  1. The waiting so far has seemed to take so long. I can only imagine how nervous I'll be for the wait after everything's submitted to insurance. I'm thinking early October at the very earliest if insurance approves me right away.
  2. I just had my psych eval yesterday. It went really well, I wasn't sure how it would go. The only sorta bummer is she takes about 2 weeks to write up the results and send them over to my surgeon's office. It's the last thing they need before they submit to insurance. I'll be on vacation all next week though, so at least I know around the time I get back it should all be submitted.
  3. How are all the fellow newbies doing?! I'm getting anxious and ready for my surgical group to submit my info to insurance. I've sent over my 6+ month supervised diet info I've faxed over the medical clearance form to my PCP I had my EGD done I had 3 nutritional/behavioral/exercise meetings I have my psych eval scheduled for 8/25. I think once this is done they will submit! Then it's a sleep study, blood work/EKG, and a pre-surgery appointment. I'm hoping hoping hoping to have a surgery date in October!

Some of this might depend on your insurance. I have my psych consultation scheduled for 8/25 with Jacqueline Jacobson, and she works with my insurance so I won't owe anything. My insurance doesn't cover any of the surgeon-required nutritional appointments or the cost of the shakes. And I had to pay a 20% co-pay for the EGD. So there are some definite out of pocket costs but nothing has been too exorbitant.
  5. You DID do it yourself. That was an ignorant comment from an ignorant person. You look amazing by the way!
  6. Yeah, I understand the point of a sleep study. Sleep apnea is definitely not my reason for insomnia. I've had insomnia issues since is was a teenager and at a normal weight. I can't fall asleep a lot of nights. Once I'm asleep I'm fine, I don't really snore and I definitely don't wake up gasping for air (my husband has confirmed this) and I'm rested when I wake up in the morning. It's the falling asleep my body occasionally has issues with. Anyway, I don't need help with that. I just dread the sleep study based on how sensitive I am to conditions that allow me to fall asleep. I always have issues falling asleep in hotels so I feel like I'm just going to toss and turn all night. That's cool that there's an at home option possibly, I'll have to ask about that!
  7. I tried to knock out as much stuff as I could today. I scheduled a consult with the GI group that will do my EGD scope for 8/5. My first nutritionist appointment is 8/8. I got my diet program to send me the past year's history. I called a psych office and left a message to try to set up my psych eval. And I called the office to set up the sleep study. I think out of everything the sleep study bothers me the most. I have insomnia issues I just don't see how I will ever fall asleep with all that stuff attached to me.
  8. I just had my initial consultation with the surgeon today. I'm slightly overwhelmed by all the stuff I have to complete, even though none of it is really a surprise. I've already met the 6 month diet program requirement. Insurance also requires a psych evaluation and a medical clearance from my PCP. In addition, the surgeon requires 3 nutritional classes. An endoscopy, a sleep study, and various blood work panels, and EKG. I left out of there with my first nutrition/exercise class scheduled for Aug. 8th. I have to schedule my psych eval, have my doctor send the medical clearance, and have my diet program proof sent over. Sheesh.
  9. I have my initial consultation with the surgeon tomorrow morning. (I made the appointment 2.5 weeks ago and even that wait has seemed to take so long!) No idea how long it will all take. My only insurance requirements, other than bmi/weight, are to have a psych evaluation. Even if there is a supervised weight loss program requirement, I should already meet it - I've been on one for a year. The webinar I attended before making the appointment indicated it will probably take at least 6 weeks which would put me in early to mid September.

I hope there aren't any big fees like that! I'm scheduled for my initial consultation there on Tuesday. It's been a couple weeks since I scheduled it and this was the earliest they could get me in. I'm so impatient, this waiting business is driving me crazy already.
