    Help! Feeling jiggly!

Here's a good hint, there is almost no way to tighten skin. Very young people have an easier time of it due to having much more elastin in their cells. Lose weight fast and you are going to have loose skin as fat separates from the muscles it used to stick to. Your panny area ( lower belly) will droop and hang and feel like a half empty bag of Jello. yep. justthe way it is. Thats why so many end up with plastic surgery after.
  2. so i had the ct scan , had to drink half a bottle of barium and they stuck me four times trying to get an iv then gave up. the problem is they didnt find a leak instead they found enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen and dont know why. So tomorrow they are going to schedule me for an endoscopy. SIgh. The most obvious cause would be the horrible C word. which i wont even type. So keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer, throw up a gang sign, whatever you have, Ill take it.
  3. lets see , no gallbladder was removed years back, im still waiting for my cat scan appointment its been labeled as urgent and supposed to be today but.... they couldn't find any rib injuries on xray, and if it was a rib, eating wouldnt be a trigger, it would have pain pretty much constantly and might get worse on expiration or inspiration, but mine doesnt. im really leaning toward either my hiatal hernia got much much worse, ( had a little one they decided not to fix in my surgery.) or esophageal erosion, or (gulp, i pray not) a leak or ulcer.
  4. Sorry David but I understand your from Mexico and im sure it is a pride thing, But even the World health Organization ranks mexico city as sixth behind the average US hospitals which are ranked first.. but while mexico's hospitals are getting better , they are not there yet and several numbers behind many of the other countries listed in world rankings. Also most people are not having their surgeries in mexico city. Im not saying they are bad but they shouldnt be misleading either. I agree i would not want shills for either US or overseas agencies working people over. Like i said saying the mexican hospital arent the same as the US isnt saying they are bad or shouldnt be used.
  5. ill also say after reading all these posts, is that people, you can defend the surgeries done in Mexico, but when you tell others not to be biased, and then you show a bias yourself by overly defending them, it only makes you look more foolish. The undeniable facts are that hospitals in mexico are NOT up to par with united states standards. If you are in the medical field you know this to be true. You can check with the W.H.O and find it out as well. To say you have the same chances as if you were in a level 1 , surgical trauma equipped united states hospital as you are in a clinic in mexico is absolutely ludicrous. Now does that mean you cannot have a great experience in Mexico with your surgery? Absolutely not. But it does mean there is the added chance that a high-risk patient will not get that lifesaving care that they may require. Sorry that is simple truth, it cannot be disputed by anything except emotional rhetoric. Now I am extremely lucky, oh and my qualification for my discourse. I was an Army Medic and Paramedic doing rescue in Massachusetts for 11 years. I was in the medical insurance field for 4 years qualifying physicians as exemplary caregivers for one of the largest insurers in the world. Now what can be debated is the percentage of increased risk that exists between the US and other countries. Medical Tourism sites would have you believe it to be zero. This is not the truth, sorry. However due to the inability of foreign governments to provide accurate data , you will never know. In the US you can obtain any lawsuits , deaths and the surgical record for any surgeon , and that is LAW. ( contact your local A branch of the AMA for more information) Now again I am lucky I live 8 miles from Boston where we have 3 level 1 trauma centers and 2 Level 1A trauma centers. Oh and by the way thy do not open the border for ambulances. That i can assure you. you do have a special lane to go into , but they still check your bus, ( sorry our term) and any medications on the US banned import list ( your drug kit) must be sealed on the way across the border. Ambulance from mexico must be stopped and the patient transferred to a vehicle on the us side. S it takes you some time to coordinate this. As a result the transfer time from a hospital in Tijuana to a hospital in California is not fast. I have many friends who make extra money as transfer medics in the companies that specialize in these calls. Now that being said. the facts as as is said many times. do your homework, if your accepting of the risk level, that that facility is for you, if not, then you move on. Be well and safe all.
  6. What is problematic, is that since the co-morbidities exist, we have a higher likelihood of potential life-threatening problems arising during or post, surgery. The issue I personally have is that a higher risk patient needs a higher risk facility. Outpatient surgeries be they in or out of this country, are too often dictated by cost rather than by patient risk. That is what has to change and that is why people must do their homework before choosing a facility and surgeon. It doesn't matter if you save money if that money goes to your funeral expenses. Surgery is not something to take lightly.
  7. Thank you so much for your always insightful approaches to the human condition and obesity. Acceptance is such a huge part of what we do, and how we should do it. I think a lot of people go into WLS thinking that once they lose weight , all will be perfect. When they realize that weight loss is not perfect, and that they also will not be perfect, they hit a wall. It is only when you realize that perfect is not a state of being, but a state of mind that you can get beyond the past and move on to the next phase in your life. Sometimes hitting that wall is good because it urges you to push on through it. For many however, it stays as a wall, becoming a divider between them, and their goal of healthy living. Thank you again for all you do.
  8. i did have a nuclear stress test in the hospital and they were able to rule out an MI. thankfully as my family has a large level of deaths and heart attacks as well. But the horror stories regarding leaks and feeding tubes etc. really scare me.

    Peanut butter

Peanut Butter is actually good for you, my nutritionist made me use it. the natural peanut butter which there are now much more of as well. i do find the natural stuff is uber sticky and i miss drinking some milk to wash it down but its still not a bad choice if youre allowed and in the right stage, right type and right amounts. 'good luck! i want french fries, but seriously id probably trade a testicle for a hotdog on a bun.
  10. a lot depends on your size to start with, etc. i lost 38 pounds first month but that is not typical. Every journey is different.
  11. i guess the obvious one is : I cooked it Smye way!
  12. how about Bari-Good Foods from Smye to You if you pronounce Smye like me. if you pronounce SMye like as in eye, then Bari-good foods-Done Smye way.
  13. put simply the best advice on this is no advice. you have to find what will work for you. For me it was simply a lot of what has been restated i didn't want my digestive tract rerouted, i didn't want the higher risk of dumping syndrome etc. I eliminated the band based on complications and the fact i couldn't get past the implant part of things and also did not want to make a change that is only temporary and could easily be reversed. I needed that stability of knowing i could sabotage myself simply by having the change undone. But as I have said, these are all personal choices, you have to make them for yourself. Good luck with whatever you decide, its not a contest or battle, its all about you.
  14. as far as water intake , why bother with an app, try this instead it sure worked for a whole lot of us.
  15. i dunno the way i look at it, you get all those Vitamins and minerals from a decent Multivitamin anyway. you cant process that much b vitamins from both a multivitamin and shakes so its kind of overkill i guess. i have my own standards, though, so im not saying what to do by any means. But i really go with what tastes good to me and is easy to use since i supplement my um supplements with vitamins etc. ENjoy!

  18. yeah trust me i thought i was super hungry, turns out its just you getting used to your new stomach and vice versa, youll get what feels like hunger pangs etc, but its just the trauma to the stomach and stomach acid. It took me about 2 weeks for mine to really go away, but go away it will.
  19. So i thought i would share with you all how, much you can change in a short time thanks to WLS. especially those who are thinking about it or on the fence or just looking forward to it. this is me before surgery and 120 pounds down
  20. i think it was a blast seeing the pounds fall off at first , kind of like a novelty, then you get used to the losing and truly want to eat like a normal human lol, but then you really get into making the changes, and seeing what you can accomplish, so man its such a roller coaster,
  21. it is indeed. even smaller with less to go around lol

    Carb cycling anyone?

I wish I allowed myself 30 cabs, I'm lucky if i pull in 10 I try to keep it as close to zero as possible. my normal day will net me about 8 grams of carbs. a bad day is about 18
  24. well, leg edema or just general edema, if you get pulmonary edema, it sure can, because that a huge risk during intubation. if its leg based they can adjust for that with some meds make you pee it out a bit, also raising your legs for long amounts of time can reduce the edema beforehand as well. if you were teds or stockings, make sure you folow as directed.
  25. yes most probably a pre existing condition, they probably found during surgery or just after that she had sleep apnea or very low respirations and o2 saturation, which since you can't get a CPAP machine that quickly they put her on O2 as an adjunct to her low o2 saturation.
