  1. I was sleeved on 9/12. I reported for surgery at 6am to my surgeons outpatient surgery center. Was given a 3 day nausea patch, and 2 painkillers even before 8am surgery. Was in recovery by 9am. I felt bloated and uncomfortable but no real pain. My doc fills his pts bellies with this liquid painkiller that lasts 3 days. I was home and in my own bed by noon. I slept off and on all day. I haven't taken any painkillers since Sunday. The worst thing for me has been the gas pains. I've been taking Gas-x strips. I went back to work yesterday and woke up this AM with the gas pain gone. I tell ya, I've never been so happy to fart and burp in my life! This whole no appetite thing is freaking me out. I want to eat food but I know I'm not physically hungry. I guess that's the "head hunger" people talk about. I'm kicking ass with drinking Water. I got at least 60oz yesterday but only maybe 15g of Protein.

    Psych eval

The psych eval isn't anything to worry about...it's basically to make sure you understand what you're doing and that you're not delusional/psychotic/seriously mentally ill. I'm sure your psychologist will understand the history of depression/anxiety you've had especially since us fat ladies are shamed by society constantly. I don't have so much anxiety but have been on depression meds since 2002. The test you may have to take, that was mentioned above, is called the MMPI. Stands for Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory. Again, I'm pretty sure the only way you can go wrong is if you're seriously mentally ill, so it seems you're good to go. Hugs!
  4. A lot of insurance companies no longer cover the surgery. Neither my husband's policy, nor my policy cover it. My husband's policy, however, will pay for amphetamines and Topamax, which is an anti-epileptic. Mexican surgeons offer a more reasonable self-pay rate I believe plus you can have avocation to boot! I'm refinancing my house to cover the procedure. Also, my policy has an exclusion that if any complications arise from bariatric surgery, I'm on my own.
  5. I've got them on my calendar already, NevadaDave! Do you attend?
  6. I'm in SE Vegas and would participate. I'm about ready to schedule my sleeve surgery with Dr. Umbach.
  7. That's who will be doing my sleeve as well! I'd rather recover in my bed than in the hospital. Especially knowing the rates of MRSA and c-diff that happen in our fine healthcare facilities here.
