    Forum Newbee

Welcome!!! I started my journey on July 3rd,2014..my insurance only required me to do labs, nutrition seminar and a psych evaluation. I'm all done with those things and in August 28th I received my approval from my insurance. It actually only took me 2 days to get my approval. The longest waiting time was my surgeons office receiving my psych evaluation which was about a week and a half. I had to keep calling them and then we found out that the psych office had the wrong fax number..lol..but if u end up waiting for too long I would greatly encourage u to continue calling them and stay in them about it. My surgery date is 9/15...good luck to you on your journey

CIGNA denied WLS for pre-existing condition?

I would call CIGNA directly and see what the "pre-existing" thing is. Hopefully your surgeons office will help you get your approval. Good luck to you

My Name is Ken C. I weighed 525 LBS

Thanks for sharing your story. It's amazing at how far you've come. I read your story and know that there is life after surgery. I'm scheduled for 9/15/14..and get nervous because it's my first surgery and the idea of going under freaks me out a little bit

    Psych Eval

In my opinion I would go the insurance way. It will save you a lot of money. Especially since it's $375.00. It seems like it's a longer waiting period but to me I would go that route. Good luck to you on your journey

    My second attempt

My surgery is schedules for 9/15/14 and I am so scared and nervous. I feel like an emotional roller coaster because one minute I am very excited and then when I think too much into it them I start getting scared again..lol..I think it's a natural feeling though. I also think it's because it's my first surgery ever. But I've done a lot of research and I know this is what I need to get my life back. good luck to u

    Surgery date 10/6

Congrats in your weight loss so gar. I am getting sleeved on 9/15/14. All I can say to y is feeling nervous/second guessing your decision is normal. I myself can't tell you how many times I have second guess my decision or thought about if I can loose the weight on my own in a supervised diet then I don't need surgery. But what it comes down to is that I have trouble keeping it off which reminds me that that is why I am here and chose wls. You can do this. All the thoughts and emotions you are going through are natural. But keep up with the good work
  17. so almost 2 weeks before surgery I get a freakin cold. Ugh..runny nose..sore throat..and a ear ache..and all I can take is Tylenol..ugh shoot me now

Congrats to you. I got my approval on the 28th. I was shocked because my insurance coordinator had barely submitted on the 26th.

    Insurance questions

It sounds similar to my insurance in a way. My insurance covered my labs, and psych evaluation. It didn't not cover my nutrition class which meant I had to pay for the class which was $45 compared to what my deductible usually Is which was $20. And they didn't require me to do any kind of 3 -6 month supervised diet. But if I were you I would call them and ask them what is required for wls surgery. Because all those requirements need to be met before you submit for authorization. If something is missing from paper work then they will deny u so it's best if u ask the insurance first what's covered and how much of it they are covering before u move forward. Good luck to you
  22. And this girl is APPROVED!!!!.Yay I am so happy and relieved that I finally got a date. September 15th is around the corner.. :)

    Honeymoon's Over...Help?

Don't give you up!!.you have made a major transformation. And the best is yet to come. Do you log what you eat. Are you eating enough protein? I'm having my surgery at the end of September so I haven't experienced anything yet but my surgeon told me that after a year or two you will notice the weight loss will slow down or even stop. He says that it is normal to gain a small amount back but if you feel like you are gaining too much of it back u might want to make a log of what you're eating and see how u can make changes. But good luck to you and keep up the good work.
