Dizzy - 3 months and 3 weeks post op

I found for month's 2 to 6 post op i was quite dizzy at times also. In the past month it has gotten better. My doctor said it is likely because my heartrate and blood pressure are so much lower then before surgery and my body is still adjusting. (Ekg was normal). My bp was 140/110 and heart rate was 85 to 95 preop and now bp is 110/65 and heart rate is 50 to 60. My doctor said if it continues to the 12 month mark we will run more tests but in the past few weeks i find it rarely happens now. Talk to your doc to rule out any serious issues but it can be pretty normal. My friend that had surgery also found the same thing for the first year. Good luck and be super careful and talk to your doctor. If you lose consciousness make sure you go to an er and don't just ignore it!!

    Extreme Stomach Pains

Sounds like it could be acid possibly to. Go see a doctor and see about getting a gastroscopy and ultrasound or swallow test done. If it happens again before you can get tests then go to the er next time it happens. For me it was acid. Start 2 months out and continued to accelerate to daily... im only 7 months out and on meds now. They are definitely helping... don't know how i would function otherwise. Mine may turn into a bypass conversion but time and more tests will tell... good luck and please don't wait to get it checked. If it is acid or reflux it can lead to very serious complications if you ignore it.

    Hair loss

Hi there! I am just over 7 months post op now and found it was really bad between months 3 and 6. In the past 4 weeks it has gotten much better. Like you my hair was thin to begin with and it definitely got worse. I found from working with my hair dresser that color did not hold so we opted to go shorter with some layers so it wasn't so limp and it gave a fuller appearance. Good luck and try not to stress over it. Trust me... you notice it more than anyone else! ????

    Gastritis

I am curious to know for those of you that take sucralfate / carafate.... what times of day did you take it at? Also how did you manage vitamins and other meds with it? There seem to be so many eating/medications/vitamins restrictions and the timing! Help!! Having trouble getting food and vitamins in with all the anti acid pills!

    Gastritis

I had my vsg is december 2014 but it was only after my gallbladder filled with stones and came out june 22 that the problems started. I can only think that the gall bladder was collecting everything and once it was gone then it all started getting pushed up. My gastroscopy also just showed gastritis. The swallow test showed lots of reflux but thats about it ????. For the ph test they run a tube down your nose and attach a clip to your esophagus and then monitor your ph levels for 24 hours. Im not really sure what they do with those results.... its amazing i don't remember reading much about gastritis and reflux before surgery but in the past month there seems to be more and more people posting issues! I definitely still love my sleeve but really hope this can just be managed or converted to bypass. I just want it solved and not to drag on!! But I'm sure anyone with gastritis feels that way! It is definitely a pain and discomfort that you just can't prepare for!! Good luck with yours and hopefully it settles back down!!

    Gastritis

I can also empathize... mine has been awful over the past three weeks since my gallbladder came out. I am on pantoloc twice a day, sulcrafate four times a day and buscopan twice a day. For pain i am on tramacet every 6 hours. Been hospitalized twice now for a total of 5 days. ???? Have a follow up appointment this week to see how next steps for medication and if I stay on what i am or if they want to change it. For the past few days it has at least been bearable. Prior to the pain medication i couldn't cope with the tearing and sudden pains . They would last 20 to 120 minutes and would happen up to 6 times a day ???? Needless to say eating was tough. My surgeon also said a revision to bypass would be the next steps if the gastroscopy shows it is worse and cant be managed by pain. I have been drinking happy life Water with a ph of 7.4 and i think it does help soothe the stomach a bit.... Have you had a gastroscopy and ph test and stuff ? I also try and eat a small amount of food every 2 hours while i am awake. I try and stick to foods with a ph level of 5 and higher if possible... very hard to do and still get Protein... so i definitely rely on the medication. Oh and i also have a couple plain dry almonds and some alkaline water after every meal. And i sleep partially sitting up.... Sorry for rambljng... those are the things that come to mind. I feel i have been obsessed with this since the awful pains started! ????

    5 month update?

Wow some great numbers out there! My hw was 300 sw was 243 and cw is 281. I just keep reminding myself how far i have come and look at the before pics! Also i find when i have a couple weeks where i don't lose pounds i lose inches and have clothes get looser as it all reshapes. I was averaging about 900 calories a day and now i am trying to be closer to 1100. But just had gallbladder surgery and i am being treated for gerd so back down to 700 to 800 again while the adjusts....

Best food post op, Worst food post op

Hmmm.....well my tummy really hates cottage cheese and scrambled eggs but i love them. Every couple weeks i try them agai but nope.... stomach feels instantly full and i get nausea. Even now... 6 months out! But boy does my tummy love wonton soup and vermicelli rice noodle. Sooo weird!

Will my shoe size change too?

It might... my feet are half to a full size smaller because they are such more narrow. My ring size especially dropped. Size 9.5 to 7.5!

    What just happened to me?

If it continues to happen even just a couple more times i recommend talking to your doctor. I had that happen four time in four months once i was post op and had to have my gallbladder removed. Turns out it was gerd starting from the surgery. Sitting in the hospital now being treated for gerd and a week post op from gallbladder removal. In my case i never felt any heartburn and the acid was all happening inside my stomach without me knowing it. Good luck and hopefully just a one off for you! ????

    Gallbladder out - who else

I had sleeve surgery in december 2014 and have lost about 70lbs since december 1 2014. I had several gallbladder attacks between february and june. Ultrasound showed lots of little stones and some inflammation. Gallbladder removal and gastroscopy was just done on monday june 22 2015. At home recovering now. They had me in on sunday, surgery monday and home tuesday. Felt really good monday, tuesday and wednesday. Way better then the sleeve. Since wednesday night i have extreme pain whenever i eat. They did see gastritis on the scope and prescribed me pantoloc for acid. Not sure at this point what is causing the pain... have to try the meds and cross fingers it gets better! But overall gallbladder was better then the sleeves. I had 7 incisions with sleeve and 5 with gall bladder. No incision pain this time and less gas pain in my shoulders and chest. Good luck with your surgery!!

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

Hi All! I had my VSG surgery on December 15, 2014 and through this whole process I have now lost 114 lbs. I wanted to share two before and two after. The before one in the blue shirt was about 5 years ago when I was at about 300lb, the other before one in the white jeans was 2.5 years ago when I was at about 260 lbs. The after in the blue shirt was n April 2015 and I hit 100lbs lost and was 200 lbs. The one in the orange dress is today, happily weighing in at 186 lbs What an amazing journey it has been! This site and everyone on it have been so inspiring! Thanks all!

    New Clothes?

I started at a 24... by 3 mos post op i was a size 16. Now at 5 mos i am in a size 12. I also found that my shoe size went down almost a full size.... which really stinks because i had a lot of shoes! That was one thing that was fun to buy when i was big so i bought shoes and not clothes! ! My biggest challenge is I always bought clothes based on if it fit i bought it....it was so hard to find clothes that fit that really that was the only criteria....now in a 12 i am always having to resist the impulse to but just because it fits! Trying to reprogram my brain is tough! Just because it fits doesnt mean i have to buy it!!
