not able to eat lunch with co-workers
Stevehud replied to bevewhite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know why i will explain myself to you. BUT what I meant was, is there a reason, such as personnel reasons, or perhaps they took time off under a different guise, and dont want thier boss to know. perhaps these people are not trustworthy or constantly gossip? am not inferring that people have a RIGHT to know. But if something bothers you , and you do nothing to stop that, you become as much at fault as those who bother you. See im honest about you bothering me. I dont hide it. -

What was your "Yep. I'm getting WLS." moment?
Stevehud replied to GranadoM74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mine was similar to yours, i started out by saying id never be the fat person at 300 pounds, then once i crossed that barrier it was well, ill never be stupid enough to get to 400 pounds. then on day while at the doctors i weighed in at 408 pounds. And after 13 pneumonia hospitalizations on 3 years, it was that moment that set my resolve, i went hope jumped on the internet watched a video and sent an email for an appointment. the rest is history as they say. -

Any music instrumentalists out there?
Stevehud replied to Highnoteguy82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
professional musicians? lol heck no. ive been playing guitar for just over a year. i was a sound tech on the side for several bands and vocalists, and i was a budding amateur opera singer and a mobile dj as well. No more opera, after losing over 200 pounds, my wind is nothing like it was and my voice even changed . I have used the guitar to help me as well, when I have the urge to just eat due to boredom etc. i go into my music room and practice or jam, etc. Id love to hear anything you may have done yourself by the way. anytime . music is such an amazing thing. Congrats on your sleeve. You can do this. let anyone here know when you have a question or just need to chat etc. -

Low BMIers - what do your macros look like?
Stevehud replied to mrs w's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
a mugcake is a Protein shake variant that eats instead of being drank. Most of use use Syntrax matrix brand Protein powder ( you can use any protein powder that has egg albumen in the ingredients)with anywhere from a 1/8th to 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and for me i use sugar free coffee creamer ( italian sweet creme works best for me but you can use almond milk or whatever you wish) and you mix until thick then microwave for 45 seconds to a minute and it makes a cake like consistency kinda like a thicker bread pudding kind of. or molten lava cake type thing. ill get you the video i made of it and is in the video section here. ill post it in a sec edit* http://www.bariatricpal.com/videos/view-154-mugcake-recipe-video/ -
we used to call them happy pills. wellbutrin has that side effect on me of giving me a stupid smile half the time. but i feel for you. If you ever need to talk to a stranger, and heck im sure strange err. lol just give a shout.

Gaining Weight after one year post sleeve! PLEASE HELP!
Stevehud replied to addygirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
you may want to search about stomach stretching. it CANT happen. its not physically possible. the elastic part of the stomach is removed during surgery. being able to eat more is just the little bit of relaxing your stomach goes through in healing and accommodating your eating changes, it can never stretch back to normal. its a physical impossibility. Rather than focus on how much your eating look at WHAt your eating. and when. how much do you work out. if you want to do a reset go back and do a liquid only diet for 3 days and start over. You can do this. if you are always hungry, you may need to talk to someone because that sure sounds like head hunger. and this whole program without solving why you ate the way you did, is not a good thing. -

ive never agreed with the eat more to lose more, advice neither is my nut, he trains marathon and ultra marathon and triathletes, if you are o be in a losing phase its important to stay hydrated and keep your Protein and Vitamins up. but never recommends taking in extra calories simply because you work harder. Try varying your workout times, if its possible, i know many of us cant. also be sure you arent eating later at night, and eating maybe some straight protein like a shake or mugcake at night as the overnight protein keeps the fires burning whie you sleep etc. youll get through it. -
So I want to hear stories...
Stevehud replied to lalajade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
umm lets see i wore Husky, clothes when i was a kid, thats the euphemism for fat kid. i was never thin, always fat. missed out on a lot of life by being the fat kid. Now many years later at 45 i hit my goal 1 year and 3 days after surgery i went from a high weight of 408 to my current of 168. i dont know that i can event ex[lain what its like. to do things like shop in any store i want. to sit in any seat and not worry about fitting. To walk anywhere and not get tired or sweat my ass off while sitting still. I can and do, a lot. not just work out, but move and not fall over dead, i averaged 4 to 5 pneumonias per year the last 5 years with 14 hospitalisations. but since my surgery not one. my sleep apnea is gone, literally i was on a ton of meds for what they thought was narcolepsy and i wasnt allowed to drive at night. or long distances. now i have no problems at all. the differences are vast and not just in what you can do. but what you will feel. im still learning, its like being transported into a new body and trying to figure it out. I only wish i had done it many years sooner. -
Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?
Stevehud replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
for me Im a thrift store junkie, I almost live to thrift now. lol Considering all the size changes ive had it was necessary. but i also love the outlets stores too. Lucky is my favorite, brand and store. Lucky jeans I have 5 pair now, 4 thrifted, i also have thrfted armani, versace, vineyard vines, etc. my whole wardrobe is now upper end name stuff, except my levis, i stil love a great pair of button fly levis. Never used to like button fly, being so fat made it impractical. But it is fun to go to like, the under armour store or nike and know they have my size. going from a 5x shirt to a medium, and 56 pants to a med-small or 32 waist is , well im sure you will know the feeling. Keep it up! Oh and i got a good sized gift card for nordstrom last christmas, that was fun shopping. i bought moisturizer lol and other stuff, a pair of noth face gloves to match my North face jacket i bought on an online site for 60 bucks with the tags still on it, and some polo socks. Thats a new one is full length socks. I could never wear them before because of huge circulation issues, no i love socks! i have a bunch of wacky pairs, striped in many colors, purple and green, red an yellow, i have thor, the hulk, captain america, dr strange lol yeah im sort of living the youth i ididnt have being fat. Its so much fun, its like playing barbie dress up. except im a guy and dont have dolls, etc. -

Ahh the mugcake. my go to item. that has really helped me exist and lose and maintain to be honest. heres alink tot he videos section where i demonstrate it. many people here use these . basically its a Protein powder ( needs to have egg albumen in the ingrediats list or you w could add some egg white. , and baking powder , then a liquid. and a microwave and voila. its not exactly a cake but its cake like, and its more like a cross between a cake and say bread pudding. http://www.bariatricpal.com/videos/view-154-mugcake-recipe-video/

Husband's breaking furniture due to weight, but still refuses surgery?
Stevehud replied to Comfy_Blue's topic in The Lounge
being a man in the same sort of size etc as your husband i can say this, it took me 40 years to wake up and realize something had to change and i could not do it on my own. I would lose 30 pounds then Celebrate by going right back out and eating like i used to. then it would creep right back in. So many health problems including the sever obstructive sleep apnea and a lot worse, made me finally say it was time. It can be done, it is do able you can do this and have a life you can actually have a great amazingly fun life without eating to gain your fun. But unfortunately everyone is right , the more people tell you what to do the more you will resist and live in denial. If he ever says hed like to talk to a guy whos been there i can do so. or im sure others here would as well. Good luck. -

Freaking Out...... Maybe I just won't get sleeved
Stevehud replied to aprilnicole's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have to say i dont buy it. an infection less than a full day after surgery and one that causes you to be in ICU, sorry thats really hard to believe. it sounds like you may have been visited by a troll, or someone with some other mental issues. Now certainly someone being in an icu after surgery? yep happens, especially considering the unhealthy status we go in with. But to have an infection gestate that fast and with that virulent a result so quickly? Not very likely, in fact almost impossible for me to believe. And i was a paramedic for 11 years. ask any of the nurses here, and we have quite a few. Sepsis takes more time than that. -
it wasnt that long ago i walked by a full length mirror in a department store and not recognizing myself i jumped sideways to avoid walking into that strange person who suddenly was right there. lol

youre asking if its okay to deviate from your plan and make up your own rules about what you eat and when? I mean after all its JUST two days. I mean then it'll be three days early for your soft foods diet. and then maybe just one ordeo, then maybe just one cheat day. then you fail and its game over. Look, don't put yourself in a position to fail. trust me the weight loss Slows to a crawl soon enough and even stops. at that point you'll be wishing you could have taken advantage of the time you had in the honeymoon. This isnt easy but you CAN DO IT. SO give yourself all the tools at your disposal and see what the future brings.

damn awesome!! Keep it up!

post op ive found that caffeine will actually cause me heart palpitations, not a good thing, so my caffeine is limited to one cup of coffee per day, and other than that decaf only stuff. So there's no way i can use the 5 hour energy. Unless i have no other sources of caffeine.

Sugar, Not Fat, is the Culprit
Stevehud replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
added salt is even higher. why its like asking why does nitrogen occur in the air. Simply put, that's what we WANT. people WANT sugars in their food. plain and simple. If we didn't want it, they wouldn't make it because it wouldn't sell.
