Where are you in Texas--I'm in Fort Worth. -
Thanks for the hint. I'm going to remember that when it's time to get started. I tried the Premier strawberry and didn't like it, although lots of people do seem to like Premier. I've ordered unflavored unjury and GENEPRO so I hope they are truly unflavored! I've also got a sample pack of the nectar Protein drinks.

Any November Sleevers for 2014 need surgery buddys?

I called the insurance company yesterday and after a long hold found out that I've been approved! Should be getting the letter in the next few days. So I called the doctor's office and scheduled my pre-op appointment with him and they will be calling me to let me know when to go for my pre-op at the hospital. Surgery is scheduled for November 10th!!! I'm so excited. Even the lady at the insurance customer service could tell I was excited. I've been getting samples of Protein powder to try for my pre-op clear liquid diet. Doctor requires clear liquid 7-10 days before surgery. My NUT said my tastes will probably change after the surgery. -
Even a normal-sleeping person would have trouble sleeping with all the wires they attach to you anyway! I didn't realize how loud I snored until I went back after the sleep study to talk to the doctor--I was so embarrassed. I'm looking forward to not having to use my CPAP machine after I lose weight, but it really helps for now. I've been staying at my daughter's while she's out of town (my grandson is 15 so it's not really babysitting), and I didn't take my CPAP because I didn't want to unhook everything. I didn't realize how much difference it would make in how well I sleep.

I'm hoping to have mine on November 10th. I'm waiting for insurance approval--should be hearing something any day according to doctor's office. -

The surgery guide my doctor's office gave me says that you can be extremely sensitive to smells for up to 6 months after surgery. One of the hints was to put peppermint oil on a handkerchief to sniff when you have problems with odors. -
plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

I read somewhere that it's important to keep a record of times that you have to visit your doctor for problems caused from the excess skin after you've lost a lot of weight. This proves to the insurance company that it's medically necessary and should be covered. I'm scheduled for surgery in November and I hope to lose a lot of weight so I'm sure that I'll have tons of extra skin. I'm going to make sure to keep good records in case I should need plastic surgery. -
Looking for a " Dear God let me get approved" Pal

I'm in the same situation. I've met my out of pocket for this year so I have to get it done before Jan. 1st. I've had all the tests and meetings. The doctor's office said they were sending it to the insurance company this past Wednesday and my "dummy date" for the insurance company is Nov. 3rd. I'm just waiting for the approval. I'm not going to be able to have the surgery on the 3rd though because I have to take the week before off from work to stay with my grandson and my boss doesn't want me to be out of the office 2 weeks in a row. I'm just planning to take 1 week off for the surgery. I have a desk job so I'm hoping that I'm not too tired to go to work. -
Frequently Asked Questions

My nutirtionist emphasized that lack of Protein was the main reason why you lose your hair. She told me my goal is to have at least 75 gm of protein each day. -
The "nutrition test" is a test that the bariatric team makes us take 2 weeks after our nutrition class to make sure that we understand what and how we can eat before and after our surgery. It's 50 questions and we have to score at least a 90 in order to be scheduled for surgery.

My nutritionist says I can't have any gummy Vitamins after surgery. I bought some before I found out so I've been taking them just to use them up before surgery. I'm going to take Centrum chewables after the surgery, as well as calcium plus Vitamin D and vitamin B12. I can't stand the smell when I open my vitamin bottle either so I've gotten in the habit of pointing the top of the bottle away from me when I open it. Seems to help a little bit.

I hope age doesn't hinder the weight loss too much because I'm going to be 68 in October! I wasn't overweight when I was young--just snuck up on me after I had my children a little bit at a time. I've been obese though for enough years that I've forgotten what it's like to be slim! I'm hoping to be out of the morbidly obese category for a few years before I meet my Maker! I'm still working and plan to for another 2 or 3 years so I'm looking forward to the surgery--even with the yucky Protein shakes!

I had to have one done--in fact, I had it done almost 2 weeks ago. I found out that I have some acid reflux issues although I wasn't aware of any problems. The surgeon started me on medication. I'm supposed to have the sleeve done but my surgeon's staff said this won't change my surgery. All I have left to do is my nutrition test on 9/10/14 and then my documents will be sent to the insurance company for approval.

Work/Sleeve Balance

I have a desk job and am hoping to be scheduled for my surgery by the end of September. I'm planning to take a week off and then go back to work. I'm expecting to be tired but at least when I get home, I only have to worry about taking care of me and my 2 dogs! I'm planning to have all my housework taken care of before I have the surgery so that I won't have to worry about cleaning. -

You guys make me happy that I live alone now! I'm still waiting for my surgery date--hopefully before the end of September. I'm already dreading the 7-10 days liquid diet before the surgery. I haven't found a Protein drink that I really like yet. I'm still looking.
