Welcome to the other side.... I have truely never felt hunger since being banded. for me it has all been head hunger. I eat my premeasured portions (when ever possible ) at regularly scheduled times (as my work schedule will allow). I try not to eat more than three meals a day. If i do give into the head hunger I try to stay with protein bars and healthy snacks like cut up apple slices or a small handful of frozen blueberries or a snack pack of yogurt. This is where a call to your nutritionist comes in handy. Call and ask for them to call you back or to email you snack/ meal ideas. They usually are more than happy to help. Best of luck on your Journey.

"First Bite Syndrome" ???
beautifultina replied to divaliciousdee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i get these horrible hiccups everytime i eat. And it is always with the first two bites. My bf calles them Teradactial mateing calls. They are loud obnoxious and embarrassing. I have tried the hot drink thing and I have tried taking small bites..to no avail...I just have found that time is the only cure for me. I have to wait it out. When I am at work and I am upstairs out of public view it is not so bad ...just painful, but If i am on the sales floor it is humiliating. These horrible hiccups come back after my 5th or 6th bite.. my doc said that is probably an indication of being full. So i just stop eating. When I am doing home health care its not so bad; it just makes the old lady i work for giggle. -
Check with your insurance company. My insurance co covers my post op care under my surgery for 1 year...and this does include fills. For the cost of fills you would need to ask the provider who will be doing your fills how much they charge. I am not aware of medicare's policy on lap band fills. My surgeon want to see me every 6 weeks for a check up and possible fill. There are no set guidelines for when you have to be filled or not. It is up to you and your surgeon to discuss. Everyone is different. No not having a fill or not having the time to get a fill does not cause a person to gain weight.. its OUR OWN behaviors that cause us to gain or to lose. If i were you I would call my surgeon's office and ask these questions to them. I would also call my insurance company and ask to speak to some one in the benifits department and ask what is or is not a covered benifit with the surgery. Best of luck in getting YOUR BAND. Keep you chin up and keep asking questions...the information you have is a great tool to help you suceed.

I love Splenda. It has been my saving grace. I tried using Aspartame and it and nutra sweet gave both myself and my mother MIGRANE headaches.... Remember TAB..My mom was JUNKIE to the crap until she found out it was causing the Daily migranes.... no thanks...I will take my chances with Splenda. For those of you you are afraid of it..just like any other produt or service that is out there...you have the right to leave it on the shelf. Just walk past it. But leave it alone so that the rest of us have the right to make a choice as well.

I have never been on a Harley before. DOES THAT MAKE ME A HARLEY VIRGIN?!?!?! Can I sign up to get a ride from one of your local friends with a spare seat? If I have to bring a pup tent and camp in your yard I will be there this year!! I f you want any help coordinating the clothes swap I am volunteering to help. I have organized two for those of us here in Reno. I am also a very good cook and volunteering myself to help you where ever you need help. Are we going to start a thread that says who is comming and where they will be staying and if they are willing to share a room with someone else and what recipe they want to contribute to the cooking on saturday (just to avoid repeats of the same recipe)? oh yeah!! and if they are signing up for motorcycle rides and/or belly dancing lessons? Do they have threads/ stickies that can hold that much info? HA HA I am stoked!!!! and I am looking for nice pretty undies to wear infront of all of you while i am trying on the clothes for the swap!!

If you are AT ALL concerned about your port or band you need to call your surgeon's office IMMEDIATELY and speak with some one there. They are trained professionals and know what the signs and symptoms to concerned about. Seriously, do not hesitate. DO not pass go. Do not collect $200. CALL YOUR SURGEON!!

great words of wisdom. "True love is something you give, not get." You have to love yourself first. Then it opens you up to Fully being capeable to love others around you. I am not one to talk about relationships. I am 32; never been married and have no children.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
beautifultina replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi I am Tina i was 335 pounds in jan 2003. I hit rock bottom when i was diagnosed with PCOS. I started walking and got my weight down to 275 with in 7 months. that is 60 pounds gone just from walking 4 days a week every week. but then i was laid off and went into a deep depression (so bad that i would go for days with out showering or even brushing my teeth--sounds worse than it was) i stopped walking and by jan 2005 I was back up to 308. I fluxed between 308 and 300 for a few months before meeting with surgeon for lap band surgery. I am 5'2" and weighed 308 before my surgery. I was at 56.3 BMI. now being banded I am down to 253 and my BMI is 46.3. My goal is to get to 125. I understand the I only need to lose 60 pounds comments getting to you. It gets to me. It make me second guess myself for getting lap band I think maybe I should have gotten RNY gastric bypass and have lost most of me weight already. But then there are times i am glad to be banded and not out there in the world all alone fighting the demons that are in my head telling me that i need to eat when i really dont. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALL -
Breasts (women only)
beautifultina replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i am 32 and have old grandma boobs already and have for years. mine sag like basset hound ears . my nipples look like broken compasses...always pointing south. i am literally flat chested with out my bra on to scoop and lift them back to where they are supposed to be. funny how my bf can tickle my knee and my boob at the same time with out moving his hand. I plan on getting a lift and reconstruction after i hit my goal. I want to be a small c when all is said and done. -
