Does Everyone Get a "Drain"
Cody's mom replied to GreenEyes604's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a drain, it was just a little thing, and they removed it when I was discharged from the hospital. It was really no big deal. -
@@Kindle It is frustrating loosing so little and not seeing the scale move week after week (I have one that has a decimal point so I know that it doesn't move at all), but am also hoping that because of the slow weightloss, I'll have less sagging skin, but that might not be the case either. I spoke with my sleeve buddy and she hasn't lost anything in five weeks, so at least I know I'm not alone. That being said, neither one of us have gained weight in the last month, nothing lost, nothing gained! I lost 10 pounds in my two week pre-op, then only 15 pounds in these last eight weeks, I'm exactly eight weeks tomorrow since surgery.

Do what is best for your body and what you can handle. I had mine done with Elis Oritz in Tijuana Sept 14, 2014. I had no problems or issues.

Counting Down the Days to a Slimmer Me!
Cody's mom replied to Fatdiva14's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Fatdiva14, if only a persons size was measured by the amount of fitness clothes, video's, weighloss clubs joined, diet pills taken, and crying done and money spent. I'd be back to 110 pounds myself. But your story is so familiar! -
I never did puree foods, the very thought of blending foods was disgusting. I went right from liquids for a week after surgery to solid foods, I just tried to eat soft foods and when I ate meat (which was almost every meal), I chewed, chewed, chewed. I had to, it was either that or starve. 11 days after surgery I had prime rib with potatos and brussel sprouts and it all went down just find. Just really small amounts and again, I chewed, chewed, and chewed. If I tried to eat too fast I threw it up. Pasta and rice were my biggest problem, I tend to wolf them down then back up they come, I always did better the second time when I focused. Again, I was only eating a few mouthfulls of each item then that was it (a huge difference from the two platefulls prior to the surgery).

I was sleeved eight weeks ago and have only lost 15 pounds in eight weeks. Sometimes it's really slow. Try weighing yourself only once a week, less depressing!

I'm heading to the US I think on the 19th I can ship it out then. Shipping from Canada is going to be way to difficult. When is your surgery? -
anyone try juice plus supplements
Cody's mom replied to MindyLynn5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not a fan of juice plus as they are soooo sweet and stick to your teeth. If your looking for a gummy vitamine there are great ones from Costo, both the Kirkland Mulitvitamin Gummies and the Vitafusion Women's are great. Make sure you get your Biotin. -

@looznsoozn I did two nights back in the hotel once I returned from surgery. Are you going threw a lighter me? I bought the meal package from them that I didn;t use (it was around $300). I would be happy to send it to you if you paid the postage. It's just an easy way of eating for the first month. You can check it out on their site, but I don;t need it at all. I'd rather someone used it than throwing it away. You can ask Ronda at a lighter me about it, she put it together. Don;t know what the postage would be, but probably not too much. Let me know. -

@@looznsoozn I went alone, but I know there is a cot for the spouses to sleep on in the hospital. Everyone tipped in American funds, I think I went threw $200 US in tipping money. -

I can't drink the shakes either, what kind of protein bars did you use? That might be the route I have to take as well, I'd like to be getting more protein in a day. -

I was on regular foods as tolerated within two - three weeks. I had no problems. -
I too had endless cravings, hunger bangs and mourning of the foods I loved. Luckily I was able to take all my cravings for a test drive, the best thing I have done, as once I tried things I was craving, I no longer craved it. What was an obsession, is now gone. I tried it, I tasted it, I enjoyed it, but now the cravings are gone. I have done that with everything, I didn't deny myself what I was dreaming about, now I don't even think about what I thought I couldn't live without. Crazy.

Vitamin to help hair loss
Cody's mom replied to kimmerzj29's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started Biotin immediately (three days after surgery), and because of my inability to drink protein shakes I was instructed to increase the mcg's to 10,000 per day instead of the normally recommended 5,000. I have it in both the dissolving and pill form, and haven't had a problem taking either. I'm only seven weeks out so haven't begun to lose my hair yet. I take several vitamins a day in both pill form and gummy form and have had no problems ingesting any of them. -
I've Only Lost 4 lb 1st Week - Did Any of You Lose That Little?
Cody's mom replied to sukik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Didn't weight myself for the first month, after a month I had lost 15 pounds, sadly since then I've only lost .2 of a pound in the last three weeks. Guess it's called a stall. I would chose a day and weight myself once a week on that day! -
Of course you can, you are no more at risk than anyone else. If it's a dirty filthy spa I'd advise against it for anyone.

TMI - bowel prep questions...
Cody's mom replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to take a laxative.. I took it at 8:00 pm Thursday night and by about 8:00 am Friday morning I was good, thankfully as I had a eight hour drive a head of me. Surgery was the Sunday! -
Why Am I Not Losing Weight?
Cody's mom replied to jessica0728's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 15 pounds the first month, then nothing since. In two weeks I've lost nothing, and it is really difficult to accept. This is not a quick fix, that I know, but since starting this journey I began exercising I eat nothing more than two or three bites at each meal, a HUGE change from before the surgery, and NOTHING. Not even a tiny bit! I have a scale that uses a decimal point so it should show even the slightest weight loss, but nope, it hasn't moved in two weeks. 15 pounds in six weeks, not great by any means. Will I be the one this didn't work for? -

What to do what to do ?
Cody's mom replied to quevedo05's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's funny to think how someone could possibly think this is "The Easy Way Out". Really, believe me, there is nothing easy about it. It's nothing more than a tool to help in the aid of weight loss and a key to a happy and healthy life. Easy, absolutely not. You have to do what is best for YOU, and your child, and in my mind that is the most important thing. Find someone that will support you, a friend, a cousin, someone that is on your side, and seek help from them. This is not a miracle, you have surgery and BAM the next day you're thin..... No, no, no! You still have to eat properly and exercise, it just is another tool to help your consumption. Me I love, love, love food, it began to take over my world, so this was my tool to help with that. This is a decission that only you can make. Good luck! (I did mine in Mexico and it was easy)! -
