  1. I hope that you have a little more compassion for your husband than for the people who are still struggling after their surgeries. Being a 'food addict' and 'being with a food addict' even for 25 years are 2 very different experiences. We all know what to do, but if it were that easy, we wouldn't be looking to this or any other forum for advice, and understanding. I can only speak for myself when I say that surgery was my last resort to help me with my struggle to lose weight. Every day is a challenge for me. Perhaps it would be helpful for you to start a thread for family members living with someone going through weight loss surgery, where your comments would be more appropriate.
  2. I had the same problem you are describing. I ignored it until it got so bad that I couldn't take it any longer. The band was removed and the sleeve was done. 9 months later and I still have heartburn and acid reflux, and only have lost 12 lbs. For me, the sleeve was a mistake. My surgeon assures me that with the bypass the reflux and heartburn will go away, so as much as I don't want to have my insides rerouted, I am considering it. Good luck to you.
  3. You aren't alone. I had my band to sleeve revision July 2015, and 3 days later, I was hungry, and I haven't stopped being hungry since. I can easily eat at least twice as much as I did with the band. There feels like there is no restriction. I did ask my surgeon if he really did the sleeve after removing the band. I also feel like a failure. I've only lost 12 lbs. since the sleeve surgery. Since my heartburn and acid reflux weren't resolved by the sleeve surgery, my surgeon is suggesting the bypass. I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of having my insides rerouted, but have started to consider it. I wish you good luck, and hope that you find a doctor that can help you resolve the issues you are having.

Did anyone like the band better?

Thanks for responding. Best of luck to you. Let me know how you are doing.

Did anyone like the band better?

I loved my band, while it worked. I had it in June 2006, and until February of 2013 it was effective. I lost 85 lbs, and maintained it. I started to have heartburn and acid reflux in 2013. I also started to regain weight, a total of 55 lbs. back. When I couldn't take it any longer, my surgeon recommended the sleeve. I had the sleeve done in July 2014, and I absolutely hate it. It has been a struggle to lose weight. I have only lost 12 lbs., and the heartburn never went away, and now the acid reflux is getting really bad again. I am constantly hungry. The sleeve has been so stressful, and I feel like such a failure. My surgeon is now recommending the bypass, as that will permanently relive the reflux and heartburn. I don't know what to do, as I am very uncomfortable with the idea of rerouting my insides, no longer absorbing nutrients, and dumping syndrome. I know that you asked one question, and while answering it, I am thinking - has anyone had a similar experience to mine?
  6. I have also been struggling. I've lost 15 lbs. since my band to sleeve revision (Jul 2015). I had the band for 8 years and kept off 88 lbs. I have ben hungry since day 3 after surgery. I can easily eat twice as much as I used to with the band. I've been exercising, but probably not as much as I need to. My doctor told me that there wasn't any permanent damage from the band. I am seriously thinking about the bypass. I also need a tool to help me, and the past 8 months have been the most frustrating of my life. Best of luck to you.
  7. I had my surgery July 25th, and today I am starving. I have headaches, and am occasionally dizzy. The Clear liquids just aren't working for me. Has anyone else experienced this, and what did you do? I don't want to cause myself problems with healing, or slow down weight loss. Any adivce? Thanks.
  8. Thanks to all who responded. I did call the doctor's office and was told I could start the puree stage (I had only had clear liquids, no protein.) I am so grateful for protein shakes. So is my family. I feel like myself again.
