The Key to Weight Loss Success - Part One
Stevehud replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
its a part of it surely, but i know many obese people who think they look wonderful and dont see themselves as fat. So it needs some serious help. -
as a guy i cant help you too much but spanx does make some seriously good stuf, but it is far from cheap. i also switched to athletic exercise wear boxers, aka compression shorts as a regular thing. not that a woman would want to wear boxer briefs lol.

I am posting a mugcake recipe video i just made. it will be up momentarily ill post a link here as well. as far as nutrition, well for one scoop of matrix it is 6 grams of carbs 3 grams of sugar , 140 calories the creamer i use has 2 grams of carbs and 15 calories. baking powder has no nutritional values, or carbs or sugars. -
just so you know a nissen fundoplication is not a gastric sleeve. the sleeve has not been used for 100 years.

Stevehud replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
no the whey protein isolate and cassein etc is not live and microwaving it does nothing to the protein , it just activates the steam in the liquid you use and the baking powder which provides the rise and texture along with the egg albumen. -

so i have contact my contact, lol at syntrax, si03 to be exact, to confirm that the cookies and creme flavor is being phased out. I will post the answer for all to see when i have it. if its true im picking up a few 5lb bags immediately. I will buy the Peanut Butter very soon as well, if its as good as the mint cookie and the cookies and creme and the chocolate then i cant wait for it. im still leary about the banana though although if it works it would be like banana bread pudding kind of thing, which would rock. Im going to make a making the mugcake video tomorrow morning and I will post it right after. -

you really have to try the matrix, i think it works much better because of the fact is is a timed release Protein and has some egg albumen in the powder i think that egg is what adds the flavor. i highly recommend the Cookies and creme. what i would do if you have a Vitamin shoppe near you they have it regularly for like 22 to 24 bucks for a two pound tub, get it, and if you dont like it bring it back, the Vitamin Shoppe always takes the stuff back and lets you exchange it for something youll use. i did that when i tried the Syntrax Nectar double stuffed cookie instead of matrix cookies and creme and it turned to a brick... i contacted syntrax and they said it was due to the formula being so different. -

Two Non-Whey Protein Powders for Bariatrics
Stevehud replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
too many carbs for me, i prefer as close to sugar free as possible and since i have no sensitivities nor celiac issues thankfully, im j just fine on the isolates. but we do have to remember to read labels, so many Protein supplements are not for weight loss, and have a ton of sugar and carbs in them. Especially ready made ones. -

i literally just got my 5lb bag of mint cookie matrix powder and besides 5lb being a lot, lol i made a mug cake for dinner because i got home late etc so it is an easy healthy way to have something to eat, but not eat something heavy, kinda later at night than i usually like to eat, and voila it was very very good. you have to like thin mint cookie flavor though, because it tastes exactly like that. Im gonna make a make a mug cake video and post it here this weekend. im also hoping to pick up some Peanut Butter cookie matrix soon to try that. im not sure about the banana though, it will either be great...or terrible lol. Now i have tried using this same recipe, although you have to keep the "batter" thicker, with non stick cooking spray on a non stick pan, you can make a pancake shaped protein pancake, im eager to try it again and i will now that i have a 5 lb bag to experiment with. so we shall see on that as well. I have heard of a few people adding rice flour or coconut flour to this mixture and then making waffles etc. but i really dont want to ruin the healthy part f this by adding so many carbs. I will also try the mixing of chocolate matrix and the mint cookie, and of course Cookies and cream and mint cookie, to tone down the mint a little. we shall see if any of these make a new favorite for me, or just fit into a nice rotation of easy breakfasts for me. -
Excess Skin: And the Emotional, Thick Skinned Woman
Stevehud replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
i think this may be tougher on women because of societies views on beauty etc. As a man who has reached goal, and i have a LOT of excess skin, in my belly and , well ill say it, my pubic area. But i honestly cannot fathom how i would ever be able to have plastics. just not financially viable, Mexico or not. I have an active capter 13 bankruptcy so now way to get a loan or finance it, id literally need to change my entire life again, to save up for the two years left on my bankruptcy to get plastics, it sucks, but as my wife says, " i like having you alive and well with loose skin, than fat and dead or in pain all the time. SO ill take it. ive never been a beach person and i can deal with it. The man boob thing is a lot better now, but weirder as i have fried eggs instead of a solid c cup. I actually contacted several tv shows to see if they wanted to sponsor my surgery in exchange for video rights and story rights lol. no one took me up on that. -
"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...
Stevehud replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
unfortunately even celebs fail at surgery, look at riki lake and carney wilson. multiple surgeries, multiple failures. But i do agree counting points is all fine and good, but until someone fixes oprahs head, her body wont follow. And by that i mean her reliance on food as a way of placating her insecurities, ( she has talked about it enough) My wife likes to yell at her commercials. lol. i just shake my head. I try not to be judgemental, but in the comfort of my home i shall judge the TV! lol -

not memory, i literally have had at least 1 a day for 5 months now. many days i have one for Breakfast and one for lunch. Now that I am in maintenance mode, my nuit wants it cut down , so i have one for breakfast about 4 to 5 days a week and no more for lunch , although if you are hungry and need a snack at night, this works great for it, you get that overnight Protein thing going, and a teaspoon of sugar free chocolate syrup on top makes for a really nice desert but i dont do that often. -

Stevehud replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
yeah ive posted this as well. I literally have at least one a day. I prefer the Matrix Cookies and cream, or half and half with chocolate. I have a 5lp bag of the mint cookie due to arrive today ao i wil try that out. I havent tried the Peanut Butter yet but i am dying to. basically the recipe is the following. 1. ! scoop ( or more if youre in maintenance etc ( i use two now). Matrix cookies and cream Protein powder. 2. 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder ( or double if doubling the protein etc. 3. Non-dairy creamer or almond milk if you like. I havent tried with real milk. but i hear it works. Mix protein powder baking soda and creamer in a microwavable mug. ( i prefer one with straight sides, it make mixing easier.) Stir well and use enough creamer ( I use the sugar free coffee mate Italian sweet creme, it really makes a difference) add enough until all the powder is worked in to the consistency of a thick concrete or mud. then place in microwave on high ( smaller microwaves need a little more time like 10 to 15 seconds) for 45 seconds or so. I top my morning one with a teaspoon of sugar free maple syrup, but i have thought of using sugar free preserves or the like as well. could be good. ***be very careful, it can be hot*** This weekend i will make a video of this for people. It is not exactly a cake per se, its very cake like, but closer to a dense bread pudding, like the center of a stack of pancakes ( my favorite part by the way) ENjoy! -
New Study Says People with WLS are generally....
Stevehud replied to Stevehud's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i know for me and many others, food was the drug of choice, I get depressed, I eat, then feel bad, etc and the depression gets worse. I have replaced food with thrift shopping..lol no seriously replacing those feelings in a more creative outlet, through exercise, and through other hobbies ( learning to play guitar) and thrift shopping has helped immensely. So i think the substituting of exercise and things we couldnt do before our life change, is a necessary thing to keeping the weight off and helping us feel better about who we are and our "new" life. -
be careful with that moderation thing because its totally not true. eating everything in moderation will leave you moderately fat. Unhealthy food is unhealthy whether you have a moderate amount of it or not. This is about changing your life, your food intake is not a diet you can just switch off when you hit goal. People fail at these surgeries all the time, if you cant create a totally new way of looking at food, you will fail. Look at all the successes here, these people, they never stop eating healthy, sure there are cheats here and there and on maintenance you can eat a bit differently. But you still have to change what you eat , forever. Unless you want to gain it all back. Be careful with the moderation thing, it gives you a way to cheat and a way out of being healthy and that is the path to failure. This is not a diet, this is Forever.

The Best and the Worst: Your Weight Loss Surgery MEDICAL SERVICE Experience
Stevehud replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
hmm best was my surgeon and hs staff, they never once made me feel fat they always spoke in positives and let me approach this with eyes wide open. Dr Anthony Mccluney in boston mass is a dream to have for a surgeon. Literally his staff is top notch, they fought to get me insured, knowing literally the company i worked for got bought out suddenly and our med ins was going to change jan 1 ( this was announced dec 2nd) and if we got to jan 1 my new ins had excluded WLS specifically, so we had 28 days to to get the whole process complete from approval to actual surgery. And then we got denied due to paperwork snafu by the ins company, my doc did his one on one with the ins company and literally i was in having my last test on thursday the 11th of dec and then friday the very next day they called me and said hey, your scheduled for the OR on tuesday. have a good weekend. lol we got the surgery done on dec 16th 14 days turnaround for all my tests all the paperwork etc. they literally called me almost daily to keep me informed. The staff at the hospital was great they had a special floor that was only for WLS patients and nurses who were specifically trained to help us. My nurse had only two patients per nurse, and i had my own recent nursing grad to me one on one. ( and she was a hit youngin lol) after the surgery i woke up in a lot of pain and they immediately gave me a nerve block, which really helped. Also even one of the pre surg nurses gave me a secret, ask for IV tylenol. its not a normally given thing, but it works wonders for pain. Literally that stuff did as much for pain as the toradol. and i never had to bother with the morphine and they removed the morphine pump thing 4 hours post surgery. Only thing i would change in that hospital is the dunkin donuts int he lobby you have to walk by after surgery....lol
