Since you all would rather attack than read. ill say good luck to you, do whatever you want i hope you dont screw up someone else. and ill erase all my posts. I never assumed there were so many people who would rather make personal attacks than accept an opinion for what it is.

Hey Doctor Randoval. two words, rhymes with duck cough. Jerseyjules- please explain how thousands of people on here are told by their doctors and nutritionists to do cardio cardio cardio, yet you say thats wrong, you say weight lifting is better than cardio. But I am supposed to believe you? when did you get your Medical license? But then again, if i want to be a real man like you I have to lift weights. i forgot.

Food/Supplement Questions for Post Surgery
Stevehud replied to ErinEllen1's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
for me my first two weeks, which was only a week or so ago was basically a Protein shake for breakfast ( im partial to the Syntrax nectars products) which was about 4 oz for 23 to 36 grams of protein. ( i use 1 and 1/2 scoops per shake) then Water liquids, ( propel, water with flavor it in it etc) and Jello sugar-free or sugar-free pudding every other day as a snack usually at nighttime. lunch was another shake or some Greek yogurt, dinner was a shake or a few times some broth when i just needed something hot. i never liked the premier products all the ready made Protein shakes tasted like , well very bad, to me. and you had to drink 20 ounces to get 30 grams of protein. i get more than that in 4 to 5 ounces of syntrax Cappuccino for example in + skim or 1% milk. I never had any problems getting in my protein this way. and i recommend the time marked water bottle , that a person on here created. you basically mark a water bottle with the times of day and how much you should have drank at that time and keep it with you at all times. it REALLY helped, if you need the picture to show you how, send me a message with your email and ill get it to you. good luck and you can do this. it aint easy but its worth it. oh for Vitamins heres a great easy one, Centrum adult chewables ( only come in orange flavored) 7 bucks a bottle take 2 a day have 100% of everything including the Iron. If you want some taste tests i do a bunch of video taste tests of protein shakes and flavors on my blog, feel free to check them out. -
Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
Stevehud replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Heck yes Im 3 weeks post-op and i still struggle with them, even though i see the weight loss and I have never been able to do this before i still wonder if I could've done it on my own. The simple answer is no, i lost 30 pounds in my pre op diet, that took 2.5 months. ive lost 30+ pounds in 3 weeks after surgery, so that is the ultimate difference is time, i could've done the weight loss if i had the will power to do a really aggressive diet and exercise plan for about 2 to 3 years. But I believe I can do this with the surgery in a year or less. so to me it was a matter of 3 years of losing or 1 year of losing then maintaining. also seeing the scale go down so fast is a great motivator to keep going. Look to yourself for the answers you need. Ask every little question you can think of, read every post you can, the more informed you are , the better off you will be. -
Divorce after plastic surgery and/or bariatric surgery
Stevehud replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
its horrible for you to have to go through all this. The sacrifices that are made just to be healthy and not overweight are lost on people in general. No one thinks that an obese person is giving up anything in order to lose this weight. You are evidence of some of the harsher things that get sacrificed. I truly wish you well and wish you did not have to undergo this. You have your chin up and will to succeed , that I can see. You are a string person now and I wish you the best, in everything. -
Okay from a guys point of view who went through a lot let me give you some of my thoughts. I went through the exact same things. same comorbidities, etc but it took me 15 years to do something about it, now at 44 I had my surgery 2 and a half weeks ago. You probably cannot push him to get it nor do something about his weight. As a man we resist what we are told we MUST do. We are men and we think we know best.. I know what your all thinking but get over it, its how our minds work. Trust me, ive been there. you lose 5 or ten pounds and think your god and then you eat more to make up for the lost weight. Therapy wont help, if you want to do it you do it if deep inside you don't want to, then you wont it is that simple.

O dp wpnder how many people confuse their dietary stages. For me stage 3 after liquids only, was liquids and puress for 2 weeks, stage 4 for me is soft meats, ground meats, etc. mashed or soft veg, no fruits or anything raw. no white bread kind of stuff etc. so its easy to mistake stage 3 purees, for stage 4 purees so be careful.

Did anyone eat below 400 or 300 calories for a year post op after gastric sleeve?
Stevehud replied to Best's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
300 to 400 calories I don't think that's even possible if you actually eat food, there just aren't foods that low in calories. you could do it on a liquid diet for sure but a prolonged liquid diet will pretty much kill you. -
Mmm...delicious protein shakes.
Stevehud replied to RedSalamander's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do a lot of video taste tests on my blog if you're having a hard time finding a shake mix you can tolerate. I recommend the fruit flavors in the Syntrax nectars line. Flavors like fuzzy navel, pink grapefruit, ( not strawberry kiwi) Caribbean cooler, apple, twisted cherry all with Water ( I use smart water or you can use diet caffeine free iced tea) are excellent when you get tired of the chocolate vanilla etc. personally I blend 1 and a half scoops of the Cappuccino in the morning with 5 oz of 1% or skim milk for a coffee memory lol -

Has anyone tried the new quest Baking Mix
Stevehud posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
So my local Viatmin Shoppe, just came out with the new Quest line of whey isolate Protein shake mixes but they also have this new quest preotein baking mix, you can use it to bake muffins ( not that I would) breads ( again , a no no) cakes ( yeah cake lol )and pancakes. Now I know there are a lot of pancake protein recipes out there , has anyone tried this mix? If not I may have to be the guinea pig. Thankfully I just got my 10 dollar reward from Vitamin shoppe so that will help defray the cost of trying something that is potentially horrible. but who knows. If anyone has tried it, let me know what you think. Thank you! We can all do this! -
Quest Bars - they taste like cardboard
Stevehud replied to Zoco's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
for some reason the concensus is to microwave them for like 5 to 10 seconds no more! to me the consistency is that of a tootsie roll. -
Why different post op diet requirements?
Stevehud replied to Annie77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The differences are dramatic in some cases. For me while I was in hospital 18 days ago. I was given yogurt ad glucerna ( nasty stuff) also some tomato soup which I cannot stand and yogurt again the next day, then 2 weeks of liquids/purees ( stage 3) then just got cleared 4 days ago for stage 4 ( soft meats etc.) for one month then stage 5 which is pretty much whatever I can tolerate within nutritional guidelines. -
PreOp Diet and Coke Zero?
Stevehud replied to Jashby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ive never bought into the chemical thing, everything we eat or drink is made with chemicals even organic vegetables. I wont go into what organic means in the U.S. but its not what you think. if you need it go for it, yes after surgery you cant have it. BUT I have found a way around it, for when im off stage 4. You may notice on the market that there is a machine called a soda stream, to make your own soda. well you can get caffeine free coke and Pepsi and not use the carbonation function so you make basically flat diet caffeine free Pepsi or coke or ginger ale I believe too. SO this is a way to enjoy it. Like I said I don't belive in the bad splenda or whatever. If it wasn't for chemicals we wouldn't have Protein shake mix, chewable Vitamins or Calcium etc. Just my Opinion. Even my nutritionist thought it was a great idea for people who need that diet soda taste. As far as I am concerned if it helps someone lose their weight, Im pretty much all for it. Good luck, You can do this! and I love you all.! -
im surprised your eating food 4 days post op. but to each his/her own I guess. heres a trick put 4 to 5 ounces of milk in a blender then use 1/12 scoops of your favorite Protein mix that should give you close to 40 grams of protein in a small serving. if you need it colder add some ice cubes when you blend it, but heres a kinda owner for you, get used to drinking not cold or hot things , you have to drink over such a spread of time that things that are cold go warm and vice versa. As for straws, my surgeon and nut have me at 1 year and I was a straw freak, sigh lol.

I had my sleeve surgery on 12/12. I'm
Stevehud replied to applegal79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine on 12/16 and yup if I drink/eat too much or too fast the gurgles start its a good warning to me. That full and achey feeling is the feeling your eating too fast or too much or both. that's your warning. Continue on and you will most noticeably have everything from diarrhea to vomiting. Good luck. -
Worst "compliment" you have gotten since surgery
Stevehud replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
you're right , But I apologized to you for some perceived slight many many times, go back and look at the other topics, if you do not believe me. I even said you were helpful and inspirational several times, but you still say nothing but negative things towards me. You couldn't even let me last post go by without attacking me again. So here I will take the high road again and just delete my posts and you can win. Okay I hope that makes you happy, and that's not sarcasm. Your clique will be happy for their leader I am sure. Now please be a decent sort and take your win graciously. -
Shredded wheat cereal
Stevehud replied to skinnybitchgoals's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im two weeks and a day out and not on soft foods yet ( tomorrow supposedly) so I wont say bad or good because i'm bound to have a little something bad. the textbook answer is, Proteins first , then carbs, and that's all carbs. But I cannot in good conscience advise you because I crave any carb at all lol Good Luck. -

Just had my Duodenal Switch (DS) surgery on December 17
Stevehud replied to toastedink's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
here's a trick with the Syntrax nectars you can do a scoop and a half in 5 oz of milk and that gives you 39 grams of Protein (4 grams for the milk) for a low ounce liquid. and if you blend it it stays nice and smooth. Just a little trick. -
Why are there so many women in the guys room?
