A Disease called OBESITY - A *MUST WATCH* Video by Reeger Cortell
Stevehud replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i cant get to the disease part though, Its just me I know. and im not trying to start a fight or make light of it, but i was fat due to my own issues. Is discrimination against the obese real? yes, being obese is a gateway to death? YEP. agree with all those underlying things, but i cannot stretch my head into the disease explanation. If you wanted to say its a mental illness, i might lean in that favor as ive never met a obese person ( including myself) that didnt have issues that enabled or directly influenced their food disorder. Maybe that's a better word for me, Obesity is a food disorder like anorexia or bulimia. That i can get behind. I just cant do the disease thing. Im honestly sorry if that upsets anyone. No offense intended. -

Can your sleeve be stretched?
Stevehud replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach doesnt stretch without the fundus. It cant its impossible, again as others have said if done incorrectly, well if anythng is done incorrectly during surgery you could die, so take that with a grain of salt. Simply put your new sleeve will over time enlarge to fit more food as you heal and the body adjusts to the new you. Wil it ever be "normal" Nope cant possibly happen, no in a year not in 10 years. Eating too much will not make a correctly sleeved..erm,, sleeve stretch. Can you fail? ABSOLUTELY. hell thats easy to do. Will you be able to eat enough to gain back all the weight you lost? YEP Most DEFINITELY. Which is where you come in. You have to walk the walk. like SMokey says, ONLY YOU. can prevent the weight from coming back. And the rest of us will try to help. -
10 months post op and out of track. I need your help!
Stevehud replied to julybn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What kind of surgery did you have? You may want to do a little reset so to speak and try a few days of just Protein shakes to get that starting feeling back. -

How do you stop small treats from turning into daily bad habits?
Stevehud replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
good question. Ill give you first some things that started bad for me. 1. Peanut butter- My nut recommended i use Peanut Butter, the good all natural you stir it up, made from peanuts and salt only ( or unsalted) , but i love peanut butter so much I found myself starting to want to put things with the peanut butter. like Cereal..did you know that a spoonful of peanut butter covered in chex cereal is delicious? Now the chex is my wifes but I ate half a box over the course of 4 to 5 days.. not good. lol 2. Chickpea chips with salsa. So i would make or buy nice fresh handmade salsa, tomatoes, jalapenos a little lime juice, onion, garlic etc. and i found these great chickpea chips. they are low carb high Protein and taste outstanding. So i would snack on them evey now and then..which became more and more often, so I would see myself looking forward to getting home from work so i could have some more.. Od habits, yet again. 3. Found these awesome edamame chips with rice flour at trader joes- not bad at all for numbers, and you get a whole ton of them in the serving size so i figured well ill only eat half and make em even better, id eat them with hummus, yum- then i started eating them too often yet again. So what do I do? Well the first step is truly reaching the realization that this is a bad thing and needs to stop. The second thing is stop buying these foods. SO i did, if they arent accessible, i cant have them, simple. Now that works for me, and may not work for those with extended families etc. My wife has lost 35+ pounds just by eating more like me etc. SO it gets easier to avoid. The point im making is take whetever steps are neccessary to keep the bad things out of your reach. I love these brbq flavored pork rinds, now they are all in all not bad, high protein no carbs no sugar etc, not a lot of caloires, but i make sure to buy them 1 bag at a time so that way if i do eat thw whole bag im only out 300 calories and i got a ton of protein, and no carbs so oh well. i can deal with it, but then if i want more id have to go out and get it, and that makes it easier to resist. Do whatever you need to do, to get temptation away from you , it does get a lot easier if you dont stop things all together and just limit the ability to overeat etc. -
very subjective taste for the Quest chips, we tried them at a Vitamin shoppe and even the staff was ready to throw up on them, we tried all the varieties, i distinctly remember the cheddar tasted like cardboard impregnated with smelly dirt that was orange..lol
-
honestly ive only found one crunchy thing that works for me , and im at goal, so please dont give in until you absolutely positively have to, if at all! but i absolutely love, pork rinds, i wouldve never touched them before but now ( many flavors) im not saying you should have them, but there are things out there.

ive been intrigued by the Quest because of the flavors, but i havent bothered to try it. I also had very poor results with the nectars, but the matrix, was perfect. Remember you can buy the matrix at the Vitamin shoppe for a lot cheaper than some Protein powders, although i got the deal of a lifetime, amazon accidentally put a listing for 6 5 pound bags of the matrix mint cookie, for 50 bucks, so i ordered it. but i only got 1 5lb bag so when i complained they gave me that 5 pounds for 7 bucks. lol Yay! so now i have a 5 lbs of mint cookie in a air tight container and i use it. and i do find of i gain a little a few days of substituting a meal or a snack with the mug-cake really puts me back on track. Ive been using the mug-cake recipe doubled up for Breakfast for about 3 months now and it really helps me. -

okay so let me dispell a few things. There are MANY weight gain, bulk up phase, Protein powders on the market, just as there are many weight loss protein powders on the market. There is a huge difference , however. Yes many Weight gain , bulk up products contain slow release protein, BUT they also come close to and including up to 2000 calories or more. The Syntrax matrix are not the same by any means. It is why I have always told people high protein does not mean low cal. many, many protein supplements are for weight gain, not weight conscious people. Syntrax Matrix products contain both slow release and fast release Proteins. And they are weight loss friendly. Do not confuse these products with bulk enhancing protein powders -
Torani Sugar Free Syrup comment & question
Stevehud replied to TodayItEnds's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
its important to find a shake you like and can repeat. i lived off of the syntrax fuzzy navel in the summer and warm weather along with the syntrax cappuccino, blended with ice and some skim milk for that iced coffee in the morning thing. sometimes half cappuccino half chocolate. at 8 months i switched to the syntrax matrix cookies and cream for the mug-cakes because its sort of like a pancake thing in the morning ( i was a big donut guy and this gives me that fix) so its very important to find what works for you! -

What, specifically, caused you to become obese?

im gonna be blunt, what made us all gain weight and get fat..was food the reason we ate, those vary but in the end it all comes down to food. we ate a lot, we ate often, we ate badly, we ate food. Now i know a troubled childhood where my father hoarded food ( he was legally blind and was home at all times, and hated people and the only time he wasnt yelling at or hitting people was when we were eating. as a result ( yes therapy breakthrough) ive come to realize i equated happiness with food. When things went bad, i went out and ate more, bad day at work, eat some snack cakes, rough day get an extra donut. etc etc. its what I did. its what i ate. its who I was. But its not, who we have to be. NOT , who i will be ever again. Whew, little emotional there for a sec. -
Confessional: Old habits are creeping back in
Stevehud replied to rnsamantha's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
catching the slips are fine, but you HAVE to change them. When the honeymoon ends, your ability to bounce back becomes an ever increasing struggle. Please lose the soda.. Get off the path to failure, , you got here, now stay here. You can do it! -
i think its hilarious to read these though, although not as uncontrollably funny as the dreaded sugar free gummy bears reviews, these are funny just the same., at this stage for me, ( maint) when i want Peanut Butter i have natural stir it up peanut butter with only peanuts and salt listed on the ingredients list.
-
this one is killing me EWWW EWWWW. This is just awful. I think the recipe is a combination of shaving cream and two peanuts blended in a food processor. and food coloring. Did I say ew?
-
i am dying laughing reading the reviews.. i especially love.... DON'T DO IT!! Nothing is worth eating this..nothing! I am a fan of many of Walden Farms products (the chocolate dip and the Honey Dijon dressing are definately worth trying and I would have no hesitation recommending them), however, this one is something that could be used as cruel and abusive punishment. Seriously, this stuff could be used for torture. Like another reviewer on here, I am used to eating things without sugar but this is just horrendous. Unless you are a total masochist, this is something to keep off your grocery list. The only reason it gets one star on here is because there is no minus a million- which it rightfully deserves. You have been warned....

wow amazing to see im in such a minority, i do think the pictures angle has a lot to do with it as the black and white is you in a sexier pose, but ( and here is a tip ladies) the more you have on the shoulder, makes you look more feminine ( unless you do poofy shoulders al la 80's i am always amazed when i see friends daughters prom pics etc, and bigger girls wearing sleeveless gowns, it makes them look like linebackers etc. it how you accentuate larger figures, and unless you are rhonda rousey id stay away from that. also be careful of high waists they give women a belly unnecessarily. Yes i love fashion and no im not in the closet, my closet is full of thrift shop finds! ( isnt it amazing i have found versace jeans and armni shirts at goodwill! ) but thats ahem just a hobby.. lol edit: i never got to wear high quality name brands as they dont make them that big without being outrageously expensive if at all. Now i have an outfit ( from thrift shops) of versace jeans, an armani shirt, with a robert graham cashmere sweater over it, that just .. makes me feel amazing. My coworkers say im a clothes bitch now. lol

im in the minority as a male, but the solid black one is much classier, the style on the black and white one is very...90's basic black is always in fashion.
