Unfortuately this happens often with many different types of surgery. My daughter had back surgery and found out after having many problems that not only did her doctor not do the surgery, but they also placed the wrong equipment in her back and she has permanent pain now. She had done much research before picking her doctor and he assured us immediately before the surgery that he himself would be performing the surgery. Needless to say, there's now a malpractice suit in process.

I've had thin hair forever -- long before I even thought about this surgery. I use Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and it's helped my regrowth. I'm scheduled for surgery on 11/10 and I'm already dreading the expected hair loss--it has to be rough when you don't have a lot to start with!

The pre-op diet is tough! I'm on my 4th day of Clear Liquids and I cheated over the weekend too. I'm back on the wagon today and I could tear one of my legs off and eat it raw right now! It's easier at work because I have people watching me but I worry about when I get home tonight and I'm by myself. I MUST BE STRONG!

I had a hard time at first because I sleep with my mouth open (lovely!). I started with a nasal pillow which would have been pretty comfortable if I could just keep my mouth closed! So I switched to a full face mask covering both my nose & mouth which works better.

That's one of my top goals! That and have a lap big enough to hold something on my lap! I'm so excited and ready for my surgery. November 10th can't get here soon enough! -
Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
DeanieG replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have some too but I'm not going to try it until I start my all liquid diet on Nov. 1st. I'm glad to hear that it really doesn't have a taste. I've tried the Premier strawberry and it was awful. I've heard the chocolate & vanilla are better but if the GENEPRO works, then I'll be set. I've also got the unflavored unjury to try. -
I'm still set for Nov 10th. I have to walk at least 30 min every day. If I still get out of breath when I walk, then I will have to see a cardiologist. I think it's just because it's been so long since I've been active.

I'm scheduled for Nov. 10th in Fort Worth, TX. I have my pre-op appointment today with my surgeon. I'm so excited! I had to lose 11 pounds since the first time I saw him and I had lost it, but now I think I might have gained some back over the weekend. I guess we'll see in a couple of hours.

END OF OCTOBER/FIRST OF NOVEMBER SURGERIES/BUDDIES NEEDED
DeanieG replied to Packerfan61964's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Packerfan, when my girls were that age, that's probably the answer I would have gotten too! LOL But now that they're 44 and 46, they appreciate their old Mom! They do tend to try to boss me around though. -

I'm in Fort Worth, TX & scheduled for 11/10. I've got my 2 adult daughters as support for me and you can have one of them--they're bugging me with too much help! Just kidding--I love that they both want to take care of me but I was a single mom from the time they were in early teens so I learned to be independent--too independent they think! It does help that they both have nursing degrees and one is working as a home health nurse. So I'll have awesome help in my recovery. -
I was never a water drinker either until I started prepping for my surgery. I focused on getting 64 ounces in and now I don't go anywhere without my water.

November Sleevers, let's buddy up

I'm scheduled for November 10th. I am so ready for this. I just wish I had done it a long time ago. -
My stress test was horrible--it could be because I'm almost 68 and NEVER exercise though! I had to do the one on the treadmill and I have really short fat legs and haven't run anywhere in years. By the time I got to the fast part, my arms weren't long enough for me to be able to hold on to the rail and I don't have good balance so it was scary! Now that I look back on it, it was funny but at the time I thought I was going to become one of those YouTube people that everyone laughs at! My doctor said that I had to reach 85% on some scale that she was looking at for it to be a valid test and when she finally stopped the treadmill (after I begged in my best whiney voice), I had reached 86%. I just barely avoided having to go to a cardiologist for the chemical test. I don't have any heart issues--never have, but my PCP wanted to be sure before she gave me clearance to have the surgery. If I had it to do again, I would definitely start walking immediately so that I could keep up with the treadmill for a longer period of time. If you walk much in your regular life, you won't have any problems--I've just been a couch potato for years. That's about to change though--I see walking and exercise in my future!

Overwhelmed at the thought of the new way of life I will have to adapt
DeanieG replied to MauiGirl5555's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Myonlybattle -- thanks for the wonderful encouragement! I've never doubted my decision to have the surgery--I'm so excited and looking forward to having it. After reading your post, I'm even more sure that this will be one of the best things I could ever have done for myself--I just wish I had done it years ago. I wish I didn't have to wait until Nov. 10th to have the surgery. -

I don't have my surgery until Nov. 10th but one of the things I worry about (in addition to gaining the weight back) is not drinking anything 30 min. before, during or 30 min. after a meal. It's just so natural for me to have a glass of tea or Water when I eat. That's going to be a hard habit to break. Livsmum--you're my new idol! You look great. I'm about 40 years older than you but I want to be slim again! This will be my time to succeed! -
I'm just taking a week off. I'm a paralegal so I sit at a desk all day. When I go back I'll leave early if I get too tired. I can take a nap during lunch if I need to.

Hello everyone. I'm going to be 68 in a couple of weeks and my sleeve surgery is scheduled for November 10th. I'm so excited! I'm having a hard time trying not to pack my hospital bag already! I still work full time and am planning to only take one week off work. I work as a paralegal so it's not hard physically. I can rest when I need to. I've worked for my attorney for almost 25 years so I have him trained well.
