing about 4lbs every 6 or so weeks - pretty slow but after the 6th "fill" I've been averaging 1-2 lbs per week. Eating is getting pretty difficult but the weight is coming off pretty good. Hang in there - you will be able to tell the difference after the 3 days of liquid. Believe me - do the 3 days or you could be VERY sick. Hang in there....remember, the turtle still made it to the finish line even if it took him a long time.
