I think you mean Pre op diet, post op is after surgery. And if you cheat like that after surgery you will regret it for sure. that being said no one is perfect if you fall off the bike get back on and keep riding. remember you have to make the changes yourself the surgery is just a tool if you want to have it fail, then fail it will. Its like smokey the bear says, Only You. except its not preventing fires its changing your life. Good luck with the surgery, and you most certainly can do this.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry

i loved gabapentin, worked for my leg neuropathy , i don't take it now because the strain on my body is so lessened i don't need it right now. I love that it didn't affect my other health issues and let me be awake while fighting the pain. -
Endoscopy -- what to expect
Stevehud replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hate hate hate IV's , I had no problem starting lines on other people , but not on me. My sister was or is an ER nurse and one time when i ws in the er they tried to start a line and this nurse just kept jabbing at me like i was a wayward pork chop. finally she stuck me hard, i yelped and over the course of the next 1/2 hour my hand turned into a football. She had jabbed me in a nerve bundle and when i got to my floor the IV was sticking straight up out of my hand. causing the nurses on the floor to gasp, and rip it out replacing it, and after 11 tries they got another line in. But my hands were black and blue for two weeks. It turns out the nurse who first screwed up, hated my sister and exacted revenge through me. I got a written letter of apology for that from the director of nursing. But the second was i went in for my shoulder surgery and the anesthesiologist was brand new and shadowing a really establish anesthesiologist, so she tried 18 times to get a line, the one she got in was on the side of my hand and i screamed like a baby. Wow did that hurt. so as a result i hate IV's so when i went for the endo, i mentioned how much i hated them and my blood pressure shot up so the nurse said, "well we don't have to sedate you , you can do it without the sedation". So i agreed the rest is history. lol -
Endoscopy -- what to expect
Stevehud replied to Vikingsfan8178's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
it all depends how you deal with the sedatives. Some people are literally ok less than an hour later or almost fine coming out of the procedure. others take much longer. I did mine withno Sedatives at all...DONT DO THAT, unless you like gagging retching and burping on end while having a tube stuffed down your throat and saliva pour out of your mouth like a waterfall. its quite , fun. NOT. lol Good luck. -
at 27% body fat and someone says you lack the fat to hold estrogen? if that was true then every thin woman would be in menopause. I don't give medical advice but maybe seek another opinion. also why wouldn't they just supplement your estrogen? Menopause at 38 is quite young. and I've never known an MD to prescribe homeopathic remedies either it's extremely frowned upon by the AMA and legally could cost that doctor a lot of money for malpractice. I did a lot of paperwork for those type of cases when I was working as a paralegal a few years ago. Seeking another doctor especially where you have such a history of Gynecological issues, would not be a bad idea. But again.

Am I the only one who keeps hearing this question?
Stevehud replied to Heather_8.1.14's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I cannot wait to start hearing that question lol. I guess its easy when you dont hear it , to like it. I guess the polite answer would be, " When my body finds the weight it wants to be at." The snarky answer would be "When you stop asking," and the rude answer would be " When you mind your own business." , But you done great so far from what I see, so maybe its a Water on a ducks back type of thing? Keep up the great work! -

Homeopathy/Naturopathy to help with recovery?
Stevehud replied to Shadowcub's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
talk to your surgical team and nutritionist, almost anything in pill form for a while post surgery is for most an absolute no no. and many herbs have harsh effects on the stomach and digestive tract. -

post op dizziness? low sugar?
Stevehud replied to tracyussery's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Those are also the symptoms of dehydration, as well. How much liquid are you getting in? You should be getting in at least 64 ounces plus your "meals" Low blood sugar should only be a factor if you have diabetes, or hypoglycemia. Especially since your pretty much living on low to no sugar for quite awhile after surgery. I would contact your doctor or ER. you may need a good bag or two of Fluid IV to get you back up to hydrated. By always contact your team. Good luck! -

people stop jumping down her throat,, sheesh she didn't attack anyone she didn't yell at them or tell them they did wrong, if it was me or you you would also wonder how they ate a whole plate of nachos, its not that they had a little cheat here or there, if youre a new sleeve its horrible that you would risk your health like that but she didnt say it or show it she just asked about it here in a supposedly safe place so get off her back. I told th story here about one of my surgeons patients who on the way home from the hospital stopped at mcdonald's for chicken nuggets and wound up in the ICU for 3 weeks while they healed her stomach. If i told that story again would you say it was judgemental, or maybe a cheat day? No so get over yourselves. Someone asks a question and you accuse them of being judgemental, as you are judging them.

i think the difference here is many of you who have said you ate this or that are also at or past our goal. if a few week old person at a plate of nachos yeah i would have to think they will fail, and as we all know people do fail, its not uncommon. and as we also know some people never solve their eating problems and rebound back to where they were before the surgery and while it stuns me to go through all this just to fail, I can certainly understand how it happens. instead of being appalled or flabbergasted, take pity on them and go your own way. They have to live their own lives.

Sleeve or gastric for heartburn
Stevehud replied to cosmogirl2535's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had really bad reflux thanks to being overweight and a past sleep apnea surgery that opens your throat and a hiatal hernia. etc. Mine was so bad i wound up with aspiration pneumonia more than a dozen times. which is one step from choking to death while you sleep. Since my surgery and weight loss i have not had one hint of reflux. I was able to stop the ranitidine 4 days post op and havent needed even a tums since. It has been wonderful. -
