Such a great accomplishment! I'm hoping to get there soon! I'm 9 weeks post op, down 45 pounds, and weigh 218. It's so close I can feel it!

Dumped, not died! Auto correct!
-
Great advice! I went to Vegas last weekend to celebrates hubby's 60th birthday and ate too much carbs! I died which triggered an IBS episode that is still active. Not worth it! I am 9 weeks post op, RNY by the way.

Hi! I've been dumping too! It seems hard to break the cycle once I do dump. Just went to Las Vegas for my hubby's 60th and overindulged! I ate dinner roll and wine two nights in a row. Two days later I'm still having trouble. Diarrhea, gas! Today I decided to go clear liquids to see if that will help. Honestly it wasn't worth the cheat! Now I'm making Thanksgiving dinner and I don't want to think about any of the sides! Anyone else deal with this? If so, what broke the cycle?

Gah! When would you disclose surgery plans in hiring process?
Jolisue replied to MisforMimi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If it's not too late, I would tell them you have a minor scheduled surgery. You don't have to tell them what kind but my advice is start out with an honest relationship. Good luck! -
Weight loss plateaus and a bit of panic.
Jolisue replied to Mel_74's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm also experiencing a stall. I had RNY on 9/22, and have lost 40 lbs. my scale hasn't move in 2 weeks. I'm not following the plan exactly because I tend to eat the carbs with the protein. I have made casseroles, and although I'm eating very little, I believe eating simple carbs might be the problem. Back to the plan! You all are inspiring me! -
I had RNY on 9/22. I took 2 1/2 weeks and it was plenty. I also was wiped out by the end of the day, but was able to work without any problems.

How much are you all able to swallow and hold in your new stomach?
Jolisue posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! My bypass was 9/22, and on liquid phase. I don't seem to have any limitations to how much soup I eat or how quickly/slowly I need to drink. How are the rest of you doing? I almost feel like the surgeon only fixed my hernia. ☺️ -
Hi! I'm 6 days post op and feel great because I walked 1/2 mile this morning. Flat surface, sidewalk, neighborhood. I'm just wondering how to gage the distance. I know we are all different, but I don't want to overdo, but I also want to be sure I'm doing enough. Would love to hear from you all!

Looking for friends with September surgery dates
Jolisue replied to eacarpenter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Just got back from ER. Good news, no leaks, clots or infection. Bad news: my hitsl hernia was do big, apparently I have a large amount of fluid collecting where the hernia used to be. My body will absorb the fluid but until it does I will have this pain. -

Ok, here is a question: I have a very slight pain below my right rib cage, right side, like a gas pain. I woke up with it. Does anyone else have this or similar? I called the doc but I haven't heard from him yet. I'm so scared its a leak! I'm hoping it is a gas pain but I thought I was over that. ???? -
Fortunately I love water! My sister suggested I try Isopure protein drink which is like a juice. I tried one yesterday and it is so much better than the drink. You can get them at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. 20 oz with 40 g of protein! I diluted it to make two big drinks.

Thanks! I really need to try something new. I'm forcing myself to drink the protein drinks I have to get the protein in, but honestly I am over them.

Losing Weight Causing Me To Rethink Being In My Current Relationship
Jolisue replied to bs8387's topic in The Gals' Room
The way you have described him he sounds a little lost. I'm not sure how he can be satisfied with playing video games and working with nothing in between. He sounds like a lost teenager. You both are in different places of maturity, goals and most importantly what you want out of life. I'm not a break up encourager so I say this very carefully: it sounds like you aren't a match. Like a previous poster said beautifully, it will be sad to breakup but it will be exciting too. Trust in yourself and move on. I wish you love and happiness and success! -
What is almond butter? Is it like peanut butter?

Hi' I use Map My Fitness. It tracks your walk or run, and it will track your food. It has all kinds of uses. I also use Calorie Counter for food.

Hi WBL, I had the bypass too. I'm glad to hear there are other's like me! There have been a couple of times that I started gulping water, remembered I couldn't and slowed myself down. I'm looking forward to the normal food phase. -
How are all the Sept. people doing?
Jolisue replied to Brenda Witte Evans's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Also, it sounds like you aren't experiencing the limits of the surgery or pouch if you could eat coco wheats, right? I'm not having any problem with drinking or eating. That worries me too. Like wont get the benefits of feeling full? Or maybe we are quick healers? Just another question for the doctor tomorrow. -

At a GNC. They are also carried at Vitamin Shoppe. I am really craving solid good. In fact I succumbed to a craving for peanuts and ate a handful. I experienced what I think was dumping last night. I had chills. I didn't throw up Or get nauseous, I just felt overall poorly! -

I'm good. Getting some walking in twice a day, and able to do lite housework. The liquid diet is hard. I'm totally sick of the protein drinks. I found the juice called , "Isopure." These have same calories, 160, but 40 grams of protein. I dilute it half water have juice, and it's delicious. No more Premier Protein. I'm eating soups then for meals. -

Hey Hardware Jedi, How are you doing? You are one day post up earlier than I. How is your pain level? I hope you are feeling great! -
This is s great discussion. We are all addicts to food. I can see how it would be fairly easy to transfer one addiction to another. I know I have to be careful moving forward. Thanks everyone for sharing!

Looking for friends with September surgery dates
Jolisue replied to eacarpenter's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! Sorry to hear about your nausea! Day 3 was my most difficult. Today is one week, day 8, and I'm really good. I'm having a hard time regulating my body temp. Last night I had chills so bad I was worried I had a fever. This morning took my temp and I'm normal. Go figure. ☺️ Now to be really honest, I think I had a dumping issue because I ate peanuts! I'm on liquid phase of the program. I couldn't take one more shake or blended Soup, so I grabbed a handful, probably 1/4 cup. I chewed really well so I hope nothing gets stuck in my wounds! But about 30 minutes later, I had the chills. I didn't get nauseated, but I felt a bit of discomfort around my surgery sites! I'm feeling pretty ashamed! Today is a new day and I'm making a commitment to stay on track! -
I am sorry you are dealing with this! Having problems with the surgical coordinator seems to be common. The gal in my surgeon's office is also not good. My pharmacist has been calling her for almost three weeks with no return call. Starting tomorrow I'm supposed to be on a medication the pharmacy won't fill because my insurance won't cover it. The pharmacist called to ask if he could replace it, and no return call. It's hard to be vulnerable when your support system isn't all excellent.
