    Dallas Surgery Buddies Needed

    Thanks! That really helps!
  4. Hi everyone, I should be done with all the preop requirements mid December and my insurance coordinator will submit to to blue cross federal. I'm kinda thinking I may get denied the first round cause my bmi 2 years ago was 33.6. Now it's 36 and I've had chronic high blood pressure for many years. I take 2 meds a day for it. I'm a little worried because I travel for work with trips planned in December and January. I'm so afraid of blood clots and that's always been a huge concern for me. Has anyone else traveled within a few weeks of surgery or have you gotten any direction from your physician? I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!

    Dallas Surgery Buddies Needed

I'm with Dr. Barker, Barker Bariatrics. My hope is January at Forest Park Medical. I have a group diet meeting tomorrow and one in December. Everything else is done, I have blue cross federal by the way. I'm a little worried about my BMI since I'm required to show a 2 year weight history which was only 33.6 2 years ago, 36.6 now with chronic high blood pressure. Waiting till January will take care of the requirement hopefully! Look forward to staying in touch!

    could it get worse?

I have never heard of this! My last appointment for supervised diet is December 11th. I actually wanted to wait and submit to insurance the first of January that they advised against it just in case we need to appeal. I agree, call or go up there to demand they expedite your submission!!!

    Hypothyroidism

I had hypothyroidism and hashimotos, an autoimmune disease due to thyroid. I ended up having to have a thyroidectomy 2 years ago and boy!! I packed on the pounds! I'm hoping the sleeve helps. I have read articles are the subject and from what I understand, stalls ate very common for people living us. Did you loose normally at first?

Money out of pocket day of procedure

@"Beni" did you have a hard time getting approval? I'm not there yet but it won't be long!

Money out of pocket day of procedure

It also depends on if you have the standard or basic plan, I know it is for Bcbs federal. Standard has no deductible. I will have to pay $400. $200 to the surgeon and $200 to the hospital.

    BCBS Federal-Really need some advice!

Hi Ladiec2! We have to remain in touch! I feel a bit more confident since I've gotten feedback from the site. I haven't gotten the results of the sleep study, but I have a co morbidity by way of hbp which I've had for years. If I'm denied, I'm prepared to appeal. I've done too much to give up!

This does indeed help! This shows my that I really need to be an active participant in my approval. I'm going to get a copy of my records as well.

    BCBS Federal-Really need some advice!

Wow! That's great! From what I've been told, the weight history, nutrition, and 3 month diet is an insurance requirement. The stress test, sleep study, and endoscopy are required by this particular surgeon. Currently my BMI is 36.6 but I'm on about 8 medications a day!!

    BCBS Federal-Really need some advice!

@ Elode, I've tried diets too and I lost and gained! We all know the cycle! I've tried adipex twice in the last 2 years and I know that's in my record. Thanks! This really helps!!!
