The Gastric Sleeve CANNOT be stretched to original size!
Stevehud replied to ga_crystal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Several surgeons call the after area of stomach a "pouch" so its understandable. But there are many articles that show that you simply cannot stretch the stomach back to size. When the fundus, which is the elastic part of the stomach is removed, the rest of the stomach area left, has some give to it, as does all tissue, but it cannot simply regrow new tissue. We havent invented a way to do that yet or we could grow back limbs, and new organs etc. Someday perhaps. -
the stalls are normal. be careful not just how much you eat but what you eat as well. and losing 43 pounds in a month is pretty damn good! it seems like your eating a very small amount by the way. basically you had about 2.4 ounces of food, thats a very very small amount of food. When you say your really hungry are you getting the true rumbling in your gut? if so id recommend using gas x strips trust me when i say a lot of what you think is hunger is really related to gas and the normal new digestion you are having. It takes a bit more than a month to get used to that and understand it.

Somebody in the kitchen across from my office is cooking toast!
Stevehud replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Rants & Raves
i actually toasted one of those skinny girl flat outs the other day and put some butter in it. yum, it was a treat but not much in carbs, so i was okay with it. i use those things with my turkey burgers, yum with chopped jalapenos and alittle pickles on top, its like so good. -
Ideas for ready made stuff I can buy to eat?
Stevehud replied to wagyu's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
personally i love the johnsonville heat and serve turkey sausages, easy peasy and good too. also lets face it i pretty much live off of Protein powder and ground turkey turkey burger and fish. r chicken in any and all forms. Even the lightly breded purdue sensation strips are not bad for you, although id wait until your further along in your weight loss journey. -

Ive done great we have a very close by goodwill and since were very close to an affluent couple of communities my pickings have been fantastic. My favorite finds, a pair of lucky jeans for 5.99 , a 100% silk black sport coat by tommy bahama for 7 bucks, a couple of columbia fleeces, a cashmere sweater, a lucky brand zip sweatshirt, and so much more, heck just last sunday i picked up a pair of polo blue khakis for 3.99 , literally i could go on a lot, an izod bathrobe with the tags still on it, its so much damn fun and , lets face it, its affordable otherwise id be wearing huge clothes or be totally broker than i am lol.

So i will be blunt. The whole penis thing is beyond true. its amazing to see what i was actually packing without being buried in flab. My wife regularly is like, Holy shit! whats the hell. But here is the rub. Im 44 now my wife is 43. She has dropped 30+ pounds just being with me in this journey, im down 204 pounds pre surg 158 since surg. since i started at 408, that means im half the man i used to be...( get that song out of your head now, hah) Literally went from probably 3 inches erect to now showing 8 inches. yeah im happy with that lol Let me ask though, my libido now drives my wife nuts i literally want it every day and then some. and I have to ask has your sex drive increased drastically as well? Also maybe its working out or what but my staying power has gone up from like 4 to 5 minutes post surgery, to well heck im proud to do 20 minutes on average now. SO twofold has this happened to you, and how have you dealt with the increase in horniness. heck i wear compression type exercise undies now and regular gym type shorts, and its getting hard to hide this thing constantly... I admit its a great problem to have but sheesh. It also sucks to think ive missed out on so much by being fat for so long.

Okay so, you may have seen the post i made about the Protein mug cake. If you haven't I will enlighten you. ( i promise to minimize the enlightening as much as possible..) I use Syntrax products for my protein supplements. Well every day for lunch i normally have a Protein shake. But now that its cold ( dang im freezing lol) and id love something not cold, So i came across an idea on the net and ran with it. And boy do i love it. You take a scoop of your favorite Protein powder, ( i use syntrax matrix Cookies and creme and syntrax nectars Cappuccino and syntrax nectars chocolate) so 1 scoop of the powder, 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder and add non dairy creamer until mixed but leave it very thick, ( i use the coffee mate italian sweet creme sugar free) until it is as thick as possible while not being powder anymore, think thick cement consistency. Then into the microwave on high for 35 to 45 seconds ( depending on your microwave ) oh and do this in a microwave safe coffee mug. Also enjoy this while warm, ( and be careful it can get hot) don't let it sit, or well, you know what happens to protein that sits for too long. I also add sometimes about half a teaspoon of sugar-free maple syrup to the top right after baking. It is like a pancake kind of, but man is it good, ive had it for Breakfast as it gives that pastry type fetish thing need whatever you call it, vibe to it. This and i get 24 + grams of protein 100 calories and zero fat, zero sigar and zero carbs. I mean how can you beat that. Seriously I implore you to try it. If you dont know if you like the syntrax products and your using maybe a liquid Protein shake, you can purchase individual packets of syntrax at your nutritional store etc. Vitamin shoppe etc. Or try your own powder it cant be that different. i hope. lol Seriously this is soo good, I am so happy about it. Oh and i just finished one for lunch while i was writing this. Give it a try folks. And i dont know how vegan Proteins will stack up on this, as I dont use them, but many do. So experiment! Good luck, Good Eating , Keep the upper hand on your journey!

thank you all. My secret is, just keep on keeping on, i too have had massive stalls, thankfully im on a 3 pounds loss in the last 5 days. i stopped working out for a week at the behest of some online people who train for a living, and then started up and that seemed to shock my body back into a losing stage. im at 12 pounds to go to my goal but these last like 15 pounds are easily taking the longest. to go from 20+ pound loss months to a 4 to 5 pound onth is...depressing a bit. but i understand it. Just keep on, we will both get there soon enough im sure!

With all this weight loss, im hoping to save up enough to pick up the necessary equipment for an Appleseed event sometime.

My ass hurts when I sit too long, I'm f'ing freezing when the temps dip below 64 and
Stevehud replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
it is funny, last evening we had a transformation recognition night atthe hospital where i had my surgery. The funniest part is the stories about all those things mentioned here. We came up with the thought that we could be millionaires if we just developed an easily portable, discreet, butt pillow/cushion that is also heated and easily carried aboard airplanes buses etc. The weight loss butt pillow. We also discussed how home depot sells heated battery powered sweatshirts, and how i own several pairs of fingerless gloves that I use at work and in my home when working or being on the computer etc. But the real point, was even the surgeons who spoke reiterated many times how this is not the easy way out, or cheating or the like. Also, how we are in this for the long haul and every day is the next step in our journey. -
So what kind of "i didnt know" food events have you had?
Stevehud posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
So basically i called an "i didnt know" about food, when you realize something you never realized about a food or product. For example, i was looking at a "lite" salad dressing this weekend, and the "lite" version had 6 times as much sugar in it as the "regular" version did?? This is one of those events, those things that rally make you think about how things are labelled or how they are represented to us. WHat kinds of these events have you discovered? -
im a big fan of the Eades. ( sort of like Atkins) but they believe more in the high Protein low carbs that have come to be associated with our type of weight loss. They always gave that net carb formula. which is of course, total fiber + protein - carbs = net carbs. and it has really worked for me. Now im very grateful for the addition of the half sugar alcohols number to add in, i find the real sugar alcohol culprits are found in the s products like sugar free candies etc. things that we should probably stay away from anyway, sugar free cakes etc.

Congratulations! its kind of amazing to have this good attention isnt it.

Almost passing out while working out....
Stevehud replied to twil1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had this happen for awhile, we monitored itm and figured out i was always borderline dehydrated, the fix for me, is ai drink alot of fluids and in the 2 hours prior to working out. fluids during the workout did not help at all as you dont have enough time to absorb them. But im not saying thats your issue. -
I always seem to push the Syntrax nectars, my favs are the Cappuccino and the chocolate matrix i mix 3/4 of a scoop of cappuccinno with 1/2 sacoop of choclate and 4 ice cubes and 6 to 8 oz of skim milk. blend and enjoy. Fuzzy navel and lemonade are tied for second place. those i mix with Water and ice or just water in a shakey cap. But the nectars sample pack is worthwhile to get to try many flavors, just rmember milk or milk like product with the sweets and water with the fruits, Good luck!

Genpro has changed, anyone try Piping Rock Whey Protein Isolate Powder?
Stevehud replied to OKCPirate's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
genpro has had issues, people have been taking them to task on the whole idea of how they say they have 3 times faster absorption and therefore you use 3 times less, which it turns out is not true. As a result they had to reformulate. Theres an article in one of the magazines i was reading at the store a month or so back, for the life of me i cant find online at the moment. nor can i remember which mens health type magazine it was, may have been one of the nutrition mags. i cant remember lol -
Will I regain the weigth?
Stevehud replied to Canadian lady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
, here's the bottom line, while the surgery may help with physical need to consume food, it doesn't help with head hunger , that's all up to you and all up to fixing your head. People like me have received a lot of support both from here and from family friends and co workers. I highly recommend taking a deep long hard look at yourself before any surgery and getting counseling, you need to figure out why you have the patterns that you do, and whether or not surgery is right for you. A lot of people fail with keeping weight off, this is not easy and it requires working on forever. There are great people here, do a lot of reading and see the kinds of things you need to do on a daily basis in order to succeed. This is a journey you get on for the rest of your life, and if you cant be prepared fr that, you will fail, maybe not right away, but eventually. Good luck, and use all the tools at your disposal. -
Craving protein shakes
Stevehud replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
