RNY - how are you feeling?
LifSvr2014 replied to Angel❤️'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ Angel, I had the laparoscopic RNY Bypass on 7/30/14, released and home on 7/31/14. Struggled the first couple of days with pain on one side where the largest incisions were but my Dr explained that is the area where the stapler was passed through. He encouraged walking and said that would promote healing. I am now on day 6 Post Op and doing much better. Still sore, I tire easily, but have noticed improvement. I graduate from clear liquids to 'pudding and cream soups' today, Yah! I never would have imagined I would be excited over those two food items, but after 3 weeks of all liquids they sound like T-Bone steaks I gained 16 lbs in the hospital from fluids and swelling, was a bit disappointed that I was higher coming out than my check in weight, but as of today I am back down 28.6 lbs. I know I will get there, and so will you, it just takes time!! Good Luck to you. -

I am curious why the liquid and pre-op diets lengths are so different for everyone. I have seen some on here that only have to do liquids for 2-3 days prior, for me it has been 15 days. I am guessing it has something to either do with weight, BMI, or maybe just surgeon specific but I thank the Lord I only have one more day before my surgery because this has been the roughest two weeks for me. On the plus side I have lost 23 lbs which means less to loose Post Op.... but would not wish this liquid regimen on anyone.

Hi Jenn, I had my first RNY appointment 0n March 10, 2014... My Surgery date is tomorrow 7/30/14. I am (self pay) so I did not have to jump through a lot of the insurance hoops, red tape or special dietary that most patients do, however I still had to complete all testing and be healthy enough to have the procedure done. My clinics requirements were (2) support group meetings, (2) NUT visits, (2) Pysch visits, Cardiologist visit, Pulmonologist visit, Xray, sleep Study, PFT Test, EGD, and Stress Test and so many labs that I lost count. Everyone and their health conditions are different though, I am blessed to have no serious illness other than obesity, I can only imagine the test if your not 'semi-healthy' going into this kind of procedure.... Hang in there, spend as much time as you can researching and learning from the Post Op patients on this and many other WLS boards, it is truly helpful along the way and the time will pass by before you know it. Best of luck to you!

Pre-Op Diet... Why the length variances?
LifSvr2014 replied to LifSvr2014's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It has definitely been a challenge, (2) 8 oz sugar free Carnation drinks, 1 Sugar Free Popsicle, 1 Sugar Free Jello cup a day. Tomorrow , day before surgery I actually get to switch to 'broth or bouillon cubes' ( 3) cups, + popsicles then NPO after midnight. Woohoo !! Who would have ever thought I would be excited to get a bouillon cube LOL -
Pre-Op Diets........ Why the variance?

Thanks Jacileggs, I kind of assumed that was the reasoning behind but wasn't certain, only one more day to go though so I got this!
