I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

My before and after ... So far (12 weeks post-op)
  2. Hi All... I'm 3 weeks post-op and I can't keep food down. My 1st week post op seemed so much better than week 3. I placed a call to my surgeon of course, but I'm waiting for a response since it's the weekend. I love this forum because there is so much 1st hand information. Anyways... Week 2 and going on week 3 has been miserable. I can't stand the thought of putting anything in my mouth because of the nausea. I was prescribed an anti-nausea patch, but so far it hasn't worked. I'm just worried because what little I do try to eat won't stay down. I can drink water, but even then I start getting nauseous. I'm not eating too fast either. I took two tiny tiny bites of yogurt this morning and it came up. I just feel so helpless. This is not what I wanted. I want balance and I want to feel healthy. I feel more u. nhealthy now than I did 30 pounds ago pre-op. I'm glad I've lost weight but this is not happiness. I would take back my 30 lbs pounds if it meant that I would feel good physically. Sure I was unhappy with my pre-op weight, but this nausea and physical starvation (not hunger) is making me feel so radically unhealthy and ill. I know everyone says it gets better... but I don't think I can stand much more of this. Do most people have this relentless nausea and disgust towards food? Please know that I'm not trying to be negative, but right now there are no positives. At this point the weight loss isn't worth it. I hope that one day it will be.

    I wish I had known

Wish I had known how hard the first month post-op would be, but I would do it 10 more times if I had to! Love VSG and all the amazing things it gives!

    9 months out, my story.

Amazing girlfriend!! Congrats on your transformation! I'm about 11 weeks out so I'm still working on it, but happy with my progress so far too! Cheers to your accomplishments!

    I'll show you mine... (LBD's)

So in love with VSG and what it has done for me Everyone looks so fabulous!!
  6. I am just about 10 weeks post op.. And I was surprised at how much I could eat. My brain has learned that I can graze now if I choose. Like perfect clockwork, I just had a conversation with my surgeon about the reality that food will become easier to eat and easier to eat larger quantities. I just started much more intense exercise so I'm motivated. Overall though, Thanksgiving was amazing and blessed I'm so thankful for this tool to help me better myself. Staying motivated
  7. So excited and anxious at the same time. Today I'm 200.4 lbs... RUGHT THERE! But it's ok. I'm loving this journey so far!

    200.....

Thank you both so much today I'm 200.0 LOL.. But I'm loving life and couldn't be happier! I love this forum and everyone on it for the support it provides!
  10. I hope everyone had a smooth surgery.. The first couple days can be rough.. But you'll get through it. Walk, walk, walk.. Don't stress about protein immediately you likely aren't going to be able to get much in. Be sure to focus on water though.. You must stay hydrated! If you struggle with nausea just remember that much of it is mental and ask you doctor for an anti nausea medication.. I ring know what I would have done without it! And just remember the first month is the toughest but there IS light at the end of that tunnel!

    Morning nausea

Yes.. But mine has subsided for the most part. I find that drinking warm fluid helps. It relaxes the sleeve.

    Omeprazole making me sick?

Are you eating or drinking anything acidic? That's usually the culprit.

    Telling about surgery

I have been public about my surgery! I love telling others because WLS has a bad reputation and I don't feel that telling someone my weight loss is from diet and exercise is truthful... That just gives others false hope. I was open about it at work and Facebook. No one has been negative but if they were I would care about their opinion. God and VSG have changed my life and saved it.. I want to tell everyone!

    Coconut water?

Coconut water didn't sit well for me during the first month but if you can tolerate it, it's wonderful and so healthy! Natural electrolytes too!!!

Forgive me for I have sinned

McDonalds is highly processed and the content of your meal was mostly simple carbohydrates.. It's a slider food that can go down easily versus a high quality protein that will not digest as easily.

    My body feels awful...

I understand.. I felt awful too. I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.. but for me, week 4 was the magical week when I started feeling better. Sip on broth. Homemade is the best just boil chicken with bone in for a couple hours and add salt and pepper to taste. It tastes good and hydrates. Try sipping warm fluid. I couldn't drink any artificial sugar is made me so nauseous. Warm fluid and broth, saved me! It WILL get better!
  19. I am all about educating myself on as much as I can... Deciding to have the VSG was no different. I did tons of research. I read medical journals and studies as well as personal experiences posted by others who were already post op. I had my VSG done on 9/22/14. I know I'm only about 2.5 weeks post op.. But I wasn't prepared for the fatigue that comes with the process. I can hardly eat and the weight I've lost isn't exciting because it just feels like medically induced starvation. I pray to God that I get done balance soon. I don't feel healthy..pre-op I was a healthy obese person. I want so badly to just have balance again. I hope that 6 months from now I too can say this was the best decision that I ever made. My advice to pre-op patients is to understand that the first month post op is hard. The surgery is easy in comparison to the extreme fatigue many patients go through post-op.
  20. Thank you for the kind words everyone... It's not lack of sleep for sure.. I'm sleeping 10 hours.. It's lack of calories. I hope I feel better soon
  21. Hello all.. I've had a few issues the past couple days and am looking to see if it's happened to anyone else.. I'm calling my surgeon tomorrow, but wanted to see if anyone on here could provide feedback.. So here's what happened.... I'm 8 days post op and my surgeon allows soft food as tolerated at this stage. Last night I ate a few pieces of avocado and because I was excited about it I didn't chew enough and it made me really sick. I threw up about 5 minutes later.. And got my first case of the slimies. I had it for about 4 hours and spit about a cup of saliva. Meanwhile my stomach was making horrible noises and had pressure in my esophagus. Then I made myself throw up again... This time a piece of avocado came up and the slimies subsided. The whole time I was sipping Water since I knew it was going to be dehydrating. Finally was able to fall asleep. Then this morning woke up feeling good.. Ate a bit of blended chicken Soup (everything was pulverized) and got the same pressure and slimies... Threw it up. Then was able to sip on water had pressure and gurgling but no vomit with water. Then tried to drink a premier Protein drink but couldn't keep it down. I haven't gotten sick since then but every time I try to sip broth or drink Fluid I get the same pressure and stomach noises. I'm worried about keeping things down. Prior to last night, everything has been so great... Now I'm concerned Has anyone experienced these chain of events?

    Need VSG Veteran Input

Thanks everyone! I spoke to my surgeon and we agreed that since I hadn't chewed well enough it irritated my sleeve when I vomited enough that it swelled shut so to speak and when the inflammation went down I was able to get food down again! Crazy but makes sense. He said it's not uncommon this early out but that in time food will pass easier and easier.

    Need VSG Veteran Input

The weird this is.. Until I ate the avocado I was eating mushy food just fine without any discomfort.. I was thinking my stomach may have been inflamed like you said. Thankfully, after I wrote this post I had some Greek yogurt and was just fine.. Also downed a good bit of water... So now I feel hydrated again. I will certainly be touching base with the surgeon though. Thank you for your input!!!
