I'd love to know if anyone else has experienced this. I got a fill 2 weeks ago & have eaten very, very little. I am chewing everything very slow, making good choices, drinking Water & doing it right!!! I thought FOR SURE that when I stepped on the scale I'd have lost some weight. I actually gained 1 lb!! I WAS MAD!! I called my brother-in-law who was a doctor & he told me that because I was eating so little, my body was probably going into starvation mode. When it does that, your body wants to hold on to all it's resources & won't let it go. He said I'd probably see a weight loss next week. Ugh.... Anyone else have this happen?!?!

I'm so sick of my self & my laziness!! For the first 8 months of being banded, I did EXCELLENT!! I lost 63 lbs. I worked out 5 times a week & felt so good. I had so much energy. In the past 2 months I have completely fallen on my face!!:faint:I haven't gained any weight, but I am feeling jiggly. I haven't been to the gym once!!! Not once in over 2 months. I no longer make healthy choices when I eat & I am just sick of myself!! I know I'm not a complete failure because I have lost 63 lbs after all! (And I DO feel good about that!) But what is my problem?! Why can't I just get with the program & get my butt back in gear & lose the last 25 lbs?!?!?

I have a strange thing happening & I'm not quite sure what it is: First of all you need to know that I have had ZERO problems since being banded 8 months ago. I rarely PB & haven't had any pain. Smooth sailing... 3 days ago, I tried to eat a hot dog at a party we were at. (No bun, just the hot dog.) I ate it very slowly & it went down pretty good. I've eaten them once or twice before without any problems. I definately felt full when I was done & then a sudden gross feeling was in my throat. (Can't explain it!) I immediately went to the restroom where the entire hot dog came back up. I took it easy on eating the rest of the day. The next morning I tried to drink a Soy Protein drink. After just 3 sips, it BURNED & it slowly went down. I waited 2 hrs. & tried to drink some Water. The water sat there for awhile & then slowly gurgled down. I still had a burning sensation in my throat. I am usually closed up in the AM & figured I was just EXTRA tight. At lunch I took 3-4 bites of some potato salad. I ate 4 bites of corn & I was extremely uncomfortable. I had to go sit down & the burning feeling came back. STRANGE!! At dinner I drank a cup of apple juice very slowly. It felt fine. I then ate some tomato Soup & the burning feeling came back. I woke up this morning & have the same problem!! Anything I drink just BURNS my throat. Eating seems impossible. I had a fill 3 months ago & have had no problems at all. I've been able to eat normally until now. I've had heartburn before & this doesn't feel like it. I don't know what Reflux feels like, but I am not feeling anything coming up which is what Reflux is supposed to be. My doctor is in Mexico. I figured I'd ask all you wise people first before goin' cross the border. Do you think this just something that will go away if I stay on Clear liquids for a few days?

Do you have a reward for yourself when you hit goal?
Dianechef posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only have 25 lbs. to go before I hit my goal!! YEAH!!!!! :biggrin1: I really want to have a reward to look forward to when I get there. Of course my ultimate reward will be my hot new body!!!!! But......I need a little kick in the butt to get me back on track right now. I've stayed the same weight for 2 months. :guess For those who hit goal, did you have a reward? If so, what? For those still pluggin' along, have you set a goal once you get there? If so, what is it? For those who haven't set a goal, let's brainstorm!!! I was seriously considering getting myself a Full Day at the Spa when I hit goal. I went to a Spa place yesterday to get some information & was floored at the $500/day deal. Is this a normal price? I just may have to mark that off my list or get a part-time job! HA! Now I'm re-thinking my reward. I need a carrot dangled in front of me & I don't know what that carrot should be!! The only thing I won't put on the list is new clothes because I'm going to buy those anyway!!! Any and ALL ideas are appreciated. -
It's funny you started this thread!! I just bid on 2 DVD's that were "Walking Away the Pounds." I had never heard of them & was hoping they were good ones. If anyone else has these videos let me know!! Not sure if I should outbid someone if I don't win. I want to start working out at home too!!

Am I Going 2 Have Scars All Over My Stomach
Dianechef replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Speck! There really are very little scars. What you've read about the fills here is correct. The fills are not incisions, just a needle. I've attached a picture of what my stomach looks like 16 months after surgery. I virtually have no scars. I have had 6 fills. You can't even see the original scars from the surgery. You have to search for them. -
Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Dianechef replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Quote by Sunta: "I still think people that have extreme amounts of children are idiots, and that they are uneducated regarding the environment." Sunta, I am not going to judge you, but I do want you to understand that what you're saying is extremely hurtful. I think it is wise to get to know a person before you make blanket statements about them. It sounds as if you may know a few people who actually have several children & didn't seem to like the choices they have made. You are therefore judging all people who have lots of children because of the handful you know. PLEASE, PLEASE think before you say things. I try to think postively about others & since I don't know you, I am just going to assume that your statements were made without intentions to be hurtful. This post is simply to let you know that you indeed are hurting others. If hurting others truly is your intent, then I feel very sorry for you. :phanvan -
Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Dianechef replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
I am from a family of 10 children. I am the 6th child. My parents were NEVER on welfare. They paid for everything themselves. All of us kids have grown up to be good, hard-working adults & contribute to the society in a big way. We are all educated & successful. We aren't crazy christian people. My mother loved children & was very very good at raising us. There was lots of love in our home. The posts I have read on here make me cry! You don't know my mother, but you are calling her an idiot because she chose to have 10 children. If everyone had a mother like I did, this world would be a much better place. -

about fat free cool whip
Dianechef replied to melipooh9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's artificial EVERYTHING!! Even though it says zero on calories & carbs, I stay away from it because it's just fake food. I'd rather have a dollop of real cream. :girl_hug: -
Hi Carlene! I used to get bruises on my thigh too. I found it was was from table that stuck out & I kept hitting my leg on it everytime I walked by. It never hurt & I didn't realize it was making a bruise until one day when I walked by & went - "Hey, this table is it!!!!!" I moved the table & never got any more bruises. Okay, so this may NOT be your problem!! But, I thought I'd put it out there anyway. Do you have a table that sticks out?!?!

Let the Joyous news be spread: New Jersey votes yes on Gay civil union!
Dianechef replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
Hi Vinesqueen, I completely understand that marriage isn't just for making babies. My point was that one of the many purposes of marriage was to have children. Whether we choose to or not is our choice. However, when you are married to a person of the same sex, making a child is virtually impossible. There is a reason that it takes one man & one woman to make a child. I don't care what's written in the bible. We all know this is fact. -

Dianechef replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
I'm not going to quote the bible or bash anyones beliefs on this. I am only stating a fact. Two women cannot physically make a child together. Our creator made our bodies in a way that you needed one man AND one woman to create a child. In that respect, we call this union a marriage. If two women want to be together, that is their choice. However, they need a sperm from a man to create a child. Be together, but do not call it a marriage. As much as I like my gay friends, I am concerned for their children. What do they say to their children about how babies are made? How do they explain that a man was needed to for them to be born? -

Carlene, I love to read your posts because you are very, very good at your information. You are right on with the history of christianity. There are so many people who to claim to know things but don't always get the facts straight. You always have lots of info to back up your statements & you're right on!! -

My beliefs are simply my beliefs & I do not need to push anyone else to believe what I believe. They will come to find out their own beliefs through their own experiences. If someone asks me, I will freely share with them. Everyone has the right to live their lives the way they wish. God is the only judge. My job is to love & accept everyone for who they are. I will always exercise my right to vote. However, my vote is kept private. Just because I may believe one way or another doesn't mean I would ever treat someone any different because of the way they live their lives. -
I think both sides are absolutely right!! Parents are THE biggest influences on their children. We teach by example. However, despite our best efforts, our children will choose thier own behavior. If we do the best we can as a parent, our chances of having good, successful children are better. I know my kids will make thier own choices in life. I don't plan on just letting them out into the world to do that on their own. I would hope they would see what a good person is by the example of their parents. Then, once they have learned that, they will go out into the world & make their own choices. My concience feels better knowing that I did the very best I could. Then, I just hope & pray that something sunk in along the way.

They are use to this when dealing with women!! Don't worry. They only thing you need to worry about is not to wear a tampon. They will give you special underwear to wear & a big ol' grandma pad. You'll be fine.
