brendaliz_r replied to 2late4bed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! I hope you have a quick recovery. Starting weight: 270 (I weighted 290 in some point) Surgery day weight: 238 Current weight: 219 Surgery date: July 31, 2014. I have some pics on my profile. Yesterday the nutritionist gave me a great advise, "do not compare yourself with others. As long as you're following instructions you should not worry" Welcome to your new life. -

I do track my food intake with My Fitness Pal, I'm not eating enough calories, I get full fast, even that I chew a lot and I do take my time to eat. I don't get hungry only if I'm more than 3 hours without eating. Today I'm putting a lot of effort to eat it all LOL Let's do it -

Hi Joe, I believe most of us can relate with your reasons. I have a 3yr old daughter, I want her to be healthy and active, how can I teach her to be all that If I'm not? That's when I knew I had to do something! -
Danielle, I love your initiative. My name is Brendaliz, I'm from Puerto Rico. 30 years, married, mother of 1 daughter, she turns 3 this month. Who am I? Still looking for that answer. Greetings from the Caribbean.

I have fine hair and before surgery I had it long, I decided to cut it by my shoulders before the sleeve because I just knew I was going to loose hair and I was right. My sleeve was on July 31 and I'm losing hair. I take my Vitamins daily, I assure to consume first the Protein (now that I'm eating I can't eat all the food so I just eat the protein first) I try to take Biotin 5k - 10k daily, I use coconut oil to massage my scalp before washing my hair, also I don't wash my hair often because when is wet is too fragile. I read that rosemary oil is good to prevent hair loss so I'm trying it soon. Also I'm going to cut it again to make it look with more volume. Let's hope this is temporary.

Oh the nerves! Just keep doing your thing as usual. Try drinking chamomile tea, I got really nervous at the hospital when they called me for the surgery. I was trembling but immediately I got the anesthesia so I don't remember anything else. Good luck! -

Exercise Routine Post-Op
brendaliz_r replied to brendaliz_r's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@WhoKnows I do prefer weight training! I started exercising 3 weeks post-op but had to stop then because my nutritionist said I was not eating enough. Now I'm eating almost the 800cals recommended by the nutritionist and I want to start exercising today. I can't go to a gym because I work full time and I have a 3yr old toddler to take care in the afternoons but I have a treadmill at home and 2lb, 5lb dumbbells, resistance bands and some other stuff at home. I'm thinking walking 15 mins, then do a dumbbell routine for arms, then walk 15 more mins and do some leg exercises. At least 3 days a week weight training and the other 2 days just walk for 30-40 mins. -

Were you tired - Yes the first weak Weak- Yes the first 3-4 days In pain- YES! It hurts a lot, the morphine helps but whenever you need to get up, it will hurt, try to walk as often as you can. Do you have children to care for - A 3yr daughter, my husband and family help me with her during the hospital stay and the 1st week at home. I started taking her to preschool, still can't hold her up. I teached her to get in/out the car herself prior the surgery. and what is your profession - I'm an administrative assistance. how soon did you go back - Still on medical leave but I want to go back to work, I don't like being home. My sleeve was on July 31, I still feel minimal discomfort and still a lil swollen but I started driving yesterday and I assure you this, you will wakeup feeling less pain every day. Hang in there! -

Hi. I had my sleeve on July 31. Started the post-op liquid diet on August 2. I'm on my first week liquid diet and already sick of it. I had a 2 weeks liquid diet pre-op, and I'm so tired of it already. I want to cry everytime I have to drink the same thing. I'm supposed to drink 2onz of liquid every half hour. Including 4onz of protein which I hate and make my stomach feel weird. I which I could drink something else than broth, juice or water. Please share what you had on your first week! Thanks.
