    My story

Congratulations! Best thing I ever did for myself, wishing you the same success. First few days are the toughest. And first few weeks I was just tired a lot...but once you get healed up, you'll be so happy you did this. LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! Best wishes!
  3. So sorry you are dealing with that. Can you do it without his help, you bet you can! Keep us posted about your procedure.

    100 lbs down!

Thanks all! In response to a few. I did sort of hit my goal. When I started this journey, I said "If I could lose 100 lbs., I'll be happy. And of course I am thrilled. However, now that I'm here, I can really stand to loss some more. But it's all gravy from here. I no longer feel like I'm on a diet, this is just how I eat now. And I'm sure my body will let me know when enough is enough. So nothing will change for me. I'll leaving my goal on here as it was originally set, to remind me that I've exceed my own expectations. I'm so grateful for my sleeve and my supportive husband. I know there is no way I could have accomplished this without it and him. But I also know that I get the credit for the progress I've made. I make the right food choices everyday and I go to the gym six days a week. But I'm no gym rat! I just walk the track. It's what works for me. For those just starting out....I applaud your courage to take action, I know I was scared to death going into this surgery, but I couldn't be happier with my decision.
  5. OMG - People say the dumbest things! I have to remind myself that they are trying to be nice, but the stupid things that come out, are almost a riot. I recognize its the fat girl in my head sometimes....but I've heard some real doozies. Generally from people that aren't close enough to me to be so personal with me. (disclaimer, I'm pretty private and anyone that knows me, knows this). thank God I haven't told anyone I had surgery, I can only image! "You look so much better"......so I looked awful before "Don't you feel so much better?".....to be honest, I didn't feel that bad before "OMG how much have you lost?".....none of your damn business "You look great, I can't wait to see how far you go".....quit while you're ahead, what if this is it? Clearly that person thinks I have more to lose. I've had to practice just saying thank you to it all. I figure better for me to just be gracious regardless of how back handed the compliment feels. This is about me, not them anyway. So glad I've done this for myself! Looking forward to long healthy life!

    40f bougie anyone?

Mine is a 40. Losing just fine! 4 months out, down 48 since surgery, 90 since I started my journey. Losing a couple lbs. a week slow and steady! So I think things are going great.

    Any September 2014 sleevers?

Congrats to both of you on your progress. 4 months out, I'm doing well, down ~ 48 since surgery and 90 since I started on my journey. Loss has been slow but consistent, I'm walking 4 miles a day which has helped. I was amazed and so grateful for my sleeve through the holidays. Losing weight through Thanksgiving and Christmas, was a lifetime first and I didn't feel deprived. The few weird changes I've noticed.....I still have trouble eating slow, nothing gets stuck it just feels awful after. I was easily a 96oz of Water a day girl prior to surgery, I now have to work hard to get in 40oz a day (I miss chugging water). Also used to love eggs, eat them daily. But they just don't go down well yet....I'm still holding out hope. Continued success to all

How do you guys eat out...

I'm three months out......If you like Sushi, Sashimi is a great eating out solution and fabulous source of Protein. I get Tuna or Salmon Sashimi a couple times a week! I've also just got creative with my ordering. We were out with friends at one of our "old" favorite bars, and I ordered chicken Nachos with the chips on the side. I basically eat the nacho toppings without the chips. Good luck!
  9. Started my journey in March, lost about 40 lbs. pre-surgery, on my own. Surgery in September....and just made it to Onederland! Still a good ways to go, but nice to have accomplished this goal along the way. Hopeful and determined that I will never see a 2 up front again! Great way to start the day!

    ONEDERLAND!

Thanks all! Really appreciate the support! I made the decision to keep my procedure private, so other than my husband and one girlfriend, this is the only place I can vent and Celebrate.
  11. I changed my eating habits long before my VSG. I wanted to prove to myself that I could loss some weight by myself before I relied on the surgery for help getting the rest off and more importantly keeping it off. So over the course of 5 months, I lost 40 lbs. before my procedure. That was the good deed. So now week 4 & 5 post op, I stalled. Week 6, I lost 2 lbs., and week 7 back to a stall. How frustrating! Is anyone else having early stalls? I know after losing 64 lbs. it isn't crazy to stall, but this soon after surgery it's frustrating. I don't want to waste one minute of the "honeymoon period". Wish the scale would cooperate. I know it's not the only measurement of success, but we want what we want, right. Hope all others are doing well.
  12. WOW - Sorry you're having so much trouble. I hope it passes soon. Please let us know what your surgeon says and how things turn out for you. Keep the faith!
  13. Hi all. I'm three weeks post op and nothing tastes good. I'm in the soft foods stage, I'm not hungry which is great, but it really hard to get my Protein in when nothing tastes good. Does this go away? Is it just part of the healing process? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

    Post Op Headache

Hi all, I'm 5 days post op. All is going well, except I've got a constant headache. Since I'm on blood thinners post surgery I don't want to take any aspirin products if I can avoid it. Any advice or information on why the headache is present in the first place?
  17. I'm pre-surgery and having some second thoughts. One question I have is does Protein first mean pure protein? Let me explain. As soon as I decided to move forward with gaining approval for VSG, I started dieting on my own. I wanted to prove to myself that I could stick to a diet before I moved forward with surgery, trying to set myself up for success. Anyway, I focus on high protein foods just as I'll have to do after surgery and track my food and Water with myfitness pal. One of the meals I love is Shrimp Burgers (no bun). Anyway shrimp is a great protein source, but my shrimp burgers include bread crumbs. So after surgery is that ok? Or does the protein need to be ONLY protein? I'm trying to find foods I'll be able to eat post surgery, and just hope I'm not taking myself down the wrong road already. Any insight would be appreciated.
