Hi Everyone,
I'm currently considering an elective single incision gastric sleeve. I've battled my weight my entire life, and just turned 40. I know I can lose the weight myself, as I've done it before--but I always gain it back, and I feel the constant yo-yo-ing is doing real damage to my body and my spirit.
I've been on diets since I was 8, and I think my body has a very low caloric threshold as a result. So, when I diet I lose--but it's nearly impossible to sustain the weight loss.
I have a low-ish BMI, just under 32 at present. I am 5'11 and weigh 228lbs. Historically, my high weight was 260lbs, and my low weight was 170lbs.
I hovered around 208lbs for a few years (watching what I ate), until I quit smoking a year and a half ago. I've lost and gain 20lbs twice this year as result.
At this point, I'm just ready to spend my energy on other things. I don't think the people who are spared these weightloss battles have any notion of the psychic drain this sort of constant war with oneself results in. I'm done. I'm just so absolutely done.
