I was banded on 12/5 and have been struggling. I have a post op appointment tomorrow and am looking for some advice. The only time I do not have discomfort is when my tum is totally empty. The doc put me on soft foods right from the get go.... in the hospital. (cottage cheese, yogurt etc) Every time I eat....4oz of anything, even drink, I have pain and discomfort. Feels like a big fist in my upper stomach, at the highest incision location. Not sure if it is heart burn, or other issue. I have been taking the medication (protonix) and gas x. I have also been sliming after eating and sometimes just a Protein drink. Like I said.... the only time I am comfortable is when I do not consume anything. I will go over this with surgeon tomorrow altho I would really appreciate some feedback to be prepared for the visit. Thanks in advance!! I have a 10cc band without any filled at surgery time.

I can relate to this so well!!! Was banded on 12/05 and it has really been hard.... Did not think I would miss eating so much!! Guess that is a sign of a true overeater. Used food to cope and i miss it..... am trying to take it easy on myself... The true denial of using food as a drug has really kicked in, especially since anything I eat or drink hurts. I will continue to take it a day at a time....... Hoping that time will heal as well as heal my need to over eat!!!

Hello All!! So happy that everyone is doing so well. I was banded on the 5th. The surgery only took about 30 minutes and doc told my husband that everthing went very well. I had no pain until the second day. Took pain medication for 2 and half days and now just occasional tylenol. I have not gotten much down as it does give me some weird feeling of GURGLE....Kind of nausea, kind of gas...just not sure. Went shopping yesterday and today feeling wonderful....barely any pain. I have not stepped on the scale as I want to hold out for my first Dr appt on 12/20. We will see if I can make it. It is so strange to feel the port. It is right above my waist. My doc used glue for stitches so I can see that they are healing well. Good luck to all!!! It has and will continue to be a journey....

Glad everyone seems to be doing so well on the Pre OP. It has been going okay for me as well. I think it is easier to know that you have limited food choices. I could see it getting old tho. I really like the slim fast optima in vanilla. I have tried several others altho that is my fave. The unjury is okay and has a high Protein content. Has anyone given thought to post op clear liquid phase?? Just wondering what people are buying to prepare for this time?? Count down......6 more days!!!! -

Did you all have to have blood work done within a month of surgery? I had it done for insurance, prior to being approved although they are asking for it again within one month of surgery????? Pro Op is going okay. I am glad that I experimented with some products early as there are certainly some that are yuck!! I ordered unjury (choc, vanilla and chicken soup). Made the mistake of using to hot of Water with the chicken Soup and it clumped up. About made me vomit I found that I am not that hungry... really. Which is a total shocker for me as I am a TRUE binge eater. Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well!! -
It certainly is helpful to know you are not the only one. I tried so hard prior to the actual start of the pre op diet. Just kept failing......:cry Started Pre Op on Wed. of this week and so far so good. I had gained 5 pounds at my last visit to the nurse on Tue. Think it was that last meal syndrome.....:hungry: I bought some unjury Protein supplements. Not sure if it is those or just the fact that surgery is about 11 days away and I am nervous as heck!!! Keep reading awful stories that are scaring me a bit. SOOOOO I plan to try by best to do it by the book. Two weeks pre op for me. Clear liquids the day prior to surgery. Think if we all keep cheering each other on it will help:clap2: Good luck to all

Sghatl - Have a wonderful time on the cruise and thanks for keeping up with the dates. I would offer to fill in although I dont really know if I would screw it up. I am sure there is someone who is a better option than me. If I see that it is falling behind... I will give it a shot To all Merry Losers - Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Got thru the Pre Op diet on turkey day and it really was not to bad. Nothing like not being able to eat what you want on the best food spread day of the year.....especially being a FOOD ADDICT!!!! But, truthfully... it was not sooooo bad. How are you all that have started Pre Op if you have one??

I am so sorry.... What a day!!! Hang in there... I have had crap days like that before and you are right... Some day you will be laughing and telling the story as a distant funny memory. My day is 12/5 and although I am looking forward to it, the nerves have started kicking in. Wishing you the very best on 12/13!!!

I got my butt up today and did 3 10 minute sessions on the treadmill. I am so out of shape that it hurts to do any more than 10 minutes at a time. Geessssssssssss that is so sad!! There are so many of us having surgery in December. Even tho it is around the holidays.... it is still good timing. What a better way to bring in the New Year!!!! Question..... What is PBing? I feel so unknowlegable

Hello, I really need some motivation.... I have about 18 days until surgery and would like to exercise each day until then... I just have trouble actually doing it. Always find something more important. Do we want to start another thread for the challenge? I don't think that I have seen one that has been started. Let me know your thoughts!! :bounce:

Hello gang!! How is everyone planning the holiday if getting banded prior to Christmas? I have not really given the holiday to much thought until today as my mother called and asked about the plans. I suppose this will be the first Christmas for me since childhood that I will not gain weight LOL That is the bright side!! It will be very strange to me to not be eating cookies, treats, etc etc.... The countdown is 20 days until banded!!:whoo:
-
It is a big decision.... I was foolish and decided to make every meal my last when I was in the waiting process for insurance..... since I have gained composure... Stress eater here!!! Join the Merry Bandsters!! Good luck and keep in touch Where are you from?

Has anyone had issues with watch and armband not syncing? My watch shows about 300 or so less calories burned as the day goes on....??????
-
Hello Merry Bandsters!!! My date is 12/05!!!!!!!!!!! Indpls Indiana!!!
-
Alright Meghan!!!! If you are 25 days... that means I am 23 days. Scarey! I havent counted in awhile! I have been experimenting with the post op diet. Trying to do two protein supps and 1 balanced meal without a carb ( that is my surgeons pre op). Wow... harder than I thought. Guess I never realized what an overeater I really am. I take that back.. I have realized it...just been in denial. YIKES I am afraid my liver is going to be so huge that they will refuse to do the surgery. Then what??? lol ( the fears of a pre op bandster)

At the recent nutrition class I attended, the clinic's nurse indicated that caffeine can stimulate hunger..... I remember hearing that at weight watchers also ( I believe that was the 50th time I joined...lol). Who knows.....
