    Liquid diet

They put you on liquids right after surgery and weeks after because you're stomachs very fragile and it needs time to heal. Especially after surgery your stomach is swollen from all the trauma it's been through so liquids are the only thing that will go down. Then toy can gradually move on to thicker textures.
  4. So far I am doing good on my liquid diet. Even though I just want to eat, and it's weird because I won't be hungry I just want to chew because I haven't chewed anything in the last 2 days..lol..but I can't wait for surgery I know this is going to change my life for the better :)

    how do I get approved?

You should call your insurance company and see what they require. Some insurance companies count arthritis and thyroid problems as co-morbidities. Which means that even with a low BMI you may still qualify because of those things.

congrats on your surgery date chica, I am so excited for you. I was only there 1 day, I really didn't need much. I agree with scrapbasket, you will definitely need some lip balm. The clothes I wore to the hospital are the clothes I wore home, loose fitting of course and a clean air of undies. You literally will not need much. Good luck to you and again congrats.

    Concerned for a friend's health

It is very good that you are concerned about your friend. I am still pre-op and am scheduled to have surgery on 9/15. After getting "sleeved" it us very hard for a person to get in enough of the recommended protein wand ter intake. It is very important for her to make sure she gets in enough water because without the water intake she is at risk for becoming dehydrated which will land her back in the hospital. Every surgeon is different buy most recommend you get at least 600-800 calories a day and might even work up to 1000. Because her stomach is a lot smaller now it's not as easy to take in a lot of food. I don't think she has an eating disorder. As a lot of people who are post op says it's hard to eat. You become very forgetful because you don't have the urge to eat it's like you have to force yourself to do so. In my opinion you should just tell her how you feel. Ask her what her surgeon and nutritionists think about her intake and about the amount of exercise she is doing..she might be very appreciative to the fact that you are concerned about her health. .good luck to you

    Sleeved as of 9/4

Hello..@@konalisa80 my surgery is set for next Monday 9/15. Congrats to you on your surgery. Is the shoulder pain from the air that they put into your belly during surgery? Is it a tolerable pain or are you still taking pain meds?

    Is PCOS considered a co-morbidity?

I personally don't have pcos, but I have read other people's topics that have it and they say the insurance considers it a co-morbidity

    Nectar Protein

Did you order the Syntrax Nectar? If so that is the one that I have been using. I am still pre-op my surgery isn't for another week 9/15, but I tried a couple other proteins and the nectar protein is what works for me. I like how it only has protein. (23 grams of protein per 1 scoop) And you can mix it with either water or almond milk. Water gives it a thinner texture. The only thing i am worried about is that some people say the protein shakes that were working for them before surgery don't work for them now. So i hope my taste buds still agree with it afterwards. I also hear others like the premier agreed unjury as well

nervous about having my sleeve leak

My surgery is 9/15..and I too am also scared about a leak. Well shoot let's be honest the closer it comes I'm getting nervous about everything. Some surgeons put extra stitches over the staples and do a leak test the next day. But don't worry they check all that before they close you up
  23. I'm still in pre-op. My surgery is 9/15 I like the syntrax nectar. .it is really good and is ALL protein. One scoop carries 23 grams of protein.

    Initial Consultation Disappointment:(

Wow..sorry for your bad consultation. That has to such especially putting $250 into it. In my personal opinion it is very natural for you to have so many questions especially be a use its you who has to go through all the changes. It doesn't at terms how much research you do before hand you will always have questions and the doctor should expect that. I think it is very inconsiderate of him to rush you like that. I understand he has other patients but every patient should be left feeling some kind of security in their surgeon. In my honest opinion I would seek elsewhere. Especially if you are paying out of pocket you are paying a lot of money and deserve the best care. Good luck on your journey. Wishing you all the best
