  1. A1C is now at 5.3 -- down from 5.7 from 4 months ago. YeeHaw!!! Had a visit with PCP on Friday. The only not so positive thing is now I have to start taking a statin.

Congrats!! That is SO exciting! I can't wait to get mine tested but I have to wait 6 more weeks.... Sorry you had to start a statin. I stopped mine. (Dr wasn't pleased.) But I figured I wasn't eating stuff that would drive mine up. Plus I just could not possibly get in all the pills with the other stuff I have no choice on taking (synthroid, antii-depressant, PPI & estrogen). Hoping when they test cholesterol in 6 weeks I can stay off statin or at very least go to a smaller dose. Whatever will keep you healthy tho!

Thanks @Daisee68! I'm not minding having to start the statin too much. Apparently my cholesterol levels have more to do with my genetics than the food I'm eating. We waited on this set of labs before determining if I would need a statin or not. My triglicerides and HDL are great!! Yes, the number of supplements and other pills we have to take is a bummer even on a good day, even though very necessary, but I'll take that over being as obese as I was.

That is fantastic news! From my personal experience the health issues that seem to resolve shortly after surgery are so motivating! Congratulations on your progress and here's to good health!
