  1. Happy 50th Birthday newnana!

  2. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary newnana!

  3. I can totally relate! Several years ago, I lost about 50lbs and was feeling quite good about my efforts. Then one day, while at the swimming pool, I saw a woman who had obviously lost a great deal of weight, yes she had alot of loose skin. Well, it freaked me out. Subconsciencely, that was the end of loosing weight. Over the next 3 years I gained all the weight back. Not only am I back where I started but actually worse. My knees have unbearable pain. I feel like I am against the wall. I must loose weight and my knees need immediant relief. I went to the seminar on LabBand and have my initial consultation this week. I also see an ortho surgeon this week. I have decided that skin is the least of my issues. Maybe it can be a badge of honor! :clap2:I hope this can help with some perspective.

Thanks Mary! Your words are encouraging. I see both doctors this week and am anticipating a plan of action to develop. Our insurance doesnt have any weight loss surgery coverage, even with a "strong case" but I certianly will try but I am not going to allow it to stop me. I have been reduced to tears twice this week because of the pain. I also have been having some negative self talk about the LapBand, like everytime I eat I think to myself "why don't I just eat small amounts now?" "why don't I do a partial preop type diet now, 2-3 slimfasts and a healthy dinner, instead of waiting?" Maybe after my appt this week I will have a few answers and definately some direction. I know the mental aspect of all of this is the most significant part. I will also probably start attending the support groups pretty soon to help with that. I hope to connect with some gals for support. Get well and stay well!

Thanks! I am hoping for a quick process also! I am dealing with cronic knee pain. I also have an appointment with a new ortho surgeon. I will not be suprised if he says I must lose weight before doing knee replacements (at least one). My hope is to make do until I can lose weight and in the end buy myself a few years before knee surgery! I see Dr. Schroder before the ortho doc so I hope to be able to tell him "I have a plan!"

I am seeing Dr. Schroder (RCG) on Oct. 25th for initial consult. I am anxious to learn what I need to know to make this decision. I am 99.99% sure I will pursue this. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover so I am a self pay as they say. :-o I am not looking forward to the long wait until a scheduled surgery as I am learning from reading these threads. Cannis, good luck and I hope to hear how things go for you. Any info will be greatly appreciated, Richmonders!

I attended the seminar at SMH Oct. 8 and have scheduled a consultation appt. on Oct. 25. I have been reading this forum and this site for a few weeks now. I would love to connect with some locals for info and encouragement.
