To fill or not to fill--that is the question!
Teerock replied to LapBandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in the exact same situation. I was banded almost a year ago and have lost 100 pounds. It has slowed down dramatically now and I can eat a bit more than I used to. I am just not sure if I want to have a fill. I have heard some bad horror stories and I'm not sure I want to put myself in that position. I am sooo confused! I am seeing my surgery tomorrow and I know he'll try to convince me to get one. I have only lost 25 pounds in the past 6 months so I guarantee he'll throw me on the bed and stick me with that LONG needle---gulp -
I was banded in July of 2005 and I've lost 98 pounds without a fill. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow for a follow-up and I am strongly considering a fill. I still have restriction, however, I notice a difference in my portions. I could probably use one now....still deciding because I'm scared to death!!!

I can feel my port especially if I wear tight jeans or if I'm slouching. I was worried about this at first, but now it's become a part of my life.

I had my surgery on July 15th so I'm 2 weeks and 3 days post-op. Can somebody shed some light as to what they ate at this point. If I look at another liquid I'll die!!!! I need some real food but am affraid of slipage!

Thanks again!!! My Dr. is pure french and extremely hard to understand. When I went for my consultation, it wasn't that clear. I see him on Thursday for the first time since my surgery. According to him, this is my diet: Week 1&2: Water, Gatorade, broth, Jello, Popcycles Week 2&3: Hot Cereal, Strained Cream Soup, Milk, Yogurt, pudding, Milkshake and carnation instant breakfast Week 3&4: Boiled Egg, Soft cheese, Fish, Finely minced chicken, Well cooked Vegtables, Non-strained Soups, Stew (weird), Well cook Pasta This is me is serious punishment!! I am on week 2-3 and cannot understand what the difference is between hot cereal (instant porrage), and mashed potatoes!!! Really! I will discuss what you are eating when I see him on Thursday. I would like to be able to eat some of what you're eating. Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions!!! I would love to have mashed potatoes!!!! What day did you start eating those foods? You had your surgery 3 days before me so did you wait to the 3 week mark exactly or a few days before. My 3 week mark will be Friday. Can't wait to eat!!!!!

You feel the exact way that I did. I was banded on July 15th and I had a lot of discomfort in my shoulders and back. This is all gas! I was a little concerned with it as well but don't worry about it because it will pass. It lasted almost 2 weeks for me. My Doctor wanted me to consume approximately 12 measuring cups full of liquids a day, to prevent dehydration. Gatorade is excellent to help put electrolights back into your body. It helped me a lot. I was pretty much back to my normal self after 7 days-hang in there!
