Top 10 Signs of Junk Science
Stevehud replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Im always skepticalof anything that ends with, ..."...and my new book." lol thats why people like dr phil and dr oz etc. are so despised by me. people will do anything for money. -
Its understandable to start down the eating disorder road after having to switch drastically to this new lifestyle. Heres the thing, you CANNOT continue on the road you are on and hope to succeed. You mentioned a counselor. Have you told them about this. or do you downplay it or not mention it? It is somewhat easier to mention online because we have anonymity to a degree, we dont have to face the yes of anyone else. My advice and please understand it is only advice. Is to please be very upfront with your counselor. Now i will admit, that at first when i had some issues with my sleeve and threw up. I had those easy thoughts of, hey if i throw-up this is like eating, i get the act of chewing the swallowing and all that but i dont get " charged" with the calories and sugars etc. It is a very tempting path to go down. But you simply cannot do it. There is no magic bullet, no special way to get over it. I can say that it is within you to be a success at this, I truly beleive that you will.

Psych Eval Rescheduled
Stevehud replied to glitterpockets's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your insurance company or surgeons office ( or both) and ask if you can contact a different psych worker. I literally had hundreds to choose from. -
Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
Stevehud replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
tramadol is good, in the hospital the iv nurse gave me a wonderful piece of advice, " ask for IV tylenol." Sounds simple right? but the stuff is expensive. But my insurance covered it so who cares . But it worked so well in conjunction with tramadol. after the first 12 hours the v tylenol was all i needed and then 24 hours i was home and no pain meds. So remember that , trust me it really really helped. -
they are expensive and when i tried 2 different flavors , both times i thought the bag they came in tasted better than the chips...If you need chips i'd recommend the edamame chips from trader joes, or the Maya Kaimal chickpea chips, especially the sea salt ones, oh my are they good, and with some fresh salsa, can be good for you as well and fill that snack urge. But chips are also my big weakness, i have developed an addiction to bbq flavored pork rinds. They go amazingly well with hummus.

Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
Stevehud replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
look into medical marijuana, i used to be adamantly against it, but i had shoulder surgery, and i hate pain meds, a friend brought me over a vapor pen, and i tried a little and it was like night and day. no munchies, no coughing, none of that just the mice pain relief post surgery. Now i of course did it illegally, but perhaps you do not have to, or could, none of anyones business there. but it may just work wonderfully for you. -
Man, i cant say something like i know what youre going through or anything remotely like that because I sure cant. Offering you my support and saying, im listening man. If you need to rant, bark at the moon or howl. just let me know. I , like so many here wish you no more pain, in an obviously painful time. You are obviously a strong and caring guy for getting to this point. I wish you the best.

From the male perspective id say this. Just say your trying to eat healthy and order some veg or a salad etc. Its not a lie, and it gives you endless cover stories until such time as you wish to open up more to that person.

I wil look for it latr but a group out there took dr oz to task and listed tha there were well over 400 supplements dr oz has recommended we should all be taking daily, and they figured if we did, not only would we likely be dead but it would take over an hour a day to take them all. And thats not including the superfoods we have to eat every day. LOL im sorry he may have been a gifted surgeon, but the man will sell anything for a buck.

Good for you!! I actually walked by a mirror in a department store and sort of jumped away because i thought it was someone else about to bump into me. I dont even recognize myself.

Following Surgery - 2 weeks Clear Liquids......ideas please.
Stevehud replied to magicalwoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
42g of Protein is not valid. Just so you know pretty much anything over 30 is excreted. The most you can absorb is around the 30g threshold so over that is something you shouldn't count on your daily protein intake. Good luck. btw my savior during the liquids phase? sugar free Jello. -
From the male side its a totally different life. im ashamed a bit to admit i used to last about 4 minutes and the fat pad around my a..area was hiding quite a bit. now im horny as a porcupine on steroids three times as...endowed and average 20 to 25 minutes per . From the male side of things, its a whole diferent ball game..pun not intended.

Anyone 400lbs or more who had VS
Stevehud replied to Fabiana87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my journey at 408, after my pre op diet i was in my surgery at 362 5 foot 8, Now 240 ish days later im at 198 pounds. I had REALLY bad sleep apnea before the surgery so much so that I had UPPP surgery previously to help it, with some success but not much. Now after getting over 200+ pounds off my chest and neck ( im down 7 inches in my neck alone! ) i can say it is amazing. My sleep apnea is almost non-existent, my daytime sleepiness is gone, I now wake up early, feeling great and literally jump out of bed, those days of lounging in bed for hour after hour, just wanted that little more, are gone. Surgery went off with no worries about the anesthesia. As to what surgery to have, no one can answer that for you, its totally up to you and what works for you. We are all partial to what weve had and what works for us. Whatever works for you is your best choice. Good luck, you can do this. -
Well folks Today it happened. This morning i weighed in at 199.6 , i even took a picture of the scale reading that. The emotions were powerful but amazingly fulfilling. Id like to thank everyone here who has helped, cajoled, encouraged or offered advice , for what you have done to help me get to this point. Through surgery, nutrition, exercise and help from my friends, family, and you all I have reached this goal. Now onward to my final goal. Thank you all again!

can you give us an idea of what you are eating , calories dont provide what type of calories your eating. Also you may just be in the dreaded 3 week stall, happens to almost all of us. Your body is still getting used to what has happened.

Bontril vs Phentermine
Stevehud replied to Dream4tc's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Both Phentermine and Bontril are almost always used in conjunction with a sedative or a depressant like ( originally fenfluramine) Xanax, Topamax, or the combo drug phen pro- which is Phentermine and Prozac, or the like. That removes the wide awake portion. But they have very limited short term use and lets face it it is speed and taking speed every day will cause problems long term , not the least of which is addiction and the need for larger doses. So be careful with them. -
Any tips on riding bicycles?
Stevehud replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well outside of the fact that my butt hurts after a good ride. id say go for whatever works for you sir. Keep up the good work! -
just an FYI there is no anastomosis in sleeve surgery. Only in a RNY or Bypass. and for the record, i use flintstones with Iron and an iron supplement. you just take two chewable. they taste just fine. But vitacraves make a sugar free gummy that was okayed by my nut as well, my wife takes them as she is/was pre etic. also there is a vegan chewable iron that is actually quite good.

So here is what came in the mail today!
Stevehud replied to Stevehud's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
its the Syntrax line of new Protein shake powders, called syntrax naturals. They use all natural ingredients, no lactose, no gluten, no sugar , zero fat , there are 9 carbs as they use non caloric erythritol, it uses monkfruit, stevia and the aforementioned erythritol to ( supposedly) blend away the after taste prevalent in many mixes. Ill be trying them over the next couple of days so ill let you know. -
premier is wayyy to sweet for me, i use the Syntrax products but if you really need lower sweet, the Vitamin shoppe now sell abouttine brand products i assure you beyond a doubt they are the lowest flavored Protein shakes to still have flavors. also have very few ingredients. Any ready pre mixed or RTD shake mix will be super sweet. You can order abouttime packets online as well, and yes its one word.
